I don’t know if people realize how much activism these women did for gay right and during the aids crisis. If you think about it they were all long established in Hollywood and Broadway. They had tons of friends personally affected and dealing with the aids crisis. Estelle Getty lost a nephew. I think they helped plant seeds in people who watched Golden Girls that helped make things a little more normalized and mainstream.

Okay so the absolute uncanniness of this video instilled such a terror in me no piece of horror media has ever done before to the point where by the end of it I genuinely thought I might throw up, and the lack of context really made it extra terrifying because in my shock I really couldn’t tell if the footage was real or not (the candid amateur-esque shooting is impeccable)

So I went ahead and dug up some information and this is actually a complication of clips from of a short (like 6 minute) film called The Centrifuge Brain Project that’s actually quite a humourous piece of surreal horror(??? I’m not sure what to call it really) in the form of a mockumentary. I highly recommend it.

Real answer: because Robert Rodriguez’s experience working with Tarantino lead to him developing a way to make movies with essentially no budget AND made him a lot of friends in Hollywood, plus he was making these movies specifically for his kids and had such an infectious energy about it, he was a joy to work with and those big-name actors did it almost for free.

None of us volunteered for this group project, we all have different ideas for how to do it, and at any given time one of us is either lying on the floor and refusing to participate or just having a screaming meltdown. 

None of us know when or how we’re getting marked on this but none of us are optmistic about it.

So many of my family members are dealing with this. And they’ve found that the company has made opting out of auto pay damn near impossible. The place where it used to be on the site has changed, calling results in getting disconnected, when they finally found it on the site, it “times out” when they try to cancel….its just a fucking mess.

We got lucky. I’m like 80% sure we have a rate cap because I haven’t seen it spike and I’ve been watching it fairly closely. But I’ve got aunts, geandparents, friends who have had their entire paycheck taken for electric bills when they barely had power for 3 hours over the course of 5 days. Money they needed to replace food gone bad, to fix water damage, to make car repairs, all gone to a bill that shouldn’t even exist because they didn’t even have power for 3 days.

Friendly tip from a long-time bank employee…  If your money is on autopay directly from your account# or card, you can put a STOP PAYMENT on that shit!  But do it at least 3 days before it is due to be pulled from your account.  There may be a $20-30 fee for it, but that is much better than a power company trying to pull hundreds from your account and overdrafting you.

Also, if they already pulled a ridiculous amount of money from you… if you believe that the charges are for power that you did not use you likely can file a dispute with your bank.  If you lost power tell them about that and say that services were not received, or if there are sudden new previously not disclosed fees you can state that the price is different than disclosed. Those sorts of reasons should keep banking systems from messing with the account itself, as it would do for a fraud claim.  Filing a dispute against your power company might not get you your money back, but it MAY.  It may also allow the bank to waive a stop payment fee if you fear a second round of hiked rates.  Just ask the banker about that before filing the stop paymen as some systems will ONLY waive the fee if it’s done DURING the dispute process…. 

But!  You have to remember that the stop payment is there until YOU remove it.  While some banks may remove them after 6 months, or 1-5 years…. it will be your responsibility to remember to reestablish your payment relationship with the power company, and you’ll also then need to let your bank about it when you want to start allowing payments to process again so they can remove the block.

And for those worried that it might somehow look shady: No, the banker will NOT think you’re trying to pull a fast one.  The banker is 10000% likely to be on your side when you explain the situation and ask them questions. 

If this information helps even one person then I’ll consider it a wonderful use of my time to type it out and post it.   Y’all stay STRONG!!!

Quinton Flynn is a voice actor of considerable fame, and he has recently been outed as a sexual predator.

Who does he voice?

His most famous roles currently are Axel from Kingdom Hearts, Raiden from Metal Gear and Reno from Final Fantasy VII (not in the Remake though).

Other roles include Jhin from League of Legends, Silver from Sonic (for a while, has been replaced), Iruka from Naruto (replaced towards the end), Henry from No More Heroes, Kon from Bleach and I’m sure several other anime/video game characters you can google easily.

