DO IT NERD. Icon by DAVESTRIDER123 ISN'T LANCE ADORABLE

So did ocarina of time Link ever get a sex and puberty talk before he was just zapped into being an adult or was he just left to ponder the testosterone puberty butt hair and where Hylian babies come from on his own

Sheik: The flow of time is never ending. I cannot tell you everything now.

Link: Can I ask one question though?

Sheik: Depends on what that question is.

Link: Where do Hylians plant their babies because I haven’t seen a nursery yet

Sheik: What?

Link: Kokiri are planted from seeds from the Deku tree. I haven’t seen any Hylians coming out of seeds?

Sheik: Oh little buddy you might wanna sit down for this one

Zelda: I was Sheik this entire time

Link: …

Zelda: We don’t have to talk about…

Link: You told me you didn’t know what boobs look like, you liar!

Ganondorf: Am I interrupting something here?

Link: No, get her out of the crystal! She knows where the hair is coming from!

Ganondorf: *remembering going through puberty in a tribe of all women*

Ganondorf: You know if I wasn’t so evil I’d have pity on you but I’m just gonna take this with me. *Carries off the crystal with Zelda in it*

Link: Noooo! I don’t know how to clean it! How do you clean it??? There’s so much sweat now!

Zelda: I think I must undo my mistakes. I’m going to send you back to your childhood time to undo all of this.

Link: But… I just learned how to use deodorant. And I beat up the giant pig guy.

Zelda: And I’m very proud of you but you need to go through puberty gradually. This whole thing has been a train wreck for your development. Goodbye.

Link: *zapped back* Aw, man. I never even had time to [REDACTED]

Young Zelda: Thank you for warning us. Will you take the ocarina of time far away for us so it can’t be used?

Link: Of course, your highness. And it will give me the opportunity to go look for my friend Navi.

Young Zelda: Can I ask a silly question?

Link: *nods*

Young Zelda: While you were an adult, did they ever tell you where babies come from? Impa keeps telling me that only adults get to know about that.

Link: *looks left and then right and then whispers something into her ear*

Young Zelda: Really? That’s disgusting.

Link: *nods*

Hero of twilight: Woah who are you

Hero of time: I’m you but like from a past life

Twilight: Why are you here?

Time: To teach you sword techniques I never got to pass on. And by the way, you got to go through puberty at a normal pace, right? You got a sex talk, right?

Twilight: Yeah? Why wouldn’t I have gotten one? I’m like 18.

Time: Good. Because if they hadn’t let you have puberty the long way around I probably would’ve killed the goddesses myself. Anyways, here’s how to charge up your spin attack.

DP x Marvel

SHIELD knows about Phantom but they give him a low level threat classification because they think he can't leave his haunt.

This impression stems from a few curious Avengers coming to meet Danny and insinuating that he'd be a good addition to the team. Danny is thrilled at the idea but then thinks about how much Amity would suffer without him and has to reject their (unofficial) offer. He says

"That sounds amazing, but as much as I'd like to, I can't leave my haunt."

What he means is "can't leave my haunt unprotected" but his denial gets interpreted literally. As in Phantom physically cannot leave his "haunt". Maybe he even escorts them to the edge of town and is like "Well, this is as far as I can go, but it was nice to meet you all. Stay safe and keep protecting the rest of the world :)" that of course being as far as he can go and still get back in time for his next class.

Oh I love this.

- - -

Everything was falling apart.

Nick Fury was missing, half the team was gone, half the world was gone.

They failed. The Avengers had failed.

It was just like Tony had dreamed about, over and over, watching his friends and family be torn apart while he could only watch from the stiff prison of his cursed suit.

Barely a day passed after their failure, the team in shambles, their hope lost, when Phantom tracked them down and blasted into the building they were staying at.

Tony’s head shot up in surprise, he forgot about the young hero, especially since he was mainly defending his small town, his small town he wasn’t supposed to be able to leave.

Where is everyone?!”

Phantom had a variety of emotions on his face, anger, confusion, fear. He looked like a wreck.

His eyes were red and puffy, his hair more disheveled than Tony had ever seen it, and his body did seem to stop shaking. His voice dropping from a eardrum shattering screech to a small whisper.

