why the hell would i queue anything. i’m gonna bombard you with five hundred unrelated posts about all of my current hyperfixations and then go dead silent for seven months, like a ghost. like the spider you’re sure you saw in the corner of your room. like a nuclear submarine navigating through enemy waters. you shouldn’t have followed me.

jake the dog isn’t actually a dog, he’s an agent of pure chaos

love how this implies there are agents of impure chaos. i'm desperate to know more

say what you will about pirates of the caribbean, but sometimes i think the best inversion of shakespeare's, "Though all things foul would wear the brows of grace/ Yet grace must still look so," came from jack sparrow when he said, "A dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly, it's the honest ones you've got to watch out for. Cause you never know when they're going to do something incredibly... stupid." somehow, this is about djt and marjorie taylor greene

Good art reflects your own biases back at you, your worldviews, your assumptions, your fears. It makes you sit in your discomfort and question it, makes you question the shadows on the cave wall of your life.

Bad art sees that discomfort people have with good art, and assumes discomfort in and of itself is the goal, rather than just a byproduct. So bad artists literally just shit out stuff for a quick emotional reaction that they themselves don’t understand, seeing discomfort or even disgust as the sole goal that they praise themselves for achieving. This post wasn’t about the show Velma until I typed all that out but like

As a fic writer, i need every reader to know that:

  • I don’t care if your comment is coherent. I know what you mean and i love you
  • I don’t care if you ramble. I read every word and i love you
  • I don’t care if you leave a comment on a fic from four years ago or leave comments/kudos on like ten of my fics in one go. This isn’t IG, pls stalk my AO3. I love you
  • I don’t care if you mention the same thing in your comment that four other people have already mentioned. It’s actually really useful to know what resonated with people and I love everyone who takes the time to tell me they liked a particular turn of phrase
  • I don’t mind if your comment is super long or just a couple of sentences, i love them all
  • I love you

the actual reason I consume mediocre media is because I have bad taste. the deeper secret pretentious reason is because I think there’s something very revealing about bad media that you don’t get with good media. when you watch a poorly executed plot point unfold, you see the machinery behind it. you see the gap between what’s actually on screen and the true goal the author is striving for. if it’s particularly awful, you can even measure just how poorly mismatched the author’s skills are with the story they’re trying to tell you. watching a poorly executed narrative play out feels like you’re discovering something, because you see all the wiring and guts underneath that better authors hide from you, in the same way that movies hide boom mics and books make you forget you’re turning the pages. if a story is good and executed well you just see the story. but I want to see the guts and wires!

also I like complaining a lot

i don’t know. it’s interesting. the fanfiction that represents tony the most honestly is almost always the fanfiction that’s not about him. the stories where he hovers in the peripheries. the stories where steve flirts horribly with sam, or bucky and natasha kill men with nail files, or phil and clint finally do something about their terrible, burgeoning, unspoken loves. the stories where tony only swoops out of the sky to benevolently rain gifts upon the avengers, like a manic pixie fairy godmother, where he takes morgan out on play dates with kate bishop, where he bullies steve out of his incredibly stupid self-imposed hermitude, where he takes pepper out dancing while the rest of the avengers stare on in repressed, semi-jealous, stiff-upper-lipped longing that tony stark, somehow, is the only team member in a (semi) functional long term relationship. side-character!tony is crisply tailored, and never woobified, and a huge gossip, and bad at secrets, and incredibly, relentlessly competent. i love side-character!tony.

Anonymous asked:

do you listen to fall out boy or mcr?
