This is demonstrating why you absolutely do not pour water on a grease fire.

holy shit

Okaaaay. If any of you actually have a grease fire in the kitchen put the lid on the pan. It will suffocate the flames. Don’t pour water on it, and don’t freak out. Cook safely!

Or throw flour on it to smother it.

/quick safety announcement

NO, DO NOT USE FLOUR, DO NOT USE FLOUR TO SMOTHER A FIRE.

YOU HAVE TO USE BAKING SODA.

Throwing flour into a fire can cause it to combust and make the fire worse because FLOUR/SUGAR IS FLAMMABLE. One cup of flour into a grease fire can have the explosive force of dynamite.

The reason you use baking soda is that it releases carbon dioxide when heated, and CO2 is a fire suppressant.

REBLOGGING FOR LAST COMMENT TO SAVE LIVES

can we talk about how this is from a tv-show called “do not try this at home” where they tested all sort of stuff you’re not supposed to do, but they only got four episodes because after this experiment they burned the house they were filming in to the ground.

One last bit, slide the pan or lid parallel to the opening, do not place it from above. :) This will choke out the oxygen.

So 2016 is SO bad that it made the creator of this meme give us an alternative version of “This is Fine”.

2016? PSSHHHHH

God remember when we thought 2016 was the worst year….

2020 is a direct result of what happened in 2016. A lot of us saw something like this coming as we saw that year unfold. Yes, 2016 was a terrible year. It was, in fact, the worst. Because actions taken that year led us to where we are now. This year wasn’t inevitable. Neither was 2016. Almost all of the problems we’re facing right now are man made. Stop looking back fondly on the frying pan and focus on getting out of the fire.

Black Lives Matter is held to such a ridiculously high standard. If anyone who is REMOTELY associated with BLM commits an act of violence, white people use it as an excuse to smear the name of the entire movement.

Cops can murder unarmed Black people and many white folks still jump to defend the police force.

This is racism. This is white supremacy culture.

do people really still think states are reopening because coronavirus is under control and becoming less common ??? the re-opening is literally just for money. nothing has changed in real life to warrant it other than concerns about the economy.

So as a continuation of this post I made in frustration about how anglo-centric most “must-read” book lists are, I went and found a few lists with a focus on non-English speaking authors (sorted by number of books listed):

All these lists have reviews and feature books from a wide range of countries. I haven’t read every single review but I browsed the lists to make sure they wouldn’t all just name the same books and they don’t!!

I hope you’ll find inspiring new reads on those lists! :)

Just reposting this because CNN had an analysis piece today (07-01-2020) saying that the BLM protests haven’t accomplished anything.

They couldn’t be more wrong.

Ladies Meme » {one/ten} lgbtqa+ ladies/non-binary people » Angel Dumott Schunard Angel was one of my closest friends. It’s right that it’s Halloween, because it was her favourite holiday. I knew we’d hit it off from the moment we met. This skinhead was bothering her, and she said she was more of a man than he’d ever be, and more of a woman than he’d ever get.

interesting when people bring this up with their men faves get called out for being abusive pieces of shit!!!!!! maybe it’s because it’s true almost fucking always? y’all need to educate yourself on statistics regarding this shit bc it’s clear you know nothing. any attempt to invoke this quote in stories of abuse is victim blaming, point blank.

damn, like this survivor’s words aren’t enough, you need  1080p hd videos with perfect clear cut audio of the monstrous things he threw her way.  makes sense. you’re basically wondering why she put up with it and for years too. and that’s just so very deeply problematic. you especially don’t understand why making it so you need to hear the other side complicates the healing process for her (and many others in the same situation) as is.

do better.