Where did my friends go? Where did my family go? Why can’t I find Jazz? Or Sam and Tucker? Not even my mom and dad! I can’t find anyone! It like- like half my town disappeared!” His expression darkened, his fists clenching before turning his gaze on Tony, “I know it wasn’t the ghosts. They all admit they have no idea what happened! So it leaves you. What in all the Ancients of the Infinite Realms happened?!”

Tony’s eyes dropped to his feet. He failed Phantom too. He failed the Spiderling, now this kid, he probably failed millions of kids. Thor barely managed to let out a broken whisper of how he ‘didn’t go for the head’. Natasha was the one to step forward and speak up, “Thanos happened.”

Phantoms gaze snapped to her, and all the remaining Avengers could feel the temperature of the room drop, “Thanos? Who or what is that?”

“The mad Titan, we were in a fight, to keep these powerful, reality altering stones known as the infinity stones away from him. We failed. He got the stones, forged them onto a gauntlet called the infinity gauntlet, they took out half the population of the universe with a snap in a mad delusion that it would make things better.”

Phantom’s glare didn’t waver, “how did he take out half the population? Kill them? There haven’t been any new ghosts.”

“No-, he erased them from existence.”

Green leaked from Phantom’s palms, and then they suddenly loosened as Phantoms gaze snapped up, “how many of these stones exist?”

Natasha shook her head sadly, guessing what he was thinking, “only 6 did, but Thanos destroyed them after using them so we couldn’t reverse his damage done.”

A grin split across Phantoms face, eerie, unnatural, and haunting. Tony could only blink in confusion, how was this good news?

Phantom turned to the rest of the team, “Where is this Thanos?” They all glanced to each other and shook their heads, remembering confronting the monster and Thor taking him out only to be left standing there and feeling even emptier than before.

Phantom hummed, as if the glances were enough of an answer, “give me a couple of days.”

And then he was gone.

Tony debated considering that a hallucination, a dream.

That was until Phantom reappeared three days later with a bronze gauntlet on his arm, 4 gemstones running up the arm and glowing even brighter than his unearthly glow.

“The hell is that?” Natasha was the first to ask.

Phantom smiled brightly, the brightest anyone had ever seen since the disaster, “what, ghosts can’t have their own universe altering artifacts? What exactly did Thanos alter? I can reverse it.”

Tony stared, “you… you aren’t serious, are you? That can’t possibly…”

“Dude, this is called called the Reality Gauntlet. I’m pretty sure it can reverse whatever Thanos did.”

Tony glanced at Thor in disbelief, “can something really be more powerful than those stones?”

Thor himself was almost left speechless, eyes focused on the gauntlet, “if it’s from the infinity realms, then yes. Anything from there makes the artifacts from our realm look like mere toys.”

“He erased half of the universe’s population,” Steve stated.

“And destroyed Vision,” Tony added with a solemn nod.

“And killed my brother with his bare hands,” Thor hissed between his teeth.

“And sacrificed Gamora for a stone,” Banner added.

Phantom nodded at all the additions, “now people who weren’t erased but instead were killed… I can try to bring back but there is no guarantee. This is a ghost artifact, which means that sometimes… that means the dead stay dead.” He was clear about the sacrifices, the losses.

“Wait, Phantom,” Tony suddenly spoke, catching the ghost child’s attention, “what will that thing do to you? The infinity gauntlet took Thanos’ arm from the extreme rewriting of the universe, what will it do to you?”

Phantom grinned back at him, “oh, nothing! I’m built different.”

Then he snapped his fingers.

Nothing happened at first.

Everyone was frozen in place, Tony was expecting the kid to crumple to the ground, to scream, to lose his arm like Thanos, but he seemed fine, carefully watching the group as they waited.

And then a phone went off. One on Phantom.

Phantom quickly dumped the gauntlet into some sort of instant green portal before he answered the phone, his face lighting up as he heard some sort of voice on the other end. Other phones were going off, the Avengers looking to each other in surprise, relief, and disbelief.

Phantom snapped his phone shut, “alright! That’s all fixed! Next time you go to war with reality altering villains, call me.”

