I’m not going to go on a long rant about this now, but I just want to say as an LGBT person, as a queer person, this finale was SO EMOTIONAL. I hadn’t realized, until watching this, how much of the entertainment I consumed as a kid, how nearly all the characters I related to and saw myself in, sacrifice themselves “for the greater good”. THAT’S SUCH A DAMAGING MESSAGE FOR YOUNG LGBT PEOPLE!!! When you grow up and start trying to come out, all you can think is, I’m ruining my life and my friends and family’s lives by being this way, I’m being selfish, I should just be straight, that would make everyone else happy. If you already have this idea in your head that being a good person always means putting yourself last and everyone else first, that’s the exact kind of ideology that keeps people in the closet for most, if not all, of their lives. Please, please, please: normalize heroes choosing love and happiness, and prioritizing themselves and their needs. The generation growing up now, especially the queer kids, will thank us for it!

I am being told I WILL go back in Aug. no matter what. All my students will be in my room, all day long, five days a week. I am scared and anxious about it all....
I know this is about schools in the States, but honestly, this is a huge fear and concern of mine as well. Right now, I have no idea what September is going to look like, because there’s no plan in place - not that Ford and Lecce could come up with a feasible plan.
My biggest concern is that they will try to push a “business as usual” plan, which it’s not. Did I enjoy doing virtual teaching? Not really. Would it make my job A LOT harder to do it virtually come September? Definitely (It’s hard to introduce and teach a second language when you’re not around it all the time). But I’ll do it if it means students AND staff stay safe and healthy.
My mom taught kindergarten and first grade the whole time I was growing up and living at home, and what this teacher describes is extremely accurate not just for her, but for all the other teachers I got to know who my mom worked with. They donate tons of their own money to buy the necessities for their classrooms. They are not going to be provided with protective gear, as our doctors and nurses have been, but they will be expected to interact and care for their young charges with the same degree of intimacy and compassion. The risk we are putting them in by reopening is unimaginable.

Avatar: How about the theme no one is truly evil. Everyone can be redeemed. You always have a choice. Friendships last more than one life time... all while having the world almost burn into a fiery flame and our main protagonists having to wonder if they truly believe in all the themes I just mentioned.
Over the Garden Wall: What about having a show where it’s just big metaphor for the after life and it’s kids wondering in the grey area between life and death. Along the way they learn how to truly treat each other as brothers... and make it only slightly scarring.
Gravity Falls: I love what your doing with the sightly scarring bit but what if we adding the theme of all good things must come to an end, You don’t know everyone’s situation, and life is a mystery so go out and solve it. Also let’s add some codes for kids to crack... because they’re smart.
Steven Universe: Okay but what about the theme love conquers all but also show the hardship war and destructive love has on people and how it can hurt people even thousands of years after the fact, but it’s never too late to try and make it better... also make it have queer representation.
She-ra: See, I like what your doing with that queer representation... but what if we showed that abuse victims don’t have to continue the cycle even if it seems like they reached a point of no return, they can become better. Also show that everyone has the power to be good but not everyone will choose to be good, and you can be selfish sometimes... also let’s show an wlw that has no mentions of homophobia... because lesbians with swords.
