How to complete your tasks if you can't do routines_? Pt. 1

Disclaimer - the information below provides my experience to help people who actually can't follow routines/

Throughout my whole life, I've been struggling with building routines and my school teachers often told me that I lack consistency and could achieve better results if I take my studies seriously. Yet, in reality, I couldn't be as consistent as many others and still can not stand routines as I quickly get bored, struggle with mental health problems and generally feel better with more spontaneous workflow. So here are my a bit odd tips on how to study if you can't do routines.

0/ Understand your goals and keep them realistic

write down things you working on this week/month/year. Keep the list short and realistic. Limiting the list to the bare minimum will reduce the anxiety and everything out of it will seem like overwork. Base it on your current interests/goals/study program etc. If you have too much in your head schedule some of your goals for the next month so you can have more noticeable progress.

1/ Avoid strict to-do lists

weekly to-do lists work better as you can reschedule some tasks if you don't feel like working on them today.

2/ Doing at least something is better than doing nothing at all

I suggest not to push yourself into 2+ hours study/working sessions every day if it doesn't work for you. Instead, try to start without setting any time gaps and see how it goes. Even something related to your goal is better than nothing. Yet, if you feel motivated enough maybe you will do even more than you planned. But don't forget to take breaks!

3/ Make your work more enjoyable

better plan 1-2 side tasks to switch between so you don't get bored or fixated. This works even better if the tasks are connected to each other.

If you are learning a language your side tasks can be listening to music and learning the lyrics, practising Duolingo/memrise, journaling, watching you-tube on your target lang etc.

4/ Motivate yourself

external motivation is usually short term but can be used to gain confidence and achieve quick goals. Usually, I scroll through my Pinterest feed to inspire myself with cool references which I can use in my project. Inspirational movies/shows/study blogs work as well. Find what works for you

I hope you find it helpful 👀

This makes me happy in ways I can’t completely describe.

There was a science fiction short story with that plot. Evil Aliens hit a spaceship full of humans with a paralysis ray before boarding. The ship's cat 1.) wasn't affected 2.) had been entered into the system as a crew member as a joke. So, being the ranking crew member, the cat was in charge. Ship's computer displayed the enemy ships on the tactical command touch screen and the cat swatted at the glowy dots, targeting the ships and activating the defenses.

how can you say this and not tell us the name of the story of the author because I AM DESPERATE NOW...

Everything about this post is causing me to make the same face as that cat.

I HAVE A BOOK THAT STORY IS IN!!!!! The story itself is titled “Well Worth the Money” and written by Jody Lynn Nye. The book I have is titled “Cats in Space (and Other Places)” edited by Bill Fawcett and published in 1992 by Baen Publishing Enterprises, distributed by Simon and Schuster. ISBN 0-671-72118-6. EVERY STORY IN THE BOOK IS GREAT, and I suggest if you can lay your hands on a copy you do so.

(Warning, the front cover says “In space, no one can hear you meow...” and the back cover says, “Space, the Feline Frontier.” Just in case you’re allergic to puns or something.)

I have a mighty need!!

When Brazilian graphic designer Carol Rossetti began posting colorful illustrations of women and their stories to Facebook, she had no idea how popular they would become.
Thousands of shares throughout the world later, the appeal of Rosetti’s work is clear. Much like the street art phenomenon Stop Telling Women To Smile, Rossetti’s empowering images are the kind you want to post on every street corner, as both a reminder and affirmation of women’s bodily autonomy.
“It has always bothered me, the world’s attempts to control women’s bodies, behavior and identities,” Rossetti told Mic via email. “It’s a kind of oppression so deeply entangled in our culture that most people don’t even see it’s there, and how cruel it can be.”
Rossetti’s illustrations touch upon an impressive range of intersectional topics, including LGBTQ identity, body image, ageism, racism, sexism and ableism. Some characters are based on the experiences of friends or her own life, while others draw inspiration from the stories many women have shared across the Internet.
“I see those situations I portray every day,” she wrote. “I lived some of them myself.”
Despite quickly garnering thousands of enthusiastic comments and shares on Facebook, the project started as something personal — so personal, in fact, that Rossetti is still figuring out what to call it. For now, the images reside in albums simply titled “WOMEN in english!“ or ”Mujeres en español!“ which is fitting: Rossetti’s illustrations encompass a vast set of experiences that together create a powerful picture of both women’s identity and oppression.
One of the most interesting aspects of the project is the way it has struck such a global chord. Rossetti originally wrote the text of the illustrations in Portuguese, and then worked with an Australian woman to translate them to English. A group of Israeli feminists also took it upon themselves to create versions of the illustrations in Hebrew. Now, more people have reached out to Rossetti through Facebook and offered to translate her work into even more languages. Next on the docket? Spanish, Russian, German and Lithuanian.
It’s an inspiring show of global solidarity, but the message of Rossetti’s art is clear in any language. Above all, her images celebrate being true to oneself, respecting others and questioning what society tells us is acceptable or beautiful.
“I can’t change the world by myself,” Rossetti said. “But I’d love to know that my work made people review their privileges and be more open to understanding and respecting one another.”

