Are Sheppard/Teyla canon in the books?
As far as I'm concerned, yes. The authors can't explicitly say or write it as truly "canon" b/c of MGM and tptb. So they've hidden in some pretty -imo- heavy implications. Here's just a few examples I found that I had bookmarked. These are from book 2 and 3, I think.
I highly suggest the read. They are fairly cheap and entertaining. I know this series is a bit love or hate with fans, but I side with the love. Some decisions were "ehhh" but they were still interesting. I actually REALLY liked the Wraith lore and seeing things from their perspective and their culture and origins. I liked seeing old faces come back we could never have seen in the show. I like what we got of Sheyla but you can tell the authors had some restraints, and the later books in the series doesn't focus on them as much as they did in the first books. But that doesn't make them uninteresting. I'm a hardcore Sheyla fan but also just a big SGA fan, so they appealed to me, especially with them wrapping things up. I remember book 2 also having Carson get whumped and then getting high and silly on pain killers. That was just fun to read. I would seriously recommend them.
Feel free to message me off anon or in the IM, I'm always up for talking about the books. :)
