Hello everyone! Welcome to the character foils showdown. Character foils are an excellent narrative tool and go painfully unappreciated. So this is meant to give them some love!
Character foils are two characters who parallel each other in the narrative. They contrast each other, highlighting their similarities and differences to strengthen the narrative. Are they two people who react very differently to the same situation? Are they a reflection of what the other could've been? Are they people who are extremely similar but were shaped by their different situations? Are they two incredibly different people with one or two key similarities that the narrative uses to parallel them? They can be executed many many different ways. And often, they add to the story very well. This is all about them.
RULES:
1. I will not be accepting submissions from Harry Potter or South Park.
2. Be civil with the other voters! Do not say "why would you vote for [x]", "[x] doesn't deserve to win", etc. Also, do not attack the media the contestant is from. Nobody wants to hear you talking about how that show sucks and is horribly written and anyone who likes it deserves nothing (Yes, I've seen that shit on other polls. I wish I was joking.) Seriously guys, be civil. This is a poll on the internet.
3. You can submit more than one pair, but please don't submit the same pair more than once for the sake of my sanity /lh
4. This is gonna take a while because A. This is my first poll, and B. I am kinda busy, sorry. Please be patient!
5. Please do not tag adult and minor or familial foils as ships. No thank you.
6. Propaganda is encouraged, but please be civil to others in your propaganda. Again, remember rule two! If I feel like you're being particularly toxic, I have the right to block you.

Hello! I'm writing this in advance of Chara's next match-up in the tournament against Rose Quartz because, as an Undertale and SU fan, I know it's gonna be a tough one. The ways in which Rose Quartz haunts Steven Universe (the character and the show) are all fairly obvious for people familiar even with just the show's premise.
But Chara haunts UnderTale's narrative just as strongly, if not as obviously. If you already know that and want to vote for them, here's the link to the poll. But, even tho im betraying my mutual, i gotta give it to rose.
Cuz on one hand, Chara is literally haunting the narrative, at least in the genocide route lil guy shows up and everything like a jumpscary ghost and all and talks to the player even.
But thats why im giving my vote to rose.
Cuz rose is dead.
All of her appearances are flashbacks or recordings, rose is dead. Shes gone. Steven, who shares his pov with the audience, never meets her.
And even both in UT and SU most conflicts can be traced back to chara and rose, i think her impact on the SU universe is just bigger.
If chara never went to the underground the personal lives of many characters would be different yes, but the world itself not so much.
Rose on the other hand, if she never showed up, if pink diamond remained pink diamond,
Earth would be gone
The entire planet just dead, gem war never happens, most characters wouldn't even exist.

once again saying. stop using spotify. the 1-2 punch of bandcamp and piracy is cool and good. renting access to your music library is bad and spotify is at the point where it needs to actually become profitable or its going to collapse. and its not going to become profitable. its going to get worse and more expensive and then collapse taking your entire library with it. get ahead of it start building an offline music library before your current rented library gets ethered
get a list of everything in your library so you can find the music again elsewhere. i dont have spotify so i cant test it but something like this
