butterfly - oh haewon x fem!reader
synopsis: haewon was always a strict leader except when she was with you…
“lily can you please stop belting out to taylor. kyujin is about to be put on academic probation and you sing-screaming isn’t helping.” you heard haewon scolding everyone around the dorm for simply breathing.
if you were honest, her scolding was more distracting than anything your other members were doing since it was easier to tune them out. “kyu, you have to memorize these formulas or the graphs won’t make any sense.”
she sighed and nodded. the younger girl kept looking back and forth between her computer screen and her notebook. out if the corner of your eye you could see haewon staring at the two of you.
haewon was an amazing leader but she definitely needed to hand off the responsibility for a while. you heard sniffling and you broke out of your train of thought. “hey, don’t cry. it’s a difficult topic.”
kyujin shook her head, “i’m never going to understand it and if i fail i’ll have mandatory attendance. i cant ruin nmixx just because i can’t understand some stupid math.” you reassured her, “you won’t ruin anything. we’ll get you to pass. there’s going to be no hiatus just because you can’t understand it right now.”
haewon noticed kyujin crying and came over with a frown, “kyujin-ah… go take a break.” she nodded and got up to calm herself down. you leaned back and slouched on the couch and your leader mirrored you.
“you don’t have to tutor her, you know.” you sighed, “i know but she’d be uncomfortable if we hired a tutor plus our working hours are a little inconvenient for a tutor. i just don’t know how to explain the equations work.”
haewon turned to you, “you’re doing fine. she’s studying more with you and her other subjects are doing better.” you hummed and grabbed your phone, “wonnie, you should really apologize to lily unnie and the rest of the members. kyujin doing homework doesn’t mean everyone cant have fun.”
she pouted at you, “do i really need to?” you sat up and looked at her pointedly, “apologize.” she sighed and stood up, “fine but you better get kyujin amazing grades for this.” you chuckled and pointed towards lily’s door.

haewon walked out of her room holding her head, “oh my god. jinsol can you please quiet down? i can hear your laughter with my headphones in.” you turned around and wiped your tears from your eyes, “haewon-ah, you just missed it.”
the shorter girls annoyed expressed melted away when she saw you, “oh uh.” you exclaimed, “oh yeah! your migraine. we’ll shut up now. sorry…” you cringed at the thought of making haewon’s migraine worse.
she waved you off and turned around to go back to her room. you turned back to jinsol and jiwoo who were looking at you with wide eyes, “woah. you tamed migraine haewon.”
jinsol dropped to her knees and clasped her hands together, “teach me your ways. i’ll pay you or do all your house chores.” you rolled your eyes and lifted the younger girl up, “i have no ways. she’s like this with everyone.”
jiwoo snorted, “that’s a whole lie. haewon loves us but not enough to not yell at us. she’ll scold us worse than our own parents. she even scolds lily, but with you it’s different.” you blushed at the thought and then shook your head, “you just catch her at a bad time.” the two younger girls looked at each other, but shrugged and went back to quietly joking around.

promotions were some of the best times to be an idol because you got to see the pay off of the months and months of work and practice. unfortunately, they were just as exhausting as they were enjoyable.
kyujin pushed you into the bathroom so that you would get ready for bed instead of immediately sleeping. after a very sloppily done skin care routine and falling asleep whilst brushing your teeth, you finally fell on your bed and closed your eyes.
right as you we’re about to slip into your very needed sleep you felt the bed dip. “y/n-ah, are you awake?” you tried to lift your head up but your whole body felt like it was filled with lead.
the other person pulled your legs onto the bed and lifted the blanket over you, “you’ll get sick if you don’t sleep with a blanket.” if you had the energy to open your eyes you would’ve seen haewon stutter as she debated whether or not to stay in your room.
you knew what option she picked when you felt lay down next to you. the warmth from both the blanket and the person next to you lulled you to sleep faster than you could realize.
—
the cold vinyl flooring mixed with the blaring air conditioner was helping you cool down from two hours of nonstop practice. with your cheek pressed to the ground, you closed your eyes for a second.
you could hear lily and kyujin giggling over something. the five minute break that the choreographer had allowed you was quickly approaching its end.
you opened your eyes when you felt someone staring to see haewon laying down next to you. she smiled slightly and made a face before blowing air onto your face. you covered your face with a groan, “stop it.”
after feeling the air stop hitting your hands you removed them to see her grinning, “we need to get into formation.” you frowned, “five more minutes?” she sighed and then nodded, “okay five more minutes. after that we really need to practice.”

