Depression

Life had gotten her under Life had dragged her below It was keeping her captive Breaking her heart Suffocating, stealing her air She was drowning She is lost The path keeps changing The dead ends keep appearing She feels the pressure She feels the stares Of the people around her Their opinions Their judgment She is chained In the depths of this darkness She can’t get her breath She sits there, quiet Putting on a facade If she shows what she feels It will only get worse And this struggle around her This swirling, angry darkness around her Will amplify Will find life Will become harsh She sits there, quiet Enduring the confusion around her Enduring the anger within her Enduring the despair she feels Ignoring it all just enough So that it doesn’t overwhelm her Internally she screams She screams and breaks Her heart is being torn Her mind is only chaos No one understands No one feels what she can’t live with So outside of herself She sits there, quiet Putting on a facade If she shows what she feels It will only get worse The love that keeps her going Is the one thing holding her together This love It stitches the tears of her heart With each new one that appears This love It tenderly holds her heart Protecting it from herself This love This is what keeps her sane This is what helps her each day This is what gives her strength But each day She can’t She just can’t She feels herself breaking A little more everyday Her screams either intensify Or slowly fade Which is worse She wonders Which is worse She can’t do this She hears the laughter around her And it fuels her anger How can people laugh She can’t even smile No one understands No one feels what she can’t live with So outside of herself She sits there, quiet Putting on a facade If she shows what she feels It will only get worse So with another day to struggle with Comes another day to silently cry Comes another day to internally scream And comes another To sit there, quiet Put on a facade To not show what she feels To drown in the darkness Drifting farther and farther From shore From the love that holds her The only person that will listen But even he can’t understand The way her mind screams Each day, though sometimes quiet It screams And she fights it with silence She hides what she feels She cannot show her thoughts She can’t She just can’t No one understands No one feels what she can’t live with So outside of herself She sits there, quiet Putting on a facade If she shows what she feels It will only get worse She is trapped within herself.

There is a war inside her She physically feels it There is a war around her The struggle surrounds her The pain only ampliphies Until it is numbed She cannot explain The chaos inside her The way everything hurts The way everything hurts Its all a mess Her life is a mess And she cannot explain For no one understands.