What happened?

Last year, an account was created on November 14th (pretty sure) called BewareQFlynn, which the owner (anonymous at the time) used to both tell her experience with him and compile others’. Her initial post, which gained a fair amount of traction, included a very sexually explicit audio he had sent her without prompting. She explained that they had been in a relationship previously, but it had ended months ago and she did not want to speak with him anymore, and had not been speaking with him when the audio was sent.

Through her and several other reports from different women, the page made it quite clear what his pattern was: he would start by leaving suggestive or appreciative comments on photos of young fans (usually cosplayers), typically in their 20s (for reference, QF is currently 56 years old). Then, he would eventually message them and they would talk regularly, becoming closer, until he confessed his feelings for them. Then, they would enter relationships which were depicted by him as commited and serious long term relationships, but would inevitably end in a few months. There is confirmation that he did this with several women at the same time, and the messages posted by the page display his manipulative behaviour in assuring each of those girls that he wanted to live with them and only them, bringing up topics such as kids and marriage, while dating other women who were also unaware of the situation and being lied to.

It gets worse though! Fans and staff alike have also reported to having creepy experiences with him at conventions, dating back as far as the 2000s. One girl posted a video of her in line for a meet and greet with him, in which he unexpectedly pulls her in for a kiss on the lips. She was 17 at the time (he was 40 something). An Aqua cosplayer also reported that he licked her thigh without permission. She posted a picture of him right in the middle of the act. Several fans (including teens) have told stories of him inviting them to his room, and con staff have backed up that his behaviour has always been reprehensible. A few con staff described a situation in which he outright asked them for a prostitute and others have been requested to keep an eye on him before. Furthermore, the owner of BewareQFlynn and other people also stated that old forums had mention of his creepy con tendencies sometimes, but discussion tended to be shut down (often by or with the help of the man himself). BewareQFlynn also mentioned that she tried to raise awareness of this issue last year, but was promptly shut down by fans, and decided to try again now. Clearly this has been going on for several years, possibly for as long as he’s been in the industry (which is quite a while, he’s one of the older ones).

Also, this is not strictly relevant to this situation but I feel is also important to know and backed up by the Drive document. He is a big Trump supporter. His Twitter likes (currently invisible but screenshotted on the doc) are full of racist and transphobic tweets, and he follows (or followed) and regularly liked people such as Ben Shapiro and Trump himself. He also genuinely believes the insurrection was faked by Antifa. His far right beliefs have been questioned and brought up by fans occasionally for a long time now, but usually people pay no mind to it.

Wait, but why is this being brought to attention now of all times?

Today (February 3rd 2021), Quinton Flynn took his main accuser, the owner of BewareQFlynn, to court, saying that she had harassed him and his family and hacked his account, blatantly false statements that could easily have been disputed. She hoped to use the opportunity to show the accusations from all the people she filed, that she would not have been able take him to court for herself. However, he won the case and court let him walk away free somehow (he is a rich white dude, that’s how). The account was deleted and she is no longer allowed to talk about her case publically. A portion of Twitter is rightfully having an outrage right now, and we’re trying to get the hashtag #fuckqf trending to bring attention to this issue. We’re also trying to spread the Drive document she made as much as possible so the piles of evidence aren’t lost. We don’t want this case to be ignored just because court was unjust. We want him to be fired from his roles and we want his victims to have justice for what he’s done over the years. We want to succeed where the justice system has failed.

Does anyone know? What is being done?

Square Enix is aware of the situation and currently investigating the case. They have been sent the GD doc compiling the evidence. However, it is imperative we continue to (politely, without spam) pressure them to look into this case as soon as possible.

Some voice actors from Metal Gear also seem to be aware. They have recently done a video chat that included just about the whole cast except for him, and when BewareQFlynn pointed this out, Tasia Valenza (one of the VAs) liked her tweet.

So far, he is yet to be fired from any of his major roles for this scandal (and maybe even minor ones, I haven’t heard of any at least).

How can I help?

