I do.
Pengy had to laugh as he walked by the mirror and took a glance at himself. He looked like one of those mummy monsters from the scary stories that were told around fires. But after his laugh he smiles, he was safe for now. Having brought back Ash with him, they both made it to the back lines. His smile quickly faded, the thought of all those lost in the fields filling his vision. He couldn't save them all, he could barely save one. Pengy walked down the hall, looking for the room his friend was in. "There was a cat I brought back with me, where is she?" He has stopped a nurse bunny to ask. Still holding her clipboard she had shown him the room and walked off to attend the others that were there. "Hey, how you feelin?" Pengy asked as he knocked on the open door, poking his head in to see the cat laying down under a blanket. "Like a wagon his me..." Ash replied trying to smile a little. She was pretty banged up. She looked different out of her fire starter robes. Pengy had been right, the robes had hid a lot of her wounds and she was lucky to still be around. "But I still work! Look!" Ash reached out and snapped her paw, a spark lit up and a tongue of flame flickered over her finger. Pengy smiles down at her. "Yes, yes you do still work. I'm proud of you." He reached down and rustled her fur. She might have only been a little younger then him, but she was just a big kid when it came down to it. This war would take a heavy toll on her and he wished he could protect her from all of it. "Don't exert yourself, you need rest if we are going to go back out on the front." With a nod she let the flame disappear. She looked up at him, thinking to her self how he had looked after her and been around for such a long time now. "This kitten will get a nap in now?" "Yes of course, you take a nap now. You have earned it and then some." Pengy pulled the blanket up on her and smiled. She was a big kid, but she was still a soldier and needed her rest no matter how much energy she seemed to have. Pengy was stepping out of the room and about to close the door as he heard the small voice. "Pengy...do you think will we win?" Ash trying to sound strong but the fear was hanging on every word. He stood in the door from, holding the door. He nodded, not even sure she could see him do it as he closed the door slowly. "I do.." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -----------4 years ago------------ Pengy held on to Penny happily. It was a hard being away from her but they had made it through and now they were together again. Both of them extremely happy to see each other. "Did you miss me?" She knew the answer just as he knew the answer. But it was confirmation that she wanted. Just hearing it so any doubt, no matter how small, would be brushed aside. She looked at him, waiting for the answer to her question. "I felt like no matter how many breaths I took, I'd never feel like I was breathing until I saw you again" Pengy answered as he gave the small bunny a shower of kisses. "A simple yes would have been fine silly." Penny said as she blushed and kisses back happily. Knowing that she missed him just as much. They had wrote letters of course, trying to make the distance seem smaller. The time go by faster. The hurt and loneliness seem less harsh. But it was all for the best. They made it through and now they had each other back. "Everything is almost ready. I'm getting nervous." The bunny girl smiles and looked down. "Nervous as in you don't want to anymore or.." Pengy started to ask, but was quickly silenced by a kiss from the bunny. "Don't be ridiculous. I'm just nervous because it's a big day coming up!" She exclaimed excitedly. She was right though, it was a big day coming up. They had talked about it through their letters. Being apart was hard and not something they wanted to experience again. So the decision wasn't that hard to come to, they would get married and be together forever. The letter had been the hardest to write in his life. The ink being drawn across the paper. The worlds forming slowly. He has asked her very simply 'Penny do you want to marry me?' He was prepared to fight anything the black army could throw at him, but writing out a letter to this bunny girl was scaring him. Sending it was the second scariest thing he did. What if she said no? What if she thought he was a crazy penguin? He waited for days on end. Training hard and preparing for the worst. The letter had come and as he held Penny in his arms he could remember exactly what it said. It was mostly blank, with the only writing in the middle of the paper. "I do." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
