🌜- energy update  -🌛

stop, pause, breath, and take some time to actually consider what you want and what you’re working towards. with mercury in retrograde and a full moon approaching, now is the perfect time for reflection. are you doing things simply because you feel you have to? or are you doing things because you want too and because it feels in alignment? take some time to remember your purpose and direction. now is not the time for busy work and erratic, unplanned action. be intentional with your time and energy. ✨

green magick for the home

an apple can be used for a simple house blessing; cut an apple in half, and eat one half in your home. place the other outside, in the backyard or front porch, as an offering to good spirits for protection and warm energy.

bay leaves can be placed in the corners of a room to banish evil from it and protect those within it.

a cactus can be grown near a house to offer strong protection; even stronger protection is gained by planting cacti at all for corners of the home.

planting catnip in the garden, or hanging it above your door, will attract good spirits and good luck.

chamomile can be sprinkled about in the home to break curses and unwanted spells cast on or in the home.

cilantro brings peace and harmony to a home.

clover can be sprinkled around a home to banish unwanted spirits.

garlic can be hung in a home to bring its inhabitants closer together.

ivy plants can be hung to deter unwanted guests.

lavender can be burned and its ashes sprinkled about to cultivate rest and tranquility within the home.

orange peel can be placed in windowsills to bless the house with angel and sun energy.

peppermint can be burned as a smoke cleanser to remove illness and negative energy from a new home.

a sprig of pine can be hung in the home to bless it and its inhabitants.

sachets of saffron can bring happiness to the home.

thyme burned or hung inside brings good health to its residents.

Additional Items:

Basil grown in the garden or hung to dry in the home deters bad luck and unfriendly visitors. “Where Basil Grows, No Evil Goes.”

Birch Twigs, or a birch broom, tied with a red ribbon and hung over the door protects the inhabitants of the household, especially young children.

Chili Peppers hung on strings encourage enduring love and harmony among residents, as well as being handy for cooking and hex-breaking.

Ginger, when added to meals or consumed in tea, increases the potency of spells performed after consumption.

Lemon can be added to floor washes or homemade sprays to cleanse and purify the home as you go about your regular cleaning.

Onions pierced with black-headed pins and placed on a windowsill prevent evil from entering the home.

Orange Peels, taken from halved oranges, can be dried and used as fragrant holders for tealights, or chopped and added to prosperity spells.

Roses planted at the corners of the home or on a trellis by the front door provide a barrier against trespassers, misfortune, and baneful magic.

Sesame Seeds may be kept on the altar or in a packet in your spare change jar to encourage a constant flow of money into the household.

Sunflowers invite happiness and positivity into the home, and bring luck and good harvests to gardeners.

Don’t you dare lose that magic in your heart young sprite. Don’t ever stop running barefoot in the fields, climbing trees, reading old fairy stories, don’t lose that childhood whimsy and innocence, and ease of belief! Don’t let yourself be so clouded in the mechanics and machinery that is every day life that you lose that wild spirit and wonderful wicked mischievousness. Don’t lose your spontaneity and sense of adventure. One day when your old and your body fails you, it will be the sparkle in your eye, and the grin on your face, knowing you didn’t live just a life, you lived the most wild and extravagant one of all.

Past me was too cute

The human personality encompasses a nearly infinite number of variables. There are 12 astrological signs.

Yeah dude like it blows my mind! As per your suggestion, I’ll do the math! :D

There are 12 signs, and 10 planets and (ignoring the few limitations on placements) that means there are… 12^10… Good lord, that’s 61,917,364,224 different possible natal combinations.

And then when you throw in the fact that each planet could be in one of the 12 houses (again, ignoring those few limitations) that’s another 61,917,364,224 added, to make it 123,834,728,448 different natal chart possibilities.

And then each house can be in one of the twelve signs, so that’s 8,916,100,450,000 added, which brings it to 9,039,935,178,448 different natal charts possible.