And he was gone.

taking a forensics class and watching the professor explain one by one how criminal profiling, hair microscopy, and bite mark analysis are all pseudoscience responsible for ruining innocent lives, and how on top of that, fingerprint analysis, despite being significantly more reliable, is subjective and prone to contextual bias. and also bullet striation analysis has the same issues. and also bullet lead analysis doesn’t work. and also handwriting analysis has an error rate high enough to render it useless

damn i'm almost starting to think the entire criminal justice system only exists to provide the illusion of protection while justifying state violence idk

Here's an article on this stuff, and Here's a paper for the FREAKS out there who prefer published research.

Lilo & Stitch is a great example of a story that has no villains. It has antagonists, sure, but most of them are well-meaning. The worst person in the film is that little shit Myrtle, but she’s not in the film that much anyway.

Since this post is getting traction I want to clarify how not-villainous the antagonists are:

  • The Grand Councilwoman is literally just responding to what she sees as a threat to the galaxy and is extremely reasonable.
  • Gantu is much the same. He’s a bit overzealous, yes, but he thinks he’s saving the galaxy from stitch.
  • Cobra Bubbles is literally just doing his job, he’s obviously not happy about it but he is doing what he feels is best for Lilo. And much like the Councilwoman, he is extremely reasonable.
  • Myrtle is, again, just a little shit. She’s a schoolyard bully and is truly small potatoes.
  • Jumba calls himself an “evil scientist,” but literally nothing supports that. His only onscreen crime is creating a bunch of Pokémon that have powers that will mildly inconvenience people and can be persuaded to be nice over the course of 22 - 90 minutes, to say nothing of himself seeing as he decides to change his ways at the softest bit of persuasion.
  • Pleakley is literally just gay.

URGENT: 🚨🚨EARN IT ACT IS BACK IN THE SENATE 🚨🚨 tumblr's nsfw ban hitting the entire internet this spring 2022

February 1, 2022

I’m so so sorry for the long post but please please please pay attention and spread this

WHAT IS THE EARN IT ACT?

The EARN IT Act has been roundly condemned by nearly every major LGBTQ+ advocacy and human rights organization in the country. This is a bill that will make children less safe, undermine online safety and security, and trample free expression, because it carves out another exception to Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (CDA 230), which the ACLU describes as “foundational to modern online communications.” This has been the law that has let the internet grow into what it is today, we’ve had this law since the 90s. (For context, Trump wanted to get rid of this law because he knew it would lead to mass govt surveillance and censorship of minorities online.)

The EARN IT Act will lead to online censorship. Platforms will be incentivized to scan their users’ communications and censor all sex-related content, including sex education, literally anything lgbt, transgender or non-binary education and support systems, and sex worker communication according to the ACLU. All this in the name of “protecting kids” and “fighting CSEM”, both of which the bill does nothing of the sort. In fact it makes fighting CSEM even harder.

If this bill passes, we're going to see most, if not all, adult content and accounts removed from mainstream platforms, for fear of the liability that could come with ever accidentally hosting CSAM, as well as the erasure of end-to-end encryption on messaging platforms.

This is really not a drill. Anyone who makes or consume anything “adult” online has to be prepared to fight Sen. Blumenthal's EARN IT Act, brought back from the grave by a bipartisan consensus to destroy Section 230.

EARN IT will open the way for politicians to define the category of “pornography" as they — or the lobbies that fund them — please, (Right now, right wing organizers are catgorizing books about racism as ‘porn’ to ban them from schools) which is a cherished goal of organizations that seek to reintroduce obscenity prosecutions for content now protected by Free Speech jurisprudence. This will 1000000% be used to eradicate anything LGBT online.

What this bill says it does on the surface is make platforms liable for their users’ activity if that activity involves sex and minors. However, because of 230, platforms are not liable at all about their users' activity. This has allowed platforms to grow and thrive and many niches online to as well. The bill also creates an unelected commission to create “best practices” to combat online child sexual exploitation. While these recommendations are nominally voluntary (so Americans have no decision on who gets to be on it), platforms that refuse to comply will be liable for criminal prosecutions and lawsuits should the government decide any of their users is engaging in online child sexual exploitation.

