Oozing of Onslaughttitude

@onslaughtsix / onslaughtsix.tumblr.com

Had a dream about a legacy sequel show for Doug. Here's the pitch:

Doug and Patty end up together through high school but they end up going to different colleges. They try to make it work long distance but eventually it doesn't work. Doug becomes a semi-famous webcomics artist who also has a popular blog attached to the webcomic.

One day Doug gets a letter that his favourite childhood neighbour Mr. Dink has passed away and left all of his money and his old house to Doug. (He had no kids and his wife died earlier.) With a bunch of money saved up and a paid off house, Doug decides to move back to Bluffington to do his webcomic and blog from his roots, living next to his parents and in his old hometown.

Patti's dad got sick and so she had to quit college to get a job and support him. While this happened she ended up hanging out with Roger who became less of a jerk after school, and they ended up having a kid. But the relationship didn't work out and she ends up with custody. Patti and Roger's son is now 10-13 years old.

Now with Doug back on the scene he tries to rekindle the romance with Patti who is more than willing to give it a shot, with the complication that he is now also surrogate parenting the son of his high school bully. Roger Jr. isn't a bad kid but he's had a rough go of it and so he acts out a bit.

The show is Doug dealing with the challenges of raising a teenage son that isn't his, reconnecting with an old relationship, and seeing how small town life has changed for all of his old friends over the last 20+ years.

y’know there’s an awful lot of talk about the shared experience that was the animorphs series and how it sticks with you, but nobody else ever talks about the greatest plague on my mind for years afterwards

Hey I'm still looking for an artist or two who can do some work for our TTRPG book. Let me know if this is you. Paying gig.

what was the first show y’all broke up with…you know like the first show you had that was your everything for a good amount of time and then it fucked up so bad that like you felt your heart breaking with sadness, disappointment and hurt and then you vowed never to see it again? i’ll start mine was shame/ess

Not the first one but I didn't watch a single episode of Deep Space 9 after Ezri Dax

I made this out of spite. That quote on the image? That's a real quote. That's a real thing a guy said to me on Twitter yesterday. And I just, I couldn't. My response was, "That's why the game is called Torches & Rations, right? ...wait." So I made that game. I made a game exclusively about tracking torches and rations. This seems like it's the most important thing to a certain kind of very old school gamer, so I made a game that's JUST about that. You don't get to fight monsters. You don't get to cast spells. You don't find any cool magic loot or solve any puzzles. You just track torches and rations.

I'm looking for some artists for a TTRPG project I'm working on. We have money. It's cyberpunk, character drawing stuff. No backgrounds. 90s anime vibes a plus. Message me here, reblog, or tag a friend!

Lots of old school scenes are participating in #Dungeon23, a fun project to create a megadungeon (or a city or whatever you like) with 12 levels, one room at a time. I made a short video giving you ideas and tips for how you can set up your notebook: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjPE_8h6rYM

Recommend Your Indie TTRPG to Me!

So, I have done this twice this year back at Twitter, but ya know what, let’s do that here too!

To all indie TTRPG creators, I would like you to post links to your own work or any other one that you want to recommend to other people in this post! And who know, I might just pick some and make review videos on it!

Need a playtester for my new TTRPG CRAWL

Its a low fantasy dungeon crawling game and it’s real simple to play and (probably) fun! I got 2 players but I need a Definitive Third. We are probably gonna play around 630-7pm EST for maybe 2 hours tops. If you are my friend and are available, let me know and I’ll hook you up with the details.

TTRPG experience not required but Discord and a microphone is.

SEE YOU, SPACE COWBOY... is our 32 page full TTRPG inspired by Cowboy Bebop and other late 90s space & scifi anime. Get together with your friends and go flying across the system hunting bad guys to make money to afford noodles, and also be really sad about your tortured past.

Not enough trauma? That’s why we got IRREGULAR, a one page TTRPG that lets you play as part of a team of bad guy robot hunting cyborgs, dealing with the inherent trauma of fighting an endless war against horrible bad guys. It’s obviously inspired by the Mega Man/X franchise and you can definitely play it as part of that.

I would love it if we made some money off of these so we could fund new projects and games, so we put a little progress bar on the page. Make it go up and you’ll get the satisfaction of knowing YOU CONTRIBUTED!

Today one of my very best friends and I sat down for like 2 hours and Created Something that I think is one of the best and most useful tools for fantasy TTRPG worldbuilding and procedural content I’ve ever seen and I can’t wait to write it up and show it to you

CLOSING THE VERBAL/SOMATIC LOOPHOLE

Somatic (S) Spellcasting gestures might include a forceful gesticulation or an intricate set of gestures. If a spell requires a somatic component, the caster must have free use of at least one hand to perform these gestures.
Material (M) Casting some spells requires particular objects, specified in parentheses in the component entry. A character can use a component pouch or a spellcasting focus (found in “Equipment”) in place of the components specified for a spell. But if a cost is indicated for a component, a character must have that specific component before he or she can cast the spell. If a spell states that a material component is consumed by the spell, the caster must provide this component for each casting of the spell. A spellcaster must have a hand free to access a spell’s material components – or to hold a spellcasting focus – but it can be the same hand that he or she uses to perform somatic components.

In other words: If it’s somatic, you need a free hand to do Dr. Strange hand wigglies. If it’s material, you need to hold on to an object–whether it’s the actual listed material components from a component pouch or a spellcasting focus–in order to cast the spell. This seems pretty straightforward.

Got a doozy of game design text this week, folks, talking about The Dragon Game and the #1 stupidest rule in it.

start normalizing long hair as androgynous. long hair can be gender-neutral too.

tired of seeing nonbinary characters & fashion with short, dyed hair. give me long-haired enbies or give me death

it is honestly weird as hell to me how strictly long hair seems to have been coded as feminine in recent years, seeing as it didn't seem to be that strict in my adolescence (mid-late 2000s)

like, long hair on men was mostly a music subculture thing, but it wasn't *unheard of* and i find it extremely jarring when people even like, a couple years younger than me act like it is

of course, that is just men, but if long hair can exist on men (and masculine ones, at that), then surely it isn't too ~intrinsically feminine~ to be the domain of androgyny either

I maintain that everybody looks better with long hair and should have it

what’s everyone’s lockscreen?? tell me in the tags or reblog with a screenshot

I happened to completely redo this today, so

I use Adapticons to make my own icon packs and Action Launcher as my launch screen app.

With a fresh amount of people possibly seeing my posts I think it’s high time I go back to the time honoured tradition of ruining my personal brand by posting extremely hot takes about things no one asked me about

this is all preamble to say

Radiohead sucks

Available now for $1 is the One Page Edition of our Mega Man/X-inspired TTRPG about violence and trauma in a robotic future. An expanded edition is coming in the future! Grab it now!

The oldheads around me know that for a long period of my life I was obsessed with That Band and that DNA is still in me, so here’s a thing for all of the refugees.
