We have a container of dry milk because in addition to a little fat and sugars, it contains proteins, which settle into the pores of nitrocellulose membranes, making sure analytical proteins (specific antibodies) don’t get trapped. We could just use casein (one of the proteins in milk), but milk is much cheaper and can also be found at Walmart.

People who claim not to understand what cisgender means do in fact understand what cisgender means.
It's a very simple concept, it means not transgender (well it means your gender identity aligns with your assigned gender etc. etc. but the former definition is definitely how they are gonna understand it)
So yeah, they get it, the issue isn't their understanding its that they don't want the term to exist period. They don't want to be cisgender they want to be Normal. They want their status as Not Trans to be so ubiquitous, so universal, so unquestionable that it doesn't NEED a term to define it. And they're (badly) disguising that by just being soooo confuuused.
Giving it a word solidifies it not as the basic state of existence but as one state of existence amongst many, it gives power and validity to the term transgender by matching its terminology.
They don't want cisgender to exist because they don't want transgender to exist because they don't want trans people to exist.
And no amount of carefully explaining the definition of the word to them is going to change that. You're wasting your breath.