And this completely neglects all the asteroids and other minor bodies, the vertex and antivertex, the nodes of the moon, the four Liliths, and lots of other things.

i will always reblog this

I was waiting for this to show up on my dash again

Huh

Anonymous asked:

Doing any sort of spell exhausts me for weeks, even simple spells. Why is this? Is it related to my mental and physical health (neither are very good tbh)

It definitely could be related. When you’re doing spell work and really feeling it, your energy is moving and being directed and if you already don’t feel great, it can be exhausting.

There are a few things that you can do to help.

  • Try and use external energy sources instead of your own. Plants and herbs, fire and the other elements, crystals, tools, moon phases and sunlight. Figure out what lends itself to the working best and draw on that energy to cast.
  • Centering and grounding. Before you actually do the thing, do some work centering your energy. Pull in all those threads of energy that are connected to stimuli outside of the moment. It’s a practice of mindfulness and letting the stuff outside stop pulling your focus and your energy. Then, work on the connection the the ground, stable and vast. Do your spell work afterwards and you may feel drained a bit. It usually takes a couple try’s to get the process done quickly, but it’s like a muscle…needs exercise.
  • Self care post ritual. I do a lot of my spellwork at night. One of the benefits is I can relax afterwards, drink something, snack on something, take a shower if I need and then go to sleep.
  • I know you said after simple spells you also get tired but maybe you’re trying to fit too much into a working that would be otherwise simple. Try breaking down the goal into smaller parts and do those to build up to the big goal. Takes some practice but is a very effective spellcasting tool.
  • Lastly, don’t sweat it. It’s all practice, magic has its ins and outs and it’s fine if you struggle to find what works best for you. Just because it works for me doesn’t mean it works for everyone. Conversely, just because it worked for everyone I know, doesn’t mean it will work for me. Magic is based on individuals, their experience their history and ancestry, their land and their own outlooks on magic, the world and themselves. No wonder everyone practices differently right?

Fog in Witchcraft

Fog is often a forgotten aspect of weather that seems to get passed over when it comes to witchcraft despite it having some powerful and noble uses as well as a history in the craft. Though not all areas get fog commonly, many do, almost every morning depending on the time of year. Allow this small post to perhaps be some help to those who have interest in harnessing fog into their craft.

History and Fiction

As stated above, in many literary sources witches of both historical senses and fiction harness fog as a powerful towel. In popular lore, witches were said to summon fogs to roll across the lands to protect fleeing mothers and children during wars to hide from invading soldiers, though this lore is hard to pin point down, it is often said to come from Celtic and Gaelic origins.

In other tales witches would summon fog to protect traveling royalty or heroes who are on a quest to reach lands that may be unfriendly to their arrival. At some other times fog was related to almost like the “witching hour” it meant it was a time that the supernatural were out and witches were casting their spells.

Fog as a Liminal Space

What is a liminal space? To put it simply it means a “transforming space” or a place that the Veil or energies are thinner and overcross one another. Often they are associated with spirit work, energy work, astral work and over all witchcraft. Some call these places or areas “places where one area and time stop and another begins”.

In many cases, places that are covered by fog often are said to be liminal spaces during this time, due to the surrealism and energy fog brings with it. It turns something mundane looking to mysterious, confusing and even to some creepy. Its concealing nature brings the feeling of the unknown and the unseen.

Traditionally and theatrically fog is often used to represent the Veil between worlds and afterlife, often used in settings of literature and movies by covering graveyards before something supernatural happens or by filling the streets at night when magick is about to begin. Often when many people who don’t practice the craft think of supernatural energies and the Veil they imagine a foggy night or a wall of fog, this imagery is for a reason.

Often, fog is seen as an important tool for spirit work both fictionally and modernly due to its relations of being a liminal space and therefore seen as easier to contact spirits with the barriers weaker when it arrives.