This is so beautiful.

Your partner really means “No”

Hi! I know I sound annoying but it would really help me a lot if you kindly help me spread my artworks by pressing the ‘Reblog’ button. I really want other people(non followers) to see and enjoy my artworks too :) Thank you for supporting me and my crazy artworks :3

This is glorious

this is fantastic and i need more of it in my life

Small children choosing to interact with you is the biggest compliment, like a random baby waving at you on the bus, a child asking you a question at a restaurant. That shit is immaculate.

One time at a museum, a four-year-old just handed me two dinosaurs, presumably for safekeeping, and wandered away. I was honored, but also... well shit I guess these dinosaurs are under my protection now??? What does one even do about that?

It is our duty as feminists to protect and respect women in Hijabs

Now. More. Than. Ever.

Question: if I see someone pull off a Hijab, what should I do? I know there are reasons they are worn so I want to if i should stand in between them and who did this, should i protect them from view somehow, or something else? This has been happening a lot so I feel it’s something everyone needs to know.

Good question! I cannot correctly and effectively answer, as I am a white, non-Muslim person; however, I will reblog in case any of my followers can answer.

I asked my Hijabi friend, so here’s one Hijabi’s answer:

“my opinion is, definitely try cover them or give them something to cover themselves with. And perhaps shoo off the person, without putting oneself in danger! God forbid, if that happened to me, I would like someone to come and comfort me and give me something to cover my hair with and then help me report it to the cops “

(Followers, if any of you are hijabi and would like to expand on this answer or offer alternatives, please do.)

If u see it happen to 1 of us, pls cover our head + hair with a coat or shawl or any piece of cloth, while hugging us in comfort. Please don’t get hurt by lashing out @ the perpetrators in any way, coz if they dare to do that, they’re probably too far gone in their own hatred to listen to any reason. Much love + Thank You to anyone who supports us.

yes !! everything said here is important af. if you see someone pull off a girl’s hijab immediately cover her hair and provide comfort. don’t talk to the perpetrator but try to get the woman out of there if you can. maybe if you have a scarf on you at the time give it to her so she can wear it until she’s alone and can replace her hijab. please please protect muslim girls because we already had it hard before donald trump became president and now its gonna be worse with people going around thinking their violence and cruelty is justified

for my other white ppl who might have a hard time, it’s my understanding that a hijab is like a major item of clothing, not an accessory like a hat or a scarf. so think abt it more like if someone just ripped someone’s shirt or skirt off. u don’t want to be left there exposed or have to walk home without it.

everyone, even outside America needs to protect our Muslim sisters in these times.

as a man, what would be the best thing to do? should i turn my head and avoid looking at their hair? can i still offer a jacket or something similar?

^I’m hoping someone has an answer islamaphpbia is on the rise in my town and I want to be a good male non Muslim ally

For men, yes please, we would prefer it if you avoided looking at our hair, and if we don’t have something to substitute as a hijab at that moment, anything you could lend us, a jacket, etc, would be very appreciated.

Also, since most girls avoid physical contact with men they’re not related to, please do not hug them, but rather shoo the offender away if you can, or at least escort the girl to a safe place. You can still offer words of encouragement and support. Furthermore, understand that the victim may not be very welcoming towards you because she’ll obviously be shaken, and won’t know where you are coming from. If that’s the case, please still give her something to cover herself (hijab is very important, think of it as someone ripping your shirt off) and stand some distance away until you are sure she’s in safe hands.

Thank you so much for your support, we really appreciate it, god bless all of you.

In the horrible climate we’re currently in, please take note of this.

Reblogging this again for the guy-instructions

There’s many reason why I always have a flannel on me, and this is one of them.

Just the other day I gave it to a kind hijabi girl at a cafe because some asshole reached across the counter and ripped her hijab off, saying that she’s now “free” from it