This is already a nightmare enough. But the bill also DESTROYS ENCRYPTION, you know, the thing protecting literally anyone or any govt entity from going into your private messages and emails and anything on your devices and spying on you.

This bill is going to finish what FOSTA/SESTA started. And that should terrify you.

Senator Blumenthal (Same guy who said ‘Facebook should ban finsta’) pushed this bill all of 2020, literally every activist (There were more than half a million signatures on this site opposing this act!) pushed hard to stop this bill. Now he brings it back, doesn’t show the text of the bill until hours later, and it’s WORSE. Instead of fixing literally anything in the bill that might actually protect kids online, Bluemnthal is hoping to fast track this and shove it through, hoping to get little media attention other than propaganda of "protecting kids" to support this shitty legislation that will harm kids.

The entire EARN IT act is based on *multiple* misunderstandings of the law and reality. It's a really really really bad policy that will do serious harm. But because Senator Blumenthal wants headlines, he'll pretend that it "helps protect the children." It won't. It'll do real damage. It will make CSEM much much worse.

One of the many reasons this bill is so dangerous: It totally misunderstands how Section 230 works, and in doing so (as with FOSTA) it is likely to make the very real problem of CSAM worse, not better. Section 230 gives companies the flexibility to try different approaches to dealing with various content moderation challenges. It allows for greater and greater experimentation and adjustments as they learn what works -- without fear of liability for any "failure." Removing Section 230 protections does the opposite. It says if you do anything, you may face crippling legal liability. This actually makes companies less willing to do anything that involves trying to seek out, take down, and report CSAM because of the greatly increased liability that comes with admitting that there is CSAM on your platform to search for and deal with. This liability would allow anyone for any reason to sue any platform they want, suing smaller ones out of existence. Look at what is happening right now with book bans across the nation with far right groups. This is going to happen to the internet if this bill passes.

(Remember, the state department released a report in December 2021 recommending that the government crack down on "obscenity" as hard the Reagan Administration did. If this bill passes, it could easily go way beyond shit red states are currently trying. It is a goldmine for the fascist right that is currently in the middle of banning every book that talks about race and sexuality across the US.)

NCOSE, the far right anti-LGBT hate group behind the global anti-sex legislations, is pushing the idea that any form of sexual expression, including talking about HEALTH, leads to sex trafficking. Their goal is to eliminate all sex, anything gay, and everything that goes against their idea of ‘God’ from the internet and hyper disney-fy and sanitize it. This is a highly coordinated attack on multiple fronts.

The reason these bills keep showing up is because there is this false lie spread by organizations like NCOSE that platforms do nothing about CSEM online. However, platforms are already liable for child sexual exploitation under federal law. Tech companies sent more than 45 million+ instances of CSAM to the DOJ in 2019 alone, most of which they declined to investigate. This shows that platforms are actually doing everything in their power already to stop CSEM by following already existing laws. The Earn It Act includes zero resources for proven investigation or prevention programs. If Senator Bluementhal actually cared about protecting youth, why wouldn’t he include anything to actually protect them in his shitty horrible bill?

The Center for Democracy & Technology (CDT) along with a coalition of 26 civil society organizations urged the United States Senate to reject the EARN IT Act. Groups on the left and right, including the ACLU, Fight for the Future, EFF, and Hacking // Hustling oppose it. Because it threatens free expression online and will threaten marginalized people’s safety while being totally unnecessary and failing to fix the problem it claims to address. The EARN IT Act empowers states to give law enforcement access to users’ private conversations and force companies to create encryption backdoors for law enforcement. This is totally unnecessary. Platforms are already handing over CSAM to the federal government. It’s actually likely to make prosecuting child molesters more difficult since evidence collected this way likely violates the Fourth Amendment and would be inadmissible in court.

I don't know why so many Senators are eager to cosponsor the "make child pornography worse" bill, but here we are.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

EARN IT Act was introduced yesterday! And it’s already scheduled to get marked up, which is the first step post-introduction. Most bills never go to markup, so this means they are putting pressure to move this through. IF YOU LIVE IN THESE STATES (IL, VT, CA, RI, MN, DE, CT, HI, NJ, and GA), CONTACT YOUR SENATOR AND HOUSE MEMBERS NOW. THIS IS URGENT. This is who gets first crack, and folks in all have Senators who are on the Judiciary committee.