The OP has included links that allow you to contact Square Enix, his main employer. You might also want to try contacting Konami, Blizzard (he’s in WoW), Riot or any other companies he works for currently (a reminder, in case anyone hasn’t seen, that he is not part of Sonic’s cast anymore, so no need to contact SEGA).

Other than that? Spread this! Spread it like wildfire, don’t let it die! Reblog, retweet, use the hashtag!

Please. Even if you’re not in any of these fandoms, this is important. Think about the characters he’s voiced. Axel. Reno. Raiden. What do these guys have in common? They are “cool” and popular with young girls. He uses these characters to attract his fans, who he uses for sex under the pretense of serious relationships. Who he sexually assaults at cons. That’s all he cares about. I have watched interviews with this man before I knew the scum he was and I can guarantee you, he knows nothing about Axel, Reno, Raiden or any of his characters. He knows nothing substantial about Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy or Metal Gear. Not a single thing. He consistently misses the most obvious references and is incapable of giving any insight about anyone he’s ever voiced. He doesn’t care about his roles, he doesn’t care about Axel no matter how much it may seem so from his social media, he cares about the young gullible fans that Axel brings him, and only that.

These characters deserve better than to be used as a tool for grooming. Help us stop it from happening any longer.

I’ll continue to boost this every so often for the foreseeable future until it starts getting mainstream press. (If it does, I’ll be boosting that instead.)

Please continue to be aware of and warn others about this man. Contact his employers (particularly Square, as that’s his most well known ongoing role and therefore the most dangerous.) If you know anyone who works in cons, gaming journalism, VA, etc, please tip them off. Warn your friends. Do not let him ever pull this shit again. The more people know, the better they can stay safe.

And if another game is announced featuring him, if cons start to make a comeback and he is a guest - that will be the time to make it very clear to all involved that he is not welcome in any community. Boycott, message, call, et cetera. Protect yourselves.

Kingdom Hearts is coming to PC, so please, please make sure to warn new fans about Axel’s VA.

UPDATE 2/17: Quinton Flynn has been recast in his role as Henry Cooldown for the next No More Heroes Game, while the rest of the major cast appears to be unchanged.

While I can’t say one way or another if this has to do with the allegations, this is a promising sign either way - he’s losing industry clout and roles. Keep up the pressure on his other roles (especially Square, since Axel is such a big role for him) and above all keep warning fans.

Bringing this back since 2020 is the worst and Axis Powers has been confirmed to be coming back. These aren’t a case of death of the author/being able to separate artist from their work. I don't get seasonal depression, I just get slightly sleepier and more irritable and mopey when I don’t get any sunlight, but when I said this to my doctor she was like “you should still get a lightbox” and I did and now I have way more energy.  The moral of the story is, if you spend time thinking to yourself “well I don’t actually have [diagnosable problem], I have [milder version that I can just ignore]”, you could instead of just ignoring it get the accommodation for the problem and see if it improves your life. I do not expect to remember this next time I “don’t actually have the real problem”, but maybe eventually I will learn.

We treat accommodations like something that you can only have if you’re really really desperately suffering and cannot function at all without them, but that’s… really really not the case. Or at least it shouldn’t be.

see years ago my grandmother was diagnosed with cancer, and as happens with progressing cancer her mobility was drastically reduced. To help combat this and allow her to retain independence at home Papa (my grandfather) got a shower chair. This is about as self-descriptive as it can get, it is a chair made of metal and plastic that sits in your shower or bathtub. I’m sure those with physical disabilities are already quite familiar with them, for those of you that aren’t just google it.

Eventually my grandmother passed. A couple years after my dad had to stay at Papa’s house for a couple weeks, for his own medical reasons. While there he discovered that Papa had kept the chair. And while Papa was old he was hardly infirm, he didn’t use a cane or have any severe mobility issues. Certainly none that would have affected his ability to stand in the shower. The conversation went more or less as such:

Dad: Why they hell did you keep the shower chair, dad? You don’t need it

Papa: Kevin, you wait until you use it. Then you’ll know why I kept it.

