We - and by we, I mean, white feminists - need to talk about how Dylann Storm Roof, the Charleston terrorist, used white female purity to justify murdering black people.

And white feminists absolutely NEED TO REPUDIATE this myth, because white women’s tacit approval - and sometimes vocal agreement - with this myth is part of what allows this terrorism to happen. 

People like Dylann Storm believe white women need to be protected from black men. 

We don’t.

If you go into the hell which is the comments on this post, you see at least one person spouting the rhetoric that a) it is on the hugged to inform everyone to not hug them and b) asking for consent to a hug kills the moment.

if you believe the first one, you are asking me to waste most people’s time–most people won’t want to hug me. Or you’re asking me to kill a moment by telling someone to get off me. Trust me, that’s a friendship-killer. I know this because I actually did have to tell someone not to hug me anymore, and he basically stopped talking to me. 

If you believe the second one, that asking kills the gesture and the emotion, well you are literally why I hate people and social interaction. Because you put your fear of rejection (you know the only reason you hate asking is that i might say no) over my personal boundaries. 

so to reiterate what the post says: Just ask.

and accept no with grace

Do not forget. Always ask consent. It is the right thing to do regardless of your religious or spiritual beliefs and practices

Even just pausing briefly with your arms open is greatly appreciated! This invites the other person to initiate the hug if they want it, or to politely shake their head or say no if they don’t! If there is hesitation, they are most likely uncomfortable but don’t want to hurt your feelings, so it’s best to just not. Don’t try to force things on others they don’t want, even if it seems like it’s not a big deal. You never know what someone has been through in their lives. If someone does “reject” the hug, please let them know that it’s okay! Many people who have issues with hugs/other forms of physical contact worry that others may dislike them or be upset because of it, and a little reassurance can go a long way :)

anyone regardless race or gender can have adhd. also, its not only about hyperactivity. it is a combination of different symptoms and everyone with adhd tends have different combination of symptoms. here are some example symptoms ones:

Dunno if those symptoms covers it, but there’s also ADD, where it’s same just w/o the hyperactivity in physical form, I think. Sometimes refereed to as “The Silent ADHD” But the example symptoms covers most of it.

actually ADD is actually just an old term for type 2 ADHD

My dad, my brother, and I all have varying degrees/manifestations of ADHD. It’s nice to see something like this circulating, it’s really validating knowing people are acknowledging that this is a real issue and not just an excuse for hyper, poorly-disciplined children.

My dog won by a large amount of votes as ‘cutest pet’ for the local newspaper. But because he’s a pitbull he was not given the prize or recognition. So disappointed with the ignorance of this town. At least I know Valentino is the cutest pet in this town.

Natural Black Hair Tutorial! Usually Black hair is excluded in the hair tutorials which I have seen so I have gone through it in depth because it’s really not enough to tell someone simply, “Black hair is really curly, draw it really curly.”