I'm guessing this month or March is when the bill would be passed if there is no opposition 😭 The bill was re-introduced yesterday, already set for markup this Thursday. This feels like an attempt to fast track it this month. Additionally the current makeup of Congress favors those who want it passed. Back in 2020 it was mostly Senate republicans and democrats who are basically republicans (just like now, check the sponsors) pushing it with Ron Wyden using the filibuster to stop their efforts. The house dems didn't want to give Trump a win and needed to appear as pro-privacy/free speech for the 2020 election. Now the dems have the presidency, both chambers of Congress and if you've noticed have spent a few years repeatedly demanding social media censorship and desperately want to give Biden victories. biden isn't like obama who opposed sopa/pipa to appeal to younger voters. This is similar to how FOSTA passed with the group who made it happen last time back again. Far as I'm aware Wyden hasn't spoken about new earn it yet but even if he does oppose it, it's very possible there will be enough Senate democrats to join the republicans in passing it beating a filibuster. Then pelosi's band of house idiots pass it and we have to choose between breaking the law because they can't stop us from using encryption or being obedient sheep to a group who consider themselves above laws.

It already has a fifth of the Senate cosponsoring it. There is a very very very real chance this bill becomes law. This is an uphill battle that's going to happen fast and quick. PLEASE, FIGHT NOW.

202-224-3121 connects you to the congressional hotline.

This website takes you to your Senator / House members contact info. EMAIL, MESSAGE, SEND LETTERS, CALL CALL CALL CALL CALL. Calling is the BEST way to get a message through. Get your family and friends to send calls too. This is literally the end of free speech online.

More sources to read about this bill:

https://surviveearnit.com/what-is-the-earn-it-act/ From 2020, but little has changed about the bill.

TLDR: The EARN IT Act will lead to online censorship of any and all adult & lgbt content across the entire internet, open the floodgates to mass surveillance the likes which we haven't seen before, lead to much more CSEM being distributed online, and destroy encryption. Call 202-224-3121 to connect to your house and senate representative and tell them to VOTE NO on this bill that does not protect anyone and harms everyone.

i called both my senators and i hope you do as well

I fucking know it's a word wall, but it's fucking VITAL to keep this from being passed. I can't do much across the pond in scotland, but if any american can help, PLEASE DO. This will affect american-based companies AND companies working on american internet. This is one of the utterly cataclysmic steps to a fash-ified, overly sanitized internet that not even the REPUBLICANS would want. Shut the bill while you can, please.

Rebloggin to both add the EFF’s take on it, which makes me even more terrified of this awful bill, and add one additional wrinkle.

There was this post circulating around Tumblr a while back talking about how “useless” it is to try and call your senators. But, while it’s less effective than most of us would like and you should do other methods if you can, the main wrinkle to people pushing back against that is that it does matter if a bunch of constituents are complaining about the same issue in aggregate, notifying that it’s a widely held sentiment.

So, in other words, we need as many people doing this as possible to make this a wave. If we get this bill dead via our input, every single voice will have counted in the end...

I will also add this article on why the EARN IT Act is so much worse than the already godawful FOSTA-SESTA, and also to Mozilla and the EFF’s own campaigns to kill this bill.

Remember, every little bit helps!

I think I already reblogged this but im gonna do it again because this is a good reminder on how toxic gatekeeping it.

I’m reblogging this for the amount of thought that was put into figuring out the necessary configuration for a mertaur wheelchair.

MMMMM, the LAYERS to this.

She’s technically a monster too. She might not look it at first glance and seems mostly human, but it isn’t deniable even despite her looks compared to the other monsters.

But she realizes that she is still not like the rest of the monsters either and may not have entirely the same experiences as them, which is why she feels that she might not belong to or deserve to go to the support group. By sometimes passing as human, she feels she isn’t worthy of the space.

