I accidentally burned up my entire social battery on Twitter last night, so here are a few more names before I take a brief break from both sites:

USC Trojan Team Nurses: Jeffrey Davis, Ashley Young, Binh Nguyen

USC Trojan Assistants: Angela Lewis (Angie), Antonio Jones (Tony), Roberta Blackwell (Bobby)

... Maybe this December we'll get around to the players, but have some numbers in the meantime (keeping in mind these numbers are accurate for the academic year after AftG):

Strikers : 8 Dealers : 5 Backliners : 12 Goalkeepers : 4

“[The Hunger Games series is] a character study, one designed to take down the trope of the uber-competent action hero. It’s a picture of heroism tempered by a post-Vietnam understanding of post-traumatic stress. Katniss is absolutely an uber-competent action hero. But she doesn’t have any of the trappings normally associated with that character type. She isn’t in charge — she’s never in charge. She’s reactive, she’s a tool, she’s constantly being manipulated and she knows it, but there’s not much she can do about it. She isn’t going to get a reward. She isn’t going to win romance or acclaim, or even safety. She never smiles because her victories aren’t celebrations. She’s deeply, deeply broken, and that’s the point. I’ve never seen a character quite like Katniss.”

The dichotomy of the the Ravens living underground, unable to fly, and the Foxes living on the top floor of Fox Tower, watching over the campus like birds of prey, keeps me awake at night.

Do you ever think how Neil was trained to react to danger quickly? How it was ingrained into him since birth, to act on instinct, to act immediately, and still Aaron beat him to it?

How when it came to Andrew, Aaron didn’t even need that split second Neil took to assess the situation before he went for the kill? There was no hesitation, not when it came to him.

Aaron, who usually watches conflict from the sidelines. He’s not familiar with those instincts, his body doesn’t have that same muscle memory associated with violence.

And yet:

Neil sees too much blood and too much skin. He knows what he is seeing, but can’t believe it yet. That doesnt stop him from leaping at Drake.
Aaron is faster.
Aaron barrels past Neil and brings Neil's racquet up and around in an underhanded swing so hard and fast air whistled through the tight strings.”

Faster than Neil.

"Why would I be running?" "Because you're a part of it." "Part of what? I don't know anybody here. I'm a tourist." "Tourists don't run." "But I'm not running."
