You know what constantly haunts me? That scene in the donghua where wangxian are walking down the street and lwj stops and asks wwx how he died. He mentions how it's widely believed his undead turned on him but when lwj went his findings showed that wasn't the case.

That moment. And wwx just pulls in, quiet and somber, and says that he died and the how doesn't matter. You can see that lwj is pained by this and wants to ask more but then wwx switches to a smile and runs off to play with a rattle drum and lwj lets it go.

That scene HAUNTS me. The notion that wwx didn't die the way all believe and that lwj /knows/ that and that he has an idea on how he /actually/ died but needs wwx to confirm or deny it. The way they talk in that scene leads me to believe wwx... Well, that he chose that path.

After Zuko becomes the fire lord he never publicizes the identity of the blue spirit. Like the gaang knows who it was and theres a small section in the textbooks about him but it never becomes common knowledge or is officially recorded that Zuko was a masked vigilante during his banishment.

When Izumi starts learning about the 100 year war she learns the minimal amount of information they have about the Blue Spirit and she fixates on this.

She has shrines and tracks down testimonies and reports that were made about it. She puts together the inconsistencies in height (because Zuko's a growing boy and I hc that the stronghold wasn't his first time as the blue spirit). She has all the information she needs through the stories her dads and aunts and uncles and Iroh have told her about the war to know the sightings follow Zuko but she just doesn't put it together.

She is appalled that Zuko hasn't designated more resources into finding out the identity of this faceless hero. After all without him Aang could have been killed or captured right? He should be honored with more than a footnote in a textbook.

The gaang finds this hilarious and Zuko at this point is too embarrassed to say anything because how could he have predicted that his daughter would become obsessed with his alter ego?

This craze dies down and eventually Izumi goes to stay with Iroh (who was completely unaware of this phase she went through) and when telling Izumi embarrassing stories about her dad he makes a backhanded comment about it and Izumi looses her mind the next time she sees Zuko.

also, wow!! this is my first zukka comic in TWO YEARS… i missed the silliness

the hardest lines ALWAYS come from ao3 fanfics and I stand by this

Mostly thanks to @emilyelizabethfowl (their reblog contains many of the fic links!! thank u sm) and a few deep dives into my ao3 history, the sources of the quotes have mostly all been recovered! I apologise for not posting them all with proper credit originally, I truly didn't think the post would blow up so much, but the lesson is very much learned :) enjoy!

- number 1 is another merthur fic, called Destiny Ordered You To Die, But I Willed You To Live by ironfamjam (apparently also appears in Filling the gaps, a spiderman fic by the same author!)

- number 4 is a zukka fic by I'm Not Angry Anymore by team_avatars_eyebags

- two are from The Art Of Burning by hella1975, an amazing ongoing atla following zuko (also zukka but it hasn't quite happened yet) - numbers 5 and 9 to be exact

- number 6 is a hualian fic called No paths are bound by cataclysmic_calamity (originally a thread fic but also fully uploaded on ao3)

- number 7 is a merthur fic called tell me every terrible thing you ever did (and let me love you anyway) by Stardustwrites17 (the quote is also originally from a poem by Sade Andria Zabala or Edgar Allen poe apparently)

- The batman one (number 8) is from Nature and Nurture by lurkinglurkerwholurks

- number 10 is from a steddie fic called let me know (everythings alright) by bexiguess (had too dig deep to find this one - the stranger things phase last summer was no joke 😭)

I’m Christian and respect the order of creation as God intended it but I’m not gonna lie if I could take a massive vat of agar and grow an alive shopping mall made out of red blood and meat and feed it living human bodies to make it expand larger with more shops and amenities, Without hesitation, Without question I would do exactly that

My favourite things about the whole OceanGate disaster, in no particular order

  • That the vessel was originally named Cyclops II but the CEO renamed it to Titan, so it’s even BETTER than the Titanic
  • He also called it indestructible
  • The guy piloting the vessel is an ex-naval captain who has been on several titanic manned trips. But the guy is 77 rn
  • The billionaire from Pakistan is apparently friends with King Charles. You’d think for someone who’s besties with a guy whose job was literally being born, he’d care more about protecting his bloodline. Instead, he brought his 19 year old with him
  • Meanwhile, the stepson of one of the other billionaires (I think the British one named Hamish) went to a Blink 182 concert. When questioned about this, he basically went “my family would want me to go to the concert”. Today, minutes after posting about asking for thoughts and prayers, he @‘ed an OF model on Twitter, asking her to sit on his face
  • Bc it’s part of the safety demo & music track list for the trip, there is a VERY good chance that if there’s still some power left in the sub, it’s playing an instrumental of My Heart Will Go On on loop
  • Also, the vessel is a submersible bc it doesn’t meet literally any of the safety regulations to be called a submarine. Which the CEO knew, because he’s blatantly said that safety regulations get in the way of progress
  • The CEO once stated that he thought the future of humanity was not in space, but in the ocean when the surface becomes uninhabitable
  • Apparently the controller he’s using has REAL bad reviews because the connection always fails
  • These idiots paid $250k EACH but they had to pack their own lunch. Not even a damn charcuterie board
  • The pilot’s seat is on the toilet. So whenever someone needs to go, the pilot needs to move
  • There’s 1 window looking out. That’s it
  • It’s about the size of a minivan
  • The sub uses texts (but only to the CEO’s phone) to communicate, as well as StarLink, but they can only access that if they surface
  • The door literally cannot be opened from inside
  • There is a decent chance that at least 1 person has been cannibalized (my bet was the pilot since he’s not rich, but bc of the banging sounds, he’s probs not dead, so it may be the CEO)
  • They’re supposed to run out of oxygen tomorrow (22/06/23) at 7 am est, but tbh, the CO2 scrubber system will probs fail before that
  • The toilet is a plastic bag
  • This is only the 3rd time in 3 years the vessel has gone to the Titanic. Every other time, there’s an issue and they gotta turn back within like 4 hours
  • A lot of major news networks are trying to remain positive, but it’s a HILARIOUS comparison when you go to social media and every single person is like “yeah that shit is built like a cardboard boat, they’re fucked”
  • The company’s name is literally called OceanGate

Romantic love is not the only way for Achilles/ Patroclus to work. I have cried and became sad more often due to failed friendships than romantic ones. We have friends every day but if you stop talking and drift apart it will be devastating at least in my opinion.

Also at school (i am Greek) their relationship was really important to the story but we never questioned the sexuality or labeled it. It was a tragic tale of Achilles losing a person he loved, whether platonic or romantically it didn't matter, the loss is equally measured.

I really liked that one rb that said that the death of Patroclus was the death of Achilles as well. The nature of their relationship isn't as important as the fact that they care about each other deeply, enough so that Achilles loses his humanity along with Patroclus, and gives in to divine anger. Doomed and soul bound. Their fates are intertwined, regardless of how. Narrative wise, Patroclus is Achilles' humanity, being a demigod. he is, well, his heel haha.
