Summary: Finn makes a fool out of himself and his brothers doesn’t help.
The store is old and dusty. No matter how many times you mop up the creaking floor or wipe down the shelves, your fingertips get black every day by the time you get home. It’s not a surprise, though. It often seems like Birmingham is nothing more than smoke and coal.
The rare sunlight which can fight its way through the blackness over the city is very appreciated and needed. Even if you sit at the window, enjoying the lukewarm sunlight, you feel cold. Your legs are on the window hill, and a worn book lays on your lap as you look out of the streets. People pass by, not even paying a glance to your small bookshop.
Your attention focused on a small group of young men across the road in front of you. You recognize them immediately by their newsboy cap and three-piece suits. They laugh at something every now and then while smoking and pushing each other playfully. You are so engrossed watching them you don’t even notice one of them staring at you until your gazes meet. You jump from the sudden contact, and you look away immediately. Grabbing the book on your lap, you try to stop yourself from glancing at him under your eyelashes. You definitely don’t want to anger the Peaky Blinders.
