After the ‘getting it running’ stuff that there are a billion tutorials for (4GB patch, NV tick fix, NV anti crash, etc), my personal recommendations would be Just Vanilla Sprint and LootMenu (changes inventory menus to be like FO4), just those two make the experience much smoother, while retaining the mostly vanilla feel you want on your first playthroughs

I've come out of hiding just to say. In a perfect world I would recommend New Vegas first to all the new fallout fans. But we also live in a world where without mods ( wich is how most people experience NV for the first time) it's kinda a bitch to play. Especially for a fist Bethesda game. Wich is why I'm begging people to stop saying not to bother with fo4.... it's by far the most accessible game gameplay wise....and though I agree it has one of the weaker stories. I wouldn't say it's bad at all. Just different from the other games.

Any must-have mods you would recommend?
I wish I could help with this but I ended up in the same boat. Gameplay is most often more important to me than story is. And when I played New Vegas I played it vanilla and ended up disliking most of it. I'm sure there are mods out there that fix many of these issues. But when a game needs mods just for it to be playable for me...I tend to not bother with it much. I ended up Watching playthoughs on YouTube to get the story.
All this being said if someone sees this and wants to recomend some mods please do so.

In skyrim there should be some random guy who’s just a normal follower but they say “by the 7” and never elaborate on which god he doesn’t believe in
I think he should also go “By Talos” just to establish that one of the 7 gods he believes in is the one there’s a big schism over and he’s just on some next level shit.

Gonna be honest, I think that might be a good thing.
Lyris is the only eso character I can think of who has actually looked better over time opposed to having sick concept art that just didn’t get used
Confession: I was TODAY years old when I realized the emperor in Arena, Daggerfall, and Morrowind was the same as in Oblivion. I guess I never paid much attention to the numerals. Uriel went through so much. It’s no wonder he was so chill about dying.
