Taking a break from a project to practice a more painterly style with Auwowa

I was drawing Emmy around 5 AM yesterday while listening to “Plastic Love” by Mariya Takeuchi bc it was stuck in my head again, so that’s why this happened.

I also reversed the image to match the album cover on the song so that’s why her bangs are on the wrong side...lol

I remember feeling so sad when I found out about a Layton zine that had just finished being made. I wish I could have been a part of it!

Ever since then I’ve been hoping for openings for another one. ;_; but I’ve also been thinking of wanting to start one for years but not being in the right financial state to do it. I’m also often worried about not having enough time, and I certainly don’t have enough experience to accommodate so many people because I tend to be disorganized. Maybe I’ll be more ready in the future.

I reposted these on my Instagram so I thought I would post it here too. I was trying to sleep when all I could think about was how deeply sad and moving and nuanced the story was for every character in the series. The grief we see them feel is so tangible—but so is the healing, hope, and love that they let in after hurting. Every character deals with it in so many different ways and I can’t help but admire the series for that. Growing up with it, and reflecting on it now gives me a deeper appreciation for it.

Older Flora!! Finally some Layton art after so long ;_; I keep wishing we have a spin-off game with older Flora and Luke with many familiar faces but a new adventure!
