For too many people, flexible working & self-employment are a necessity rather than a choice - Clive Lewis
Clive Lewis MP, Labour’s Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, commenting on the news that self-employed workers are earning less than they were in 1995, said
“This news makes a mockery of the Government’s claim that the labour market is doing well.
“Technology is radically reshaping working practices and creating exciting new opportunities for the world of work. But Tory failure to adjust to these changes means that, for too many people, flexible working and self-employment are a necessity rather than a choice, and come with lower pay and fewer rights.
“With Workplace 2020, Labour are having a national conversation about how to harness new technologies to create the kinds of working lives we want. This Government is taking us backwards.”
