Update:

"i'm sorry if you got offended (because you're too daft to understand our "humour")" is not an apology

At first I didn't understand why they called us diaspora, and then it clicked... Because ukrainians can't speak English, obviously! We are all primitive tribespeople who live in mud huts and fight off russians with spears! Our brains are too small to comprehend such a complex and difficult (lmao) language as English!

psa if you are a young person from the west whose familie has lived in the west for ages and who has no idea what life in Eastern European post-soviet countries is or was like you should shut your face hole and listen to people who do.

Twitter, tumblr or tiktok are not the place you can use to educate yourself. You do not become a political expert after reading 15 posts and watching 23 30-second videos; you are still an immature, inexperienced teen who doesn't know what the f u c k they're talking about

If you are actually interested in politics, be it communism or something else, stop regurgitating tankie bullshit you see on the internet and go read a book. Watch some documentaries. If you want to focus on socialism specifically, contact somebody who lived in the soviet union and talk to them. Ask them what life was like, ask them to tell some stories.

After you've done that, think critically about the info you just received. Form your own, independent opinion.

Congrats! You are now ready to go on the internet and participate in discourse. Now your opinion matters and you can contribute something valuable.

Resources For Writing Deaf, Mute, or Blind Characters

Despite the fact that I am not deaf, mute, or blind myself, one of the most common questions I receive is how to portray characters with these disabilities in fiction.

As such, I’ve compiled the resources I’ve accumulated (from real life Deaf, mute, or blind people) into a handy masterlist.

Deaf Characters:

Dialogue with signing characters (also applies to mute characters.)

Mute Characters

Blind Characters:

Characters Who Are Blind in One Eye

Deaf-Blind Characters

If you have any more resources to add, let me know!  I’ll be adding to this post as I find more resources.

I hope this helps, and happy writing!  <3

12/26/2020 update!

Based on recommendations from followers, I capitalized Deaf out of respect and acknowledgement of the Deaf Community, and added some sources about Black Deaf Culture and BASL. Will definitely be adding more.

I also want to include more articles specific to Selective Mutism, but need to do some more research first.

Thank you, everyone, and happy writing!

studysection:
Hey guys! As a writer myself, it’s hard to have a lot of resources for writing in one place. That’s why I decided to create this masterpost, and maybe make more if I find future resources. I hope you like it, and expect to see more masterposts like this in the future!
