Hello! I decided to do a research presentation on the "cannibalism" tag and it's relations to the MCYT communities on AO3! I looked into time frames, overall fandom data, individual character data and made a hopefully coherent conclusion on the information I gathered. I will be posting a link to my very messy excel file where I stored the base information via reblog, so check the notes.

I used canva for the statistics graphs and indesign to put this together... And a big big thank you and a shout out to my very good friend @theslyvoid9 who made 99% of the drawings used in this presentation and who also helped me look up data!!!

The conclusion I'm getting here is that we need to up the cannibalism game in the Evo tag. Ok, who's gonna be the brave soldier writing them?

Guys, question time: if the Watchers eat players is that cannibalism? They are gods, different beings are they not?

And if no what does that mean to Grian? Does Watcher Grian eating somebody count as cannibalism?

These are the real question we all should be asking ourselves

Technically speaking some of the Watchers used to be players as well, right? If we then think about how half gods in ancient Greece could ascend to godhood, I conclude that…

Practically it would not be cannibalism. Since they are not the same species anymore.

And once they have left to become watchers, we actually never see the player in EVO again, which leads me to the assumption that Grian should no longer be a player but a Watcher entity. That does not mean he is human. Or a player. (Only talking about EVO Grian)

If he were to eat another Watcher however, it can be considered cannibalism, by official definition of: the practice of eating the flesh of one's own species.

Tbh I still can’t believe that hermitcraft s9 has been so long that we’ve been through two complete life series with a significant break between the two

Like, okay, for a general timeline

-hermitcraft season 9 started in March 2022

-Double Life didn’t start until JUNE 2022

-the empires x hermitcraft crossover started in October 2022

-Limited Life started in MARCH 2023 and just ended

AND HERMITCRAFT SEASON 9 IS STILL GOING

And this is how long Season 9 is compared to the previous seasons - it’s already longer than Season 1 and Season 4 (and Season 8 obviously), and not far behind Season 5.

Actually, before Season 9 overtook Season 8 in length even, I set up some formulas to calculate which date it would be for Season 9 to overtake each of the previous seasons, which you can see here:

It’s currently early May, in two months time Season 9 will be longer than all of the previous seasons bar one. And there is no evidence to me that Season 9 will end before the end of July, as there is still so much going on. Will we make it all the way until October? Not sure yet, but quite possibly. But either way, Season 9 will be either the longest or second longest season of Hermitcraft ever, I believe

Happy Season 9 becoming the second longest season day! Today’s the 9th of July so now we’ve overtaken Season 5 (early June), Season 7 (late June), and Season 2 and 3 (as of today).

Now to go from being the second longest season to the longest season, we just need to wait until the 9th of October this year... and given the entire Buttercups vs Doc situation that is just starting, along with Decked Out, Etho and Ren’s boat course, Gem needing to decorate with the cherry wood, etc etc... we definitely have a while to go, and may well last another three months at least!
