Reminder for all Jews with invisible disabilities: I want to remind everyone to be extra aware of how we are pressured by society to ignore the consequences of our disabilities because our disabilities are not apparent to others who do not pay attention. There is a lot of pressure right now to fast for Yom Kippur. Most of us understand that we are supposed to abstain from fasting if fasting would cause harm to our health.
Remember that the risk to our health does not need to be apparent to other people to be valid! If you have an invisible disability that could interact poorly with fasting such as diabetes, a history of eating disorders, or a mood disorder you deserve to take care of yourself.
Talk to your rabbi about how you can modify your religious observance in order to take care of your needs.
