this time not solely sinnoh trio edition:
It’s really interesting to me how the differences between the Chosen siblings can be explained by Green being older and Silver being younger.
Silver was only two when he was kidnapped, (he was literally a baby), and since we know the groups of children were kept separate, and Pryce would have been only scarcely paternal at best, Green essentially became Silver’s sole caretaker when she was just five years old. Silver’s earliest memories would have been of her taking care of him, (which would explain why Silver is so adamant about referring to Green as his sister, while it’s never stated how she feels about him). Silver was probably around five when they escaped, and based on the other dexholders’ flashbacks to when they were the same age, Silver still would have been at least partially dependent on someone to take care of him, so at the end of the day it would have fallen to Green to make sure that they both had shelter and enough to eat.
These slight differences explain a lot about how they both turned out. Silver has a rock-solid moral compass, and we know exactly what things he is and isn’t willing to do to achieve his goal. For example, we know he thinks stealing is okay, but he always goes out of his way to make up for the things he steals, like how he returned all the badges in HGSS and offered to turn himself in at the end of GSC for stealing the pokedex. He also immediately refused to accept Giovanni as his father, and was prepared to walk away from him despite how long he had searched and how much he wanted to return to his family. My guess is that, unlike his sister, Silver was able to develop a moral compass as a child because he had someone older looking out for him, which is a luxury Green didn’t have. Green is also three years older than Silver, and even though pokemon characters age differently, three years makes a big difference when you’re that young.
Especially when Silver was first kidnapped, Green had the responsibility of taking care of both of them, which seems like it would give her an unfathomable amount of trauma, and explains why she presents a cheery facade and has such a hard time being vulnerable. (Hell, the beginning of FRLG states that Green was overcoming her trauma because of her friendship with Red and Blue, and just a few chapters later they literally had to read her diary to find out that she was meeting her parents, something she’s been working toward for years).
It’s clear in the beginning of the series that Green cares very little about morality. She cons Red in her first scene, and spends her debut arc conning people and acting performatively to get things out of them. Professor Oak makes her promise to never steal again, and she seems sincere in agreeing to it, but in the very next arc she breaks into Bill’s house in the dead of night to steal data from him, despite him saying that he would have given it to her if she had just asked.
It’s probably the case that since she was so young when she was forced into a position of responsibility in a world where she had to steal to survive, she detached herself from feeling empathy and became a compulsive thief/liar. I maintain my position that Green is the most traumatized dexholder, and the position she was put in explains how hard it was for her to develop and follow a sense of morality. Being a thief benefitted her a lot as a child, (not to mention that she delayed the Masked Man’s plan by nine years by stealing the feathers from him), but she was only able to grow out of it through her friendship with Red and Blue, who both have strong senses of morality.
The main similarity between the siblings is that they both struggle with emotional vulnerability. Otherwise, it’s interesting how, even though they had the same childhood, the slight differences in said childhood perfectly explain how they grew into very different adults.
Pikachu comes around to Jessie rather quickly after realizing she’s not really a threat and finding out how good at head scratches she is (she has nice long nails)

Hi! I was assigned Vibrava for a Chilean Pokedex Project. I drew it in the Atacama Desert flowering on Chile. Hope you like it! ( ‘ᴗ’ )
