30 Day Royai AU Challenge #1

Hello, internet realm, it is I, a small writer. 

So, today marks the beginning of the 30 AUs I’m going to be writing (and publishing) both here and on fanfiction.net. Now, seeing as I do have a life, there won’t be a fanfic a day - but there will be 30 0f them. (I promise!) This challenge in particular was suggested/I was stalking their blog and found it by @the-flame-and-hawks-eye

Title: Roylaxation 

AU: Coffeeshop (with young Roy and Riza, about the time they first met)

Summary: Riza always was the type of person who needed a schedule, and Roy was determined to change that. No matter how many times he had to cry about not having some sort of fruit in his coffee, how many different drinks he had to order, or whether she liked it or not, he will get her to relax.

Something I’ve noticed as I edit an amv

Riza is usually on the left side of the screen when we see her and Roy from the side. Coincidentally Riza walks on Roy’s left.

There are exceptions of course. But the biggest one, which also happens to be one of Roy and Riza’s biggest scenes is…

I don’t know if it was done on purpose or not but I thought it was interesting.

General Military Etiquette:

“The senior person receives the position of honor. The junior takes the position to the senior’s left.”

Throughout the series, Mustang and Hawkeye abide by this code of etiquette.

 This is a pivotal moment.

 Everything, and I mean everything, is on the line here. Their lives. Their futures. All of the sacrifices they’ve made for their mutual goal. Everything they’ve split blood and tears for. 

In this moment, all of it is jeopardized by Mustang’s overwhelming hatred and blood-lust for the being that murdered his closest friend.

With his back completely to her, Mustang has a choice. Depending on the way he turns to face her, he can either keep himself in, or take himself out of a “position of honor.”

His decision is clear.

By facing her and lowering her weapon with his left hand, Mustang is reinforcing his words directly and immediately through his actions. 

He’ll remain in his position of honor… as long as he still has her.

Eyes Cannot See

Here is that lovely AU one-shot that was proposed to me today by a person I have dubbed “Wonderful Anon,” which was:  AU where Riza loses her voice on the Promised Day, and Roy can’t get his sight back. (both conditions can be temporary…or not). Communication is difficult, as you could imagine.
