Silly lil posts —> user is 18+

You deserve to be comfortable in hot temperatures. In fact, it’s very dangerous if you wear clothes that prevent you from cooling off because it stops your body from being able to regulate/cool your core temperature as you’re not allowing sweat to escape properly. Not only can it worsen symptoms of already being outside in higher temperatures— such as nausea or dizziness, but it can also increase your risk of heatstroke.

If you have body hair, you deserve to be comfortable in hot weather.

If you have stretch marks, you deserve to be comfortable in hot weather.

If you have self harm scars, you deserve to be comfortable in hot weather.

If you’re fat, you deserve to be comfortable in hot weather.

If you have any other scars that you might hold shame or embarrassment over, you deserve to be comfortable in hot weather.

If you’re disabled and it affects the way your body looks, or you have additions to your person like an ostomy bag, an insulin pump/cgm, or any other extension of you, you deserve to be comfortable in hot weather.

No matter the person, what you look like, how you feel about your body (whether you hate it or love it or somewhere in between), you deserve to be comfortable.

I absolutely understand hiding under a hoodie, I used to do it too. However, when you cover your body with layers, or a hoodie or long pants whatever, you block out its own ability to help you survive. When you sweat, it cools your body down and also releases sodium and other electrolytes from your body. The harder your body works, the more you will sweat. And the more you sweat, the more fluids your body loses. Which is why you see all of those Gatorade ads for athletes. Also, your body begins to work harder when the weather becomes warmer because it’s already triggering that natural response. And if you’re not drinking at least water, you will make it worse and it can become life threatening if you’re not careful.

You do not have to be in the sunshine to get heatstroke. It can happen to anyone, anywhere— including indoors. (And that’s why you see the “don’t leave your kids or pets in the car” warnings and advisories.) Keeping yourself cool can mean life or death. You won’t ever win against the sun.

You deserve to be comfortable this summer and every summer after that. Please, take care.

I cannot explain enough the physical sensation that occurs when I stop autistic masking.

Think of holding an uncomfortable position for hours, and the relief when you finally get to shift or move. You don't know why you have to do this position, but it's very important.

And imagine being sore, tired, maybe you've pulled a muscle and you're worried you may need physio so you think it's best you don't do that position again for a while.

Only, you're told that if you refuse to continue you will lose friends, your job, your reputation, and you're at higher risk of medical abuse and police brutality.

Now do all that, only with your brain.

I love spoiling my little meat suit.

Like yea, we’re feeling bad so I’ll slap some fancy (cheap-ass) skincare on ourselves so we feel cherished and taken care off. Who’s a good boy? Who’s a good boy, that’s right.

We are! :)

Start accommodating yourself!!! 👏👏👏

My big light hurt my eyes for the past couple hours and I just realized I can turn it off and use my (very dim) led lights instead. Boom, immediately less pain.

Still not quite dark enough? Now I wear sunglasses no matter how silly it may look to others!! My eyes basically don’t hurt at all anymore!

Can’t take pills? Try taking them with soda or asking for a juice/liquid alternative!

Difficulty keeping track of your pills? Get yourself a cheap pill box! There’s no requirement of being old or taking a lot of pills every day. I have a pill box for just my iron supplements.

Can’t decide on a meal? Make a list of comfort/safe foods and try to always have some of those foods in your house! Don’t feel bad for eating something else than the rest of the family. Eating nothing is going to harm you more than eating your separate food.

Say it with me: You don’t need to endure pain in order to make others comfortable (within reason of course). The baseline for pain is zero.

Friendly reminder that it‘s absolutely okay to “fit into a stereotype” and that you don’t need to feel bad for doing so!

You can absolutely be:

- a more “masculine” looking lesbian with short hair

- a fluffy haired transmasc

- a plus sized person who loves food

- a very flamboyant gay dude

- an alt-dressing person who has a history of mental illness or addiction

- an autistic person who loves trains or dinosaurs

- a disabled person who uses mobility aids

Or not, you rock nonetheless!!!

Do what makes you comfortable and don’t bring anyone else down.

Remember to always make space for other minorities within your group to ensure that no one is lost in the crowd.

Not Dead Yet

[Plain Text: Not Dead Yet]

Listen

To the tip tap rainy day pattern of my step.

The click of my cane is the shading of my walk,

Aluminum bent handle

The lines of my sketch Stretch

My dislocation between my teeth.

I know the gummy taste

Of orange bottle medication

Lick

The dust off my thumbs

Swallow

The bittersweet taste of relief,

Maybe.

Two tablets taken by mouth daily,

Check my pulse against the Morse code cheat sheet,

Fall risk, it says

Sick, it says

Alive, alive, alive

Not dead yet,

It says.

I'll hang x rays on my walls

And call it art.

Just had a thought about Layla and Steven making dinner together at the apartment and they're so happy and content today and make lots of dishes for no reason at all, just because they can.

Then it's eating time and Marc tries to take over and enjoy the spoils and Steven protests that he made it all so he should get it and Marc retorts with 'its the same body innit' in the most horrible british accent and then they start fighting over the control of the body.

Layla laughs at them, telling them it's only fair they shared, in a teasing voice. Steven complains, but reluctantly agrees with a pleading look from Layla. Marc wears a very smug look as he eats first.

From a lone window in the darkened corner, Jake Lockley watches their bright world. No one notices him. As always, on the outside looking in.

When everyone goes to sleep, he gets up and quietly walks over to the fridge.

Hesitantly, he opens it, feeling strangely vulnerable. He eats a few tentative bites of the cold leftovers alone on the table, pretending for a minute.

Pretending that maybe he belonged too.

It doesn't work. Everything was just too quiet. He was alone. As always. He suddenly feels the urge to cry, but as usual, stops himself.

His face hardens as he pushes the plate away, and puts on his cap and gloves. An impatient moon good awaits, he has people to kill.