My dad was disbelieving tbh, to him chairs in showers when you don’t need them was a thing that like. Lazy rich people had. wtf could be so great about being able to sit in the shower? Why would an able-bodied person even need to? it’s a fucking shower? wash urself and then get out. Then he used the chair, and according to him it was like he’d had a proper religious revelation. Shortly after his return home (tbh the amount of time it took for him to take a shower sans chair) my dad went out and bought a shower chair.

The ensuing conversation with my mother went as such:

Mom: Kevin why did you buy that? We don’t need it!

Dad: Just use it once, this will change your life.

And it did. After using the chair for the first time my mom straight up wanted to know why they had never thought to get a chair for the shower before. Ever since we have had a chair in the shower.

It has proven itself invaluable.

I have no current mobility issues, and yet if I had to move house tomorrow a shower chair of my own would be one of the first things I purchase for my own home.

It’s so easy to fall into the trap of “this could make my life easier but do I really need it?” And y’know what maybe you don’t need it. Maybe you don’t need that accommodation, but maybe it would make your life easier anyway. When it comes to things that you keep in your home for personal use does it really matter? Besides there is always the very real chance that buying it now, when you don't’ need it but can afford it, will save your ass down the line when you suddenly do desperately need it.

I would also like to point out: if able-bodied people start using things that were originally designed as disability accommodations, they become normalised. They become acceptable. And then all of a sudden they’re widely available, they usually become cheaper, and disabled people don’t get shit for needing them.

Buy the damn shower chair. Get a JarKey so you don’t need gorilla strength to open the pickled onions. Install soft-touch taps. Revel in your newly comfortable life while also making the world a slightly more disability-friendly place.

I wasn’t sure where to post this, but if anyone is struggling with the storms (or you know people who are) and their pipes have burst, the roof has caved in, or there is physical damage to the home.  Please advise them to call their insurance company asap.  As an agent, I know many are unaware of the coverage for loss of use.  This will provide them money to get a hotel and live for a bit, while the house is inhabitable (sic).

Loss of use coverage from your insurance company is standard and included FOR FREE with most homeowners, condo, or renters insurance policy.  It covers both expenses during the storm and after the storm if your home is uninhabitable before repairs can be made!  Plumbing repair wait times are going to be a thing here!  Roof repairs also!  Call your insurance now and document, document, document!  

If you need loss of use reimbursement while waiting for plumbing repairs to be made, try to get in writing (email or text message you can screenshot should be ok) that you can’t get it fixed right away.  Having that from multiple service companies will support your loss of use.  Your agent (if you have one) can be a great advocate for you but they do not actually handle the claims approval process.  They do have some leverage to argue for you with your insurance company’s claims department but some unscrupulous agents will be unhelpful because many companies pay bonuses to agents who can sell claims-free policies.

Bonus insurance tip!  You don’t have to get multiple bids if the work is going to cost more than your deductible.  You are legally required to pay your deductible but insurance is going to pay the rest so hire a company who does good work and you are comfortable with them.  A company that promises that you won’t have to pay your deductible is literally promising to break the law.  Don’t trust them.  

Anything extra you are wanting done (and can afford) might be cheaper to add now since the service call and some of the work is already paid for!  

Also, if your pipes burst you can turn your water off to prevent more damage. I highly recommend everyone learn how to do this in your home even if you’re not currently in a storm ravaged area. It can save you so, so much damage.

Usually, the valves to do this will be located near your hot water heater and simply turning them will shut off the water, which should work in an emergency, but if you have time to look at it now I recommend learning exactly how it all works. Depending how your plumbing is set up, there’s probably a proper order to turning things off and if you’re not careful you could do things like burning out your hot water heater. That’s not a big deal if the alternative is flooding your entire house, but if you need to turn it off for not quite as big of an emergency, you’ll want to be sure you’re doing it right.

I learned how to do this because I live part-time in a house with incredibly janky plumbing that has to be turned on and off all the time, but anyone with basic plumbing experience should likely be able to tell you how to do it for your system.