music shows were like watching a wall of paint dry. you had to be there for an entire day but most of it was spent sitting and waiting for your rehearsal and performance.
lily and haewon were doing vocal warm ups whilst the rest of your members were eating or resting. you were scrolling through your messages when haewon plopped down next to you.
she handed you a fork and pushed her plate of food towards you. you chuckled, “how’d you get food so fast? i thought you were doing warmups.” she urged you to eat, “you zoned out. i wasn’t any faster than normal.”
you looked at her with a weird expression which cut haewons patience short. she grabbed her own fork and fed you a piece of meat, “if you don’t eat you’ll have no energy for the stage, but if you eat later you’ll get a cramp.”
she switched your forks as you ate together. jinsol walked over to you and sat by haewon, “unnie, can you feed me?” she looked at haewon with puppy eyes and pouted with a sarcastic voice.
haewon looked at her with disgust, “go away.” the younger girl sighed as yoona and kyujin laughed at her failed attempt. jinsol turned around, “it’s so unfair how you treat y/n better than us.”
haewon looked at you when she responded, “i don’t treat her better than any of you.” you nodded and continued to eat, not noticing haewons lingering stare.

with a pained groan you sat down on the couch. you were always conscious when it came to injuries, but doing random dance play for a variety show on uneven gravel wasn’t a good idea.
the rest of your members had to go to a company dinner so you were left alone for a few hours. the doctor said you had only rolled your ankle and the inflammation would subside in a few days.
fortunately you weren’t promoting and simply doing variety shows and practices. you heard the door open but you couldn’t turn around to see who it was.
“y/n-ah.” you smiled, “hi haewonnie. why aren’t you at the dinner?” you heard the fridge open and then felt something cold press your neck, “you gotta ice your ankle.” you giggled, “then why are you icing my neck?”
haewon placed the ice pack around your ankle and handed you a to-go box, “i ordered your meal at the restaurant. i didn’t want you to feel left out.” you couldn’t help but blush at the thought of haewon attending the dinner just to get you food and leave.
“thank you.” she hummed and sat next to you with her own plate of food. you thought about all the instances where haewon took care of you and cleared your throat, “why do you treat me differently than everyone else?”
“i don’t.” you knew haewon was lying, “okay maybe i do. i just care about you.” you leaned forward to look at her face, “and you don’t care about the other 5?”
she shook her head, “i do care about them, just not the way i care about you.” “and what way is that?” haewon turned to face you, “do i really have to spell it out for you?” “i just want to hear you say it.”
she cleared her throat, “i like you and because of that i want to take care of you.” you grinned, “oh haewon likes me?” you teased her and poked at her face, “stop it or i’ll take it back.”
you dropped your hand, “no you won’t.” “yeah i won’t.” she sighed, “this doesn’t make you feel awkward or uncomfortable?” you shook your head, “haewon i’ve known you liked me for months.”
she gasped, “and you haven’t done anything?” “you haven’t done anything either.” she smacked your arm, “i didn’t know you knew or how you felt about me.” with a shrug and grabbed her hand, “like i said, i wanted to hear it from you.”
she leaned onto your shoulder, “you’re kind of an asshole for that.” you giggled, “you’re kind of a coward for that.” “mm, touché.” you tried to move closer but hissed at the pain.
“stop moving your ankle.” you sighed, “so now you want to scold me?” “i have to be nicer to our members so i’ll be strict with you.” you pushed her off of you playfully, “i don’t like this arrangement.” haewon moved back to her original position and hugged you, “you’ll live.” “i’ll live.”
