welcome to the jam

Esmée/23/pan/she/they Hi, sorry for spam reblogging all of your posts Don't expect me to be interesting: all that exists here is complaining, video games, anime and now politics I guess ://

hey now that it’s disability pride month can you please remember to include people with Down syndrome and other chromosomal defects into your activism. they’re so often left behind. I literally never see anyone spreading Down syndrome awareness that isn’t close family of someone with Down syndrome. They exist and they’re living breathing humans who deserve just as much activism as every other disabled person

Apparently the guy who owns and made this submarine is literally against safety precautions.

What do you mean your naval vessel doesn't have an emergency beacon!?!?!?!?!

“You know, there’s a limit,” he told the broadcaster. “At some point, safety is just pure waste. I mean if you don’t just want to be safe, don’t get out of bed. Don’t get in your car. Don’t do anything. At some point, you’re going to take some risk and it really is a risk-reward question. I think I can do this just as safely by breaking the rules.”

Sir I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of life

the crab day thing kind of proves staff must think we're all fucking idiots

hi there. tumblr as a website is currently operating at a deficit because nobody wants to pay for ad free browsing. this is because basic quality-of-life features are either nonexistent or malfunctioning, our staff refuses to take the most trivial of anti-hate speech measures despite demonstrating the tools to do so against minority bloggers, and every form of content moderation is heavily and transparently weighted against the LGBT community. as the people in charge, we have decided that we're going to ignore all of those factors and instead make an appeal to nostalgia to get you to buy dumb cosmetic bullshit for your dashboard while we threaten to turn the website into an even less functional twitter clone, much like how all the smartest shipwrights in the 1920s decided to model their new vessels after the RMS Titanic.

As someone who will never join Threads, I find there to be something exceptionally insidious about the part of its dogshit privacy practices where it collects users’ contact data.

A lot of people have my phone number, and not all of them take privacy seriously. A few of them are bound to join Threads at some point. This means I never even have to join the platform for it to collect my full name, contact info, current or past address, and reconstruct at least part of my social and/or professional circle. Despite the fact that I have never agreed to any of this, it is completely legal since people with my contact info have consented to Meta collecting their (and therefore my) info. I hate it here 🫠

For those who want to hear about this from somebody a little more trustworthy than 'tumblr user milfmarthawayne' (which, props to you, I wouldn't blindly trust me either) here are a couple of articles that talk about the privacy concerns surrounding Threads (+ similar apps)!

I see Hollywood is now very into the idea of buying something once and then owning it forever and being able to make infinite copies. Which. Isn’t quite the message they imparted upon me in my childhood. In the spirit of their own long-held stance:
