me, posting stuff for over 7 different fandoms at random all on the same blog:
The vegan to ecofascist pipeline
Actually I'm going to expand on the steps of the pipeline.
It starts with:
"I want to do something to better the environment". A noble pursuit.
Then, "Large scale animal agriculture is bad for the environment". Accurate statement.
Then, "Therefore, I am going to stop consuming all animal products and biproducts." A lofty goal, but still reasonable. It's not something that's for everyone, but if that's what you want to do to do your part, more power to you.
Then, "If I can do it, so can you." Inaccurate. The human body is suited ideally for an omnivorous lifestyle. While the human body is very adaptable, its adaptability varies from person to person, and not everyone is able to subsist off of a vegan lifestyle.
Then, "People who don't follow my lifestyle are maliciously contributing to climate change." We're going into dangerous 'us vs. them' territory now. Now everyone who consumes animal products and biproducts even utilyzes large-scale animal agriculture, and there are myriad of reasons for someone to not be vegan. Personal lifestyle choices are also a distraction from the larger issue at hand, which is that corporations contribute the most to climate change, and blaming yourself and other individuals is a distraction.
Then, "Human beings are responsible for climate change. Humans are inherently destructive." False. Corporations and industrialization is responsible for climate change. Humans are inherently neutral, and for the most part are actually good.
Then, "If there were less people on this Earth, we would have less climate change and pollution." And there we are. At the ecofascism finish line.
Not every vegan ends up at the ecofascist finish line. Many vegans stay comfortably on the third rung of the ladder, focusing on their own personal boundaries and lifestyle choices. However, as soon as you dip your toes into the "if I can do it, so can you" mentality, that's when the ball begins rolling down the slippery slope of ecofascism.
As soon as you begin forcing your lifestyle onto other people, that's when it becomes dangerous.
no ""terf"" in the world has even been against ""crossdressing"" literally the vast majority of us are gender non conforming. clothes are just clothes, men can wear dresses and women can wear suits and pants. this is something feminists have been fighting for since the very beginning. way to prove yet again you have no idea what radical feminism is about or what radical feminists believe
damn girl it's almost like I didn't say y'all were against crossdressing but that the shitty fuckinglaws you support directly fuck over gnc girls.
A girl was told to walk across her graduation stage in her underwear because she couldn't wear pants by the same school that told a trans girl she had to wear pants. WHY the fuck do you think that school felt empowered to do that? Maybe because of the current wave of transphobia that is emboldening homophobes? Because you fuckers are so blinded by your hatred of trans people you are the DEFINITION of "I didn't know the leopards-eating-faces party would eat MY face!!!!" get the fuck out of here.
It doesn't matter what you believe when your ACTIONS have real dangerous consequences for the GNC girls and women you SUPPOSEDLY care so damn much about. If you are GNC and you're transphobic, that's not a gotcha it's just an embarrassing statement about how such a """radical""" person is so unwilling to unwork her own internalized bigotry she'll cut off her nose to spite her face
@autumnal-cannibalism TERFs have the same relationship w/ GNC men as they do gay men. Where, when they have to engage with trans people (in this case, queer trans men), they go on tirades about how these trannies are trying to force gay men into heterosexual sex with our devious vaginas. But then they'll also talk about how penises are inherently oppressive and anal/oral sex is inherently harmful and bad and only non-penetrative sex between cis women can be ~pure~ and also all men should be killed because they're all biologically evil oppressors.
As a foreigner, the funniest thing about Käärijä being so unproblematic is that his music doesn't sound unproblematic.
Looking up lyrics of Yhtä vailla, I was bracing myself for 5 slurs and being told to go make him a sandwich. Meanwhile Yhtä vailla:
Yeah!! Also, Yhtä vailla is first and foremost about his relationship with gambling that apparently got a little out of hand when he was younger. To me the aggressive tone of the song perfectly embodies the kind of manic frustration you feel when you're left one (number/hit/strike etc) short from the jackpot, the kind that drowns the disappointment under the overwhelming urge to play one more round. It's such a unique approach from someone who got his artist name from one day's lucky streak with slot machines - it plays straight the ecstatic side of gambling whilst reminding the listener that after the highs and lows you'll just be left with an empty wallet. He problematizes the issue without being the slightest bit judgmental.
Aight since I got started on Käärijä's lyrical talent, let me use this excise to list and summarize some of my other favorites from his discography that also have surprising layers of depth, relatability, or straight up hilarity:
Z: The beginning fools you into thinking that the song is Käärijä's apology to his life partner waiting for him to come home after a long workday, but as the song progresses it's revealed through a dramatized dialogue that the real reason he's late is because he was fucking around on the commuter train with his friends and got busted trying to travel with a kid's ticket. Insanely fun song, made me howl with laughter in public the first time I heard it.
Kiertävä sirkus: Title translates as 'traveling circus', makes fun of the smoke and mirrors of the music industry (and Käärijä himself as a cog in that machine, because what's a Käärijä song where he doesn't make fun of himself) as well as the flexing culture of the rap scene. It's also a lovely homage to the working class, which Käärijä humbly puts above his own career in show business. Fun and introspective song.
Mic Mac: a love song to a wild and unruly but overall safe childhood spent in the nineties (as well as the rap scene that was huge among kids at the time). An absolutely heartwarming song for anyone of this generation, and the lyrics and the beat are tons of fun by themselves.
