matsulight and lawlight are both tragic because they could have worked out if light didnt have the death note but in very different ways. the fact of the death note denies matsuda and light their true potential of allowing the mutual respect and trust they have for each other to blossom without the invisible veil of a giant lie, to have dinner and TV on the yagami couch, to be coworkers and friends before they're lovers, to have something almost mundane. the fact of the death note denies L and light their true potential of doxxing each other on chess dot com and having a meet cute when light, in an act of gamer rage, keys L's car for being a freak in the grocery store but jokes on him L's into that shit
If you want to write a dumb little story with a dumb little plot and ridiculously silly characters. No one's stopping you. Genuinely, no one should be allowed to stop you. Write that dumb story with your whole heart and don't hold back.

to misgender someone because they're horrible is to admit that you don't actually think someone's own perception of their identity is valid, and you only afford others gender affirmation because you see it as a magnanimous gift rather than just. using the correct name and pronouns, you know, like you do when talking about a person. like, it wouldn't even occur to you to misgender a cisgender person for being horrible. because in the case of cisgender people, you intuitively understand that using someone's actual correct name and pronouns is just a morally neutral act that we do in a society. that's why i dont trust people who misgender bad people — not because i care about who they're misgendering, but because it instantly tells me they believe the gender identity of trans ppl is inherently inferior/less correct than cis ppl

Tumblr is so funny because you can make a post like "hey do not mix bleach and vinegar in your cleaning, you'll make chlorine gas and you do not want to make chlorine gas. It is dangerous to mix these two specific chemicals together", and the comments are like
"Um vinegar isn't dangerous?? My mom cleans things with vinegar all the time and we have never had lung issues. White people are insane." (<- does not use bleach, missing the point)
"OH MY GOD BLEACH IS CHLORINE GAS? NOBODY EVER TOLD ME I'VE BEEN CLEANING WITH BLEACH MY WHOLE LIFE, I WILL DIE." (<- has literally never used vinegar in cleaning, and never mixed the two, missing the point)
