hollow knight is 50% off on steam right now. about $7.50 USD. for seven dollars you can irreversibly rewire your brain to have hollow knight disease, which is where instead of a brain there is hollow knight

Can recommend! Get infected idiots

You know, it's very funny that the right-wing had a fat bug up its ass about "virtue signalling" when they can't stop doing shit like this

It's like: yes, thank you. you have expensive kit and an agreeable muscle-to-fat ratio and you have the same opinion most other people have. thank you for signalling your virtue to us. We know that you are a good american boy. Liked shared and subscribed.

You have signaled your virtues and the signal has been received loud and clear, thank you. You really want us to know you're ready to hurt bad people.

except. I gotta say.

why did you go to all that effort only to wear these fuckin little boy shoes

Magpul PMAG is about 2.5" across. Measuring the pixel count in this, front to back on the showing side of the pmag is about 32 pixels. That means each inch is 12.8 pixels. Measuring from between his feet to the point in the helmet where his head would stop, using the position of his night vision as a reference, this man's height is 849 pixels. Divide 849 by 12.8 and you get 66.32". This man is Five feet, Six inches tall.

i tried to make a transparent version of that sweet bro and hella jeff gif and ended up with this abomination

sorry worthi but this is way better

shoot

don’t let birding become a wealthy people thing. you don’t need to complete a list of 500+ birds, you don’t need to travel around the world, you don’t need to have seen a species only seen by a handful of people in the wild. it’s OK to just watch the birds in your area, with or without binoculars; gatekeeping birdwatching is ridiculous and i hate to see it

today i watched some roadrunners at the game store :)

you are winning birding 👍

a cockatoo i saw in a tree

Literally some of the best birding I've ever done is just hanging out looking at geese, goslings and sandpipers behind a Costco, next to some busy roads. It was so much fun because they were an oasis away from the crowded store and the boring errands I was running. My partner was with me, so I got to share the joy of seeing these cool animals with him, which is even better!

The joy of birding is that birds are everywhere! You can enjoy them anywhere you happen to be and it doesn't have to cost you anything! They're just little guys who pop up in your life and all it takes to "bird" is looking at them and appreciating that they're there. :)

Amazing how every guide on interacting with police, including ones that are explicitly pro-cop, are indistinguishable from guides on how to avoid being attacked by a wild animal.

Don’t make any sudden movements, avoid eye contact, stay calm or you WILL die. Wait, what do you mean this is advice for interacting with a human being and not a hungry bear?

“Keep your hands on the steering wheel and don’t have anything in them, a police officer might mistake a cellphone for a weapon.” Okay, should I also hold my hand out for him to sniff when he approaches so that he knows I’m not a threat?

Solidarity with children is often neglected or even made a joke of, so I wanna take a second and tell y'all what I wish I could go back in time and tell myself:

You're right. School is bullshit, homework is bullshit, waking up early is bullshit, going to bed early is bullshit. Some adults are just pointlessly cruel, even those in positions of authority over you. Sometimes adults are wrong, and, in fact, sometimes you are right

You were born with an innate sense of justice and fairness and adults have spent your entire life trying to beat it out of you so you'll shut up and do what you're told in an unjust and unfair society. Don't let them. Many of us have to take effort to relearn the wisdom you have right now, the ability to tell when something is bullshit even if you can't articulate why yet

You deserve happiness, fulfillment, and liberation just as much as any adult. Those first 18 years are just as important as any other time in your life, and it's time you'll never get back. Don't let anyone take them from you just because you're too young to fight back

Question everything, and never take "that's just the way it is" as an answer. Sometimes when things don't make sense to you it's because they just don't make any goddamn sense

Pick your battles, and be strategic. Don't take this post as permission to go starting fights for no reason. But remember that you have worth, and our society tends to not respect that. And you're right: that is bullshit

“The average US president has been charged with 1.54 felonies” factoid isn’t true. The average US President has been charged with 0 felonies. Donald trump, who has been charged with 71, is a statistical outlier and should not have been counted

As a nonbinary person it feels uncomfortable when strangers perceive my partner and I as a straight couple,

But it's hilarious to me when they perceive us as father and son.

"Does he have his own luggage?" the agent behind the check-in desk asks brightly, making eye contact with my partner.

"Just carry-on," I say as I slide my driver's license across the counter toward her. Confusion dawns on her face. She glances up at me briefly before printing my boarding pass in silence.

"A soap making booth!" I exclaim. I've been to the renaissance faire a dozen times but I've never visited this shop. "Let's make soap!"

"First you have to ask your Responsible Adult for five dollars," says the vendor in a measured, singsong voice, and wags her index finger at me.

I look around, confused. Who is she talking about? Does she mean the young man trailing behind me? I turn back to her.

"I have five dollars ..."

"Well you still have to ask him," she smiles sweetly.

As I open my mouth to ask why, I suddenly realize she has misjudged my age by at least two decades.

"I'm older than he is," is all I can think of to say.

"Would you like a children's menu?"

Spirit: Stallion of The Cimarron & the Indian Boarding Schools/Residential Schools allegory

Holy shit!

Was this intentional?

Avatar

Considering the rest of the film’s heavy anti-colonization messaging, the main antagonist being heavily modeled on & inspired by General Custer, the other main (human) protagonist being a Native man (& the fort is where Spirit meets Little Creek), yes, most likely

YES. It was 100% intentional. I highly recommend reading up on the making of this film. There was an incredible amount of care that went into the development.

They had Lakota consultants for the project, especially regarding the use of the Lakota language in the film (which is used sparsely, but when used is accurate).

It’s par for the course now to consult people belonging to a culture for projects representing it these days (i.e. Moana, Frozen 2, etc.) but it certainly wasn’t when Spirit came out in 2002.

This film is allegorical to its core.

A person I know decided to push really hard for “no hitting the kids, at all”, and his wife agreed, although she’d been raised with Some Hitting and thought it was normal. And then she discovered that her child wasn’t afraid of her at all, and she could pull a hand back and the child would just giggle because that wasn’t a threat, and she suddenly realized that actually it had fucked her up so deeply that she couldn’t even see it.

Anyway, good job parenting.
