Hey hey hey! Guess who's in this zine!!

I can finally share this piece with you guys! This is my piece for a local fairy tales-themed charity artbook. I drew mine with my love for nutcrackers and, of course, Charlotte Nebres in mind. It was quite a hassla drawing this but thanks to this very piece I discovered my preferred style for digital art!

honestly? starting to flip the canvas during the drawing process improved my art so much yeehaw

top 10 art tips from chaboy in no particular order:

1. canvas flipping good even if painful

2. draw whatever makes u happy. be self indulgent. draw nonsense that caters to only you personally

3. just fucking fake being able to draw things like hands and eventually you can actually do it without even thinking about it

4. take breaks when it doesn’t come out right

5. remember that you’re the god of this reality and can draw WHATEVER THE FUCK. be absolutely drunk with power. nobody can stop you. unless its like morally wrong like dont draw incest or whatever. incest is bad still

6. use references

7. originality is a myth and literally every artist started copying their style from something or someone, that’s how you develop your own style. everyone does it. people who make fun of kids for copying the styles of their favourite shows/artists can choke

10. litchrally just have fun

if art isnt treating you right

- don’t erase the stuff you’ve already drawn, just make the layer invisible. if you’re anything like me then deleting in process sketches has a very light subconscious negative effect on how the drawing is turning out.

- don’t draw your sketches on white, especially if your brush is black. white is hard to draw on. change it to grey. trust me on this.

- if a sketch is almost there but not quite try mirroring it horizontally. the issues will be way easier to spot.

-if inking isnt your thing but you want outlines just paint your color over the sketch lines, then do the ink lines last.

- if you have lots of ideas but no patience with details like myself take to tiny tiny thumbnails. like im talking barely bigger than your thumb. it forces you to look at the whole picture and not just the details.

- if tiny doesnt work/you like detailing go opposite. draw REALLY huge and work your way through.
