Thora didn’t get gifts of flowers, not anymore. She didn’t receive gifts often in general, and they were always practical items like a new dagger. Thora’s birthday had been eight weeks ago, and a potted white orchid wasn’t something practical. And so, she had immediately expected the worst.
First, she had focused her mark to sense what magic laid within it. She was expecting a time-delayed spell intended to manifest a fireball that would kill her and everyone near her. That, or it was being used to scry on her. Someone wanted to learn her secrets. Maybe it was a lucky guess, since white orchids were a common enough flower, but they had already sent Thora her favorite flower. She wouldn’t allow herself to become more compromised.

Normally when I complete a new work, I think it's the best thing I've ever written for like a week, and I end up reading my own work over and over because I'm so proud of myself.
I tend to have a hard time thinking of myself as a writer, but when I do actually finish a work or post something, it doesn't feel quite as much of a stretch to call myself a writer.
Okay so I did some research, very basic research, on the user base of tumblr and how many of us there are.
There are at least 300 million unique visitors worldwide on this site. Over 500 million blogs.
Listen. Tumblr is $30 million in debt. This is Super easy for us to solve.
If each user gifts one blog crabs, which costs slightly over $3, that would be roughly $600 million at least. Far more than enough to get Tumblr out of the red zone.
If we want tumblr to stay afloat and not change something as integral about their operating system, we need to show them they can be profitable without reducing themselves to common social media sites. What we have here is special. It is different. We are the social media site people run to when theirs collapses and for good reason.
If we want this to work, we have to make it work. We can even make it into a game. Just how long can we outlast the other social media sites?
Yes that’s exactly what I’m saying.
It needs to be a holiday. Pick a date a few weeks from now, and just make it Crab Day. Maybe a Saturday as a lot of people are paid on Fridays. Just in case this post becomes more popular than any I've had before, lets set the date as the last Saturday in July (which for us in 2023 will be July 29th.)
On July 29th, gift as many crabs as you can without breaking the bank. Post crab memes if you cannot afford a crab.
Tumblr can pull this off. Tumblr likes doing things like this.

Tumblr is giving us a lot of different dashes but the thing is no one wants "for you" so what I propose instead is you give me the ability to make mini-dashes with specific subsets of people I follow. Let me follow 300 people but then sort them into category. Let me have one dash for all my aesthetic stuff, another for news, another for my weird feral friends. Am I the only one who wants this? Maybe. Give it to me anyway.
This would absolutely revolutionize the way I use Tumblr. I would probably spend like 20% more time on Tumblr if I could follow a bunch of people I like but who I do not want on my "these are my friends and idols" dash.
I do love the phrase executive dysfunction bc the image it conjures is of a bunch of people wearing business suits around a long oval conference table arguing with each other to the point where they’re getting into physical fights, but in the background there’s just a big empty whiteboard with a To Do list with one item on it and that item is “take shower”