The sad reality though is even though she’s mostly human in appearance, that tail she has undeniably would still cause her some struggle. Humans are still gonna look at that tail and think she’s a freak. There are probably still accommodations she needs because of the tail that she may still struggle to have access to. Even if it is just the tail, that tail is still enough to other her from humans and cause her problems and discrimination.

She should get to belong in that support group even if she gets told she’s not monster “enough”. She still shares some of the same struggles as them that are caused by being a monster, and needs support.

This is an excellent demonstration of the flaws in the concept of passing privilege. Bravo to the artist.

NOW I will reblog this.

Image description: A comic in seven panels

Panel 1: A wolf man wearing a pale blue polo shirt and dark blue pants faces the viewer. He is saying, “Uh… I’m sorry ma’am, but this is a support group for monsters only.” With his right hand, he gestures to a group of monsters sitting around a table in the background. The monsters are a giant bat, a gorilla, and a dragon. They are facing away from the viewer.

Panel 2: A white woman with blonde hair wearing a pink striped shirt and dark capri pants says with a smile, “Well, actually, I AM a monster.” The wolf man replies, looking skeptically, “… How?”

Panel 3: The woman responds, while looking at the viewer, “Well, you see, my mother was a mermaid and my father was a minotaur.” Above her head, there is a thought cloud depicting a mermaid in a tank holding hands and looking lovingly at a Minotaur who is standing outside of the tank.

Panel 4: The wolf man, still looking dismissive, says, “Riiight. And let me guess: You got the human half from both of them.” The woman responds, “Exactly!” The wolf man says, “Gotcha. Hardy har har.”

Panel 5: The wolf man points and makes a snarling face at the woman, saying, “Ya know, it’s insensitive mockery like this that makes us need these groups in the first place.” The woman holds up her hands defensively, leaning away and looking surprised. She says, “Huh?”

Panel 6: The woman says, “Listen sir, I’m just here to drop off my brother and I’ll be on my way.” She still has a worried expression and gestures to her brother behind her. Her brother has a Minotaur upper half and a fish lower half. He is riding a mobility device. He says, “This guy buggin’ you sis?” while raising an eyebrow.” The wolf man looks astonished.

Panel 7: The woman is shown walking off-panel to the left. She says over her shoulder, “I’ll be back to pick you up at seven.” Since her back is to the viewer, we can now see that she has a tail. Her brother says, “Sounds good, thanks.” The wolf man continues to look astonished.”

This is how I feel as a dynamically disabled person.

Honestly Minecraft is so eerie because of that loneliness. I have always seen the “story” of Minecraft as Steve’s fruitless search for other survivors, wandering the landscape, following maps and unearthing ruins and hoping to signal to someone else—anyone else—that he is here, that he’s alive.

For example, the Beacon has obvious utility for the player, but in the story, it seems much more like it would be built as a signal to others.

It is made more eerie by the fact that the creatures he encounters are misshapen mirrors of a human form. The villagers are clearly evolved either from humans or a human-like ancestor, but are not themselves human. Drowned and Zombies perhaps were once human, but unlike zombie villagers, it seems that they cannot be cured. (Maybe he will find a way. Maybe, maybe.)

The Endermen are peaceful when respected, if unnerving. They used to frighten him, but he has been alone for so long; the empty horizon that once held hope has become so unwelcoming that the garbled syllables of these flitting black figures are almost a comfort. He talks back to them, seeing patterns in the handful of noises they repeat that aren’t there.

He has followed the clues left in the ruins, piecing together doors to the hellish, inhospitable realms the previous inhabitants of this world must have tried to escape to, and encountered incomprehensible beings. He has discovered weapons and ancient texts imbued with magic and learned to replicate it.

It has been so long. He has traveled so far, from the harsh, unforgiving lands of the desert, over mountains and into sticky jungles, and there is never a new clue, a new signal, something, anything left that might indicate that there are survivors.

So what would he think, if he saw someone appear, standing in the doorway of the fortress he has built over the years, someone human? Someone else, after so long spent searching? After so long spent knowing, deep, deep down, that there is no one else left?

What is more likely? That he would think this is a surviving human, incomprehensibly, after all this time?

Or that this is yet another being, in a world of magic and strange power, that once was human, or is trying to be human, or is not quite human, that is just

better than the others at pretending?