Correpsondences and Uses of Fog

Generally Fog Corresponds with - The Veil, Spirits/Spirit Work, The Hidden, The Unseen, Invisibility, Protection, Obstruction, Curses/Hexes, Warding, Meditation, Astral Work, Fear, Patience, Calmness, Serenity, Peace and Travel

Often times, fog is useful to one when they wish to cast or enchant items for invisibility and protection during travel, often necklaces or items enchanted while out in the fog. Others will take the opportunity of using fog for spiritual communication, past life work and astral projection, taking advantage of the weakened barriers and Veil for these purposes.

Associations

Crystals - Clear Quartz, Smokey Quartz, Thunder Egg

Herbs/Plants - Cotton, Broom, Saffron, Thistle/Thicket, Wheat, Pansy

Colors - Gray, Silver, Black, Blue

Other Tools - Steam, Incense/Smoke, Wands, Besoms, Branches, Storm Water/Rain Water, Ash, Dust, Mirrors and Gray Candles

Fog Summoning

There are many ways said to summon fog. A few of those ways will be listed below

Method 1: Using storm water boiling it until it has thick amounts of steam rising from it, carefully move it outside or to a window (if one is not already outside) and offer it to the sky. Many will chant or call to the weather or winds to bring them fog much like the steam of the pot.

Method 2: In water on a burner add storm or sea salt and a sigil on paper for fog. Close the lid to it and wait until it is boiling. Remove the lid and allow the steam to rise. Here chant if desired for fog or let the water boil until it is nearly gone.

Method 3: With a besom go outside if it is a private space and much like wind summoning call to the fog to come to you, using your tool as an extension of yourself and your energy. Remember to ask it to come rather than demand for it.

Method 4: Using storm water or rain water, ash and a jar fill it with these ingredients and shake it thoroughly to summon fog. Be sure to center yourself and focus on your energy to put into this fog summoning jar. Leave it outside or in a window afterwards for further effects.

Fog Water

Fog water is a tool that can be used for witchcraft when fog is not rightfully available or in place of rain water/storm water in fog summoning. To capture fog water is pretty easy though you must be able to accept small amounts.

First you will need either very fine fabric or mesh or screen similar to what can be found in windows or for fishing nets. Tight it taunt onto something to hold it up like rods or sticks. Make sure it is held up at least a couple feet above the ground and somewhere the fog will roll through it. Base it off of how high the fog in your area tends to be, if you have low rolling fogs it may work better lower to the ground. After or during a time of fog you should be able to see droplets of water forming on it, you may use a jar tied below a corner of it to capture these drops or you can collect it yourself during/after they have formed. You can build much larger versions of this for potable water gathering and tutorials on this can be found easily online if that may interest you.

Store your fog water in glass containers and in the fridge, be sure to date and label to ensure you are using fresh water. Do not drink this water unless you set up the proper potable filtration systems.

Diffusing Fog

Often witches will find themselves tasked with fog being a hindrance rather than helpful. Its a dangerous weather condition especially for those on the road or at sea.

Historically, sea witches would be asked to disperse fog for the safe return and port of sea vessels and the men upon them. Though it is difficult to find exact spells from these times, often broom or heather is used by facing the sea with it in hand and waving at the fog, putting energy into it and telling the fog to disperse. Other times it is said using a broom/besom to summon winds to remove the fog was a preferred way.

Other options for witches is to sing a fog removal song and often dance accompanied with it and with either a besom or wand in hand, direct the fog to travel away from you and somewhere else. Other witches have found success in praying and working with weather deities to move the fog back to the sky or to lead it away.

Omens, Superstitions and Dreams

In omens it is said fog represents blindness. It blocks our ability to see clearly and makes normal directions seem impossible to follow. It can go hand in hand with confusion and the feelings of anxiety. When fog appears in visions it is to be seen often as a warning that things are about to get just that - foggy.

Though it is also related to shrouding oneself, it may be a sign that it is time for you to create a fog about yourself and to build up those wards.

Superstition wise it was believed fog would steal people, often due to people getting lost in it and vanishing, because of this fog is seen as a warning of loss to come. Some cultures even associate it directly with death.