Viulunkieli: Title translates as 'violin string'. Another relatable af story about trying to have a fun night at the pub with your friends but the general mood is kind of eh and people are tired and tense and awkward. I feel like everyone with even a bit of history in nightlife has had that experience at least once.
Paidaton riehuja: Translates as 'shirtless maniac' or 'shirtless rampager', tho both of those are a bit off as the word riehuja refers to someone who behaves in an unruly manner but is typically harmless. A weird and fun body positivity song that can be summarized like this:
Käärijä: *takes his shirt off in public*
Disapproving bystander: umm can you put your shirt back on please
Käärijä: NO!!!! >:(
(The frowny face isn't included in the lyrics but it sure as hell comes through.)
Klo23: Translates as 11 PM, this is another fun one. It's about throwing an apocalypse-level house rave in your stamp-sized apartment (the same one Käärijä STILL lives in btw) that has to end precisely at 11 PM because you'd promised your neighbors it would be quiet by then. The contrast between wanting to live like a rock star and getting hit by low income realities is amazingly hilarious and sympathetic. Classic Käärijä vibes.
Hirttää kiinni: Hard to translate in a satisfying way but it's a slang term derived from car mechanics referring to that short circuit thing that you feel in your brain when your patience is being tested. It's about getting increasingly pissed over the most miniscule things on a bad day. This one is prolly my favorite (if we don't count Cha Cha Cha).
Uhhh anyway Käärijä's music good, sorry for hijacking this post etc etc 😅 Got a bit carried off there haha but I needed to get this out of my system
OMG That is so cute!!
Also the reason that the cat did this is actually because they are mirroring their owner. If their owner treats the thing (or in this case book) with respect and has made it very clear with their actions that the thing is important the cat will take notice and mirror this behavior!
Great addition! However, this is actually because the cat is Muslim.
I've seen a few people talk about how funny it is that a lot of people in Hyrule dont recognize Link unless they've met him before or have heard a good description of him bc yeah I don't think I'd be connecting that the strange blonde boy eating leaves off the ground is the hero of Hyrule either
did you know red snapper can live for over 50 years…. whatre they DOING down there ( this used to say 100 because i CAN NOT read )
SPITE

i think tumblr's love for The Female Penis is like, a good push, but honestly I wish I saw more positivity and art that was comfortable and positive abt other transfem features?? like idk. beard shadow and chins and broad shoulders and thin hips. That needs love too.
non-it/its users need to get their shit together fr
ok time to elaborate.
earlier today i was talking to someone and i mentioned one of my friends, and said 'yeah it was saying-' and before i could finish my sentence she interrupted me and went "it?" as if i'd misspoken. when i said "yeah, it said-" she looked at me as if i'd like insulted her or something and went "why are you calling your friends its? don't you mean they?"
i pretty much just went "nevermind" because that's not worth it (and no i'm not misgendering a friend for someone else's "comfort" like wtf) but the issue is
this. happens. every. time.
you tell someone else you use it/its? they look at you like you're fucking insane. 99% of the time they will refuse to use your pronouns because it's "offensive" to them (yknow what else is offensive? purposely misgendering me when i literally just told you my pronouns). when you talk about a friend who uses it/its pronouns, 99% of the time the other person will try to like. correct you or stop you even though they don't even know who you're talking about.
"well they/them is gender neutral too so just use th-" no. my pronouns are it/its. they/them is not it/its. they/them is misgendering.
"but it's gender neutra-" okay and? if dude said he uses he/him and you used they/them that's misgendering. why is it okay when it's it pronouns?
"but it's offensive to refer to people as-" bitch i am literally referring to myself as it/its. i am telling you directly in plain words that these are the pronouns that make me comfortable. i don't give a fuck what you think of them they are my pronouns
at this point i settle with they/them because i'm just done having people look at me like i said a slur when i tell them what pronouns i'm comfortable with.

i don't think people take me too serious when i say i'm legally blind. Like, guys I am legally never allowed to drive, I need assistance with a lot of stuff because I can't see. People both irl and online tend to be like "oh but you're not THAT BAD OFF" it's not a thing of whether my eyes are "that bad off" it doesn't matter, they're still blind. i still use magnifying and screen readers. i'm learning braille because my eyes are getting progressively worse and I'd like to be able to still read.
I may not be totally blind, but that's the thing, a lot of blind people AREN'T Totally blind. Blindness is a spectrum. and i don't think a lot of people realize that. And I'm just as valid in my blindness as someone on the spectrum with better eyesight than me, or someone with worse.
(This is OK to reblog. I hope that sighted people who might read this really get it into their heads that blindness is a spectrum...)
You work in a factory that builds intelligent war machines, built and forced to fight in a constant war. Out of either sympathy or habit, you head-pat every machine after every inspection. A seemingly harmless gesture… until men in suits pulled you from work and interrogated you about it.
“I’m sorry. Could you repeat that, please? I must have misheard you.” I was raised to be polite, and I’m not about to stop now (there are so many guns in this room) so I resist adding “because that is the fucking stupidest thing I have ever heard” to the end of the sentence. I may as well have spared myself the trouble. The cold face of the high-ranking military man on the other side of the table only gets, if this is possible, colder. His lips are pressed flat, and I think there might be some sort of undiagnosed blood pressure problem, because he’s turning a very unnatural purple. “Every. Goddamn. One. Of the units that have come through your maintenance line in the last six months are now showing signs of instability. If you can’t identify the problem for me in the next five minutes, you and everyone you know are going to spend the rest of your lives in high-security prison.”
I might be turning a funny color now myself.
