Update: Don't try this at home or anywhere. This creates one of the worst things I've ever personally made.
It started off fine as I mixed them. It changed to the color of the toothpaste (white), and vaguely resembled lotion in appearance. Then I made a horrible error. I touched it.
I touched it and immediately nearly all of it adhered to my skin. Everything I touched thereafter gained a thin layer of vaguely minty-smelling slime. It was some unholy abomination of a substance. Water couldn't get it off. Soap couldn't get it off. It stuck to tile, it stuck to wood, it stuck to carpet, and it doesn't adhere to itself, so no amount of scraping with my hands could get it off, it just spread more.
Finally I had to get a sacrificial towel to wipe the substance off of me and everything I'd touched on the way to get the towel. Despite washing and scraping with a brush, my hands still smell like mint and feel slightly slimy. I can feel my skin burning from the mint flavoring of the toothpaste nearly an hour after getting it off my skin. I didn't even know that was possible until today. I could have gone my whole life without knowing that, but now I know.
I have no idea what the ad actually wants you to do with this concoction as I did not click through, but I can only assume it wants you to use it to torture prisoners or something, there seems to be no other possible purpose for it.

Suburbanites do not have town squares in which to protest. They do not have streets to march down. Target has become the closest thing many have to a public forum. We often hear that urban areas are more liberal and suburban ones more conservative, and we’re often told that this is because of race. Even cities, as Sarah Schulman writes in The Gentrification of the Mind, have become places where people expect convenience and calmness over culture and community. What is a life of living in a surveilled and amenity-filled high-rise and ordering all your food and objects from the Internet to your door if not a suburban life? To make matters worse, the people who have adopted this mindset do not see it as an ideology, but as the normal and right state of the world; they, as Schulman writes, “look in the mirror and think it’s a window.” So when anything, even a gay T-shirt, disrupts their view, they become scared.

I feel like a good shorthand for a lot of economics arguments is "if you want people to work minimum wage jobs in your city, you need to allow minimum wage apartments for them to live in."
"These jobs are just for teenagers on the weekends." Okay, so you'll use minimum wage services only on the weekends and after school. No McDonald's or Starbucks on your lunch break.
"They can get a roommate." For a one bedroom? A roommate for a one bedroom? Or a studio? Do you have a roommate to get a middle-wage apartment for your middle-wage job? No? Why should they?
"They can live farther from city center and just commute." Are there ways for them to commute that don't equate to that rent? Living in an outer borough might work in NYC, where public transport is a flat rate, but a city in Texas requires a car. Does the money saved in rent equal the money spent on the car loan, the insurance, the gas? Remember, if you want people to take the bus or a bike, the bus needs to be reliable and the bike lanes survivable.
If you want minimum wage workers to be around for you to rely on, then those minimum wage workers need a place to stay.
You either raise the minimum wage, or you drop the rent. There's only so long you can keep rents high and wages low before your workforce leaves for cheaper pastures.
"Nobody wants to work anymore" doesn't hold water if the reason nobody applies is because the commute is impossible at the wage you provide.
Hey Steve! Mind your own fucking business! If you can’t do that, use your words to frame the argument accurately at least. Preventing children from being exposed to sexually explicit material and ideas that are way beyond their level of maturity is not “banning books”. No one is preventing anyone from buying anything. If you want your children to see this kind of thing, then buy the book and show them yourself. I will teach my kid about those things when I think they are mature enough to handle it, and not before. So, like I said, Captain Trips, MYOB!
Gunsol? This is about books like MAUS being banned from middle/high schools because they teach about the Holocaust. This has nothing to do with sex. Get your mind out of the gutter and read a book or two. This is about the censoring of information. Framing an argument around sex is ridiculous, especially coming from someone who hasn't had any.
My sentiment stands. This is not about banning books on any level. It is about having age appropriate limits on what children are exposed to, and in what setting. I nor anyone I know wants to “ban” books. My kid shouldn’t be reading about the holocaust in middle school because they haven’t the maturity or knowledge base to understand what it is they are being told. High school is more appropriate. Neither should elementary students be exposed to ideas about gender and sexual orientation that are far beyond their ability to rationally understand. If you can’t understand this simple concept then you are part of the problem.
Jewish kids have to learn about the Holocaust when they're children and PoC have to learn about racism when they're kids - your children should not be immune to learning about difficult truths like antisemitism and racism just because your kids are white and unaffected. And queer kids have a right to know they're not alone prior to fucking highschool. I knew I was gay by the time I was eight and had my first crush, but I didn't have the vocabulary to express it because I grew up Catholic and was not allowed to know what "gay" meant. I thought I was broken because the idea of having kids like a good little wife made me sick. Removing kids' ability to learn about themselves will never, ever help them, and you are actively harming young queer kids by keeping them from finding words to express themselves.