In dreams fog holds many meanings. If the fog is throughout the whole dream then it is a warning of deception. Someone is deceiving you and deep down you know it to be true. If you dream of being wrapped in fog and it is too thick to see through or escape it is often related to feeling that someone has stolen something from you. Dreaming of wandering in a foggy environment is a warning of dangers to come, keep on your toes. If you escape fog it means you are avoiding danger or theft.

If one dreams of fog just being around their head, eyes or following above them like a halo/hat, then it is an indication that you are lying to yourself. You are refusing to let yourself see the truth. It can also be a play of the saying “its all in your head” meaning you are overthinking a problem.

If you dream of fog and snow together, it is often said to be a dream related to sickness soon to come. Others say its a sign that illness of the mind and emotions is going to creep its way in.

If one dreams of their home, bedroom or apartment being filled with fog it is often taken as a bad omen and sign that a large family drama is soon to come.

Seeing a figure in fog in dreams can have different meanings. If it is someone that you know it means they may be hiding things from you or that you are going to have a fight with them in the near future. It can also indicate if you are in the fog and you see them outside of the fog, that you are guilty about something you did to them. Seeing a stranger in the fog or a shadow you do not recognize is often due to anxiety or fear in one’s waking life. They represent the unknown and the future to come, which you are currently stressed over. Animals in the fog can represent both anxieties and fears looming about you but also can represent that you a repressing your own desires and natural wants.

If you see fog rolling in from the distance of a dream it means something is looming in your waking life. If fog starts descending down on you in a dream from the sky to the ground, many take this as a bad omen for travel especially by air or sea. Historically it is said a foggy sea in your dreams means a shipwreck in your future. Though fog over a lake or river means dream-like wonder and is said that young women who dream of this can expect a mysterious stranger in their future.

Fog and Different Types of Witchcraft

Sea Witchcraft - Fog is often seen as more of a hindrance in ocean magick, especially historically when fog at sea or port could be rather hazardous and bring tragedy to many. Due to this, fog in sea magick is often used for more negative tasks like cursing.

Storm Magick - Fog is often seen more in the light of a less harsh type of weather compared to storms or rain but still one that can be used to harness energy. The energy of foggy weather is much more mysterious, calm and hazy than that of storm or wind. It can be used for such purposes.

Death Magick - Fog is often related to the barriers of the other-side as some may say, so many death witches will take advantage of fog to use it to communicate and commune with the dead. Many report that it can make using tools of communication like Ouija boards and pendulums easier.

Divination - Often fog can be seen as a hindrance for divination though it is often deeply routed with self discovery and past life work. Many will take the opportunity of foggy weather to explore their past lives and the history of themselves and others.

📜 Schools of Magick 🕯

Alteration 🕯

Alteration magick goes into the astral plane before manifesting on the physical (or another plane) through direct energy manipulation.

Example: Hydrokinesis, aerokinesis, chronokinesis, micro-PK

Conjuration 👻

Conjuration magick summons a force, spirit, entity, object, etc, typically by radiating energy from a center point.

Example: Weather spells, necromancy, ceremonial magick

Destruction 🔥

Destruction magick aims to harm, deteriorate, or weaken a target typically through a direct energetic link.

Example: Hexes, curses, jinxes, evil eye

Divination 🔮

Divination magick involves the analyzation of energy constructs into a decipherable and understandable form as psychic information.

Example: precognition, tarot reading, aura viewing, clairaudience

Enchantment ⚗️

Enchantment magick involves the binding of two or more energies in order to make the two influence the others own energy.

Example: talismans, potions, sigils, poppets

Illusion 👁

Illusion magick works on mental and/or emotional plane(s) in order to give impressions and influence the five senses.

Example: glamour, “invisibility”, calmness, paranoia, eye color

Restoration 📿

Restoration magick heals, protects, or strengthens a target typically through a direct energetic link.

Example: warding, circle casting, healing, protection

These are the seven schools of magick that I personally use simply for organization purposes. They are organized in this manner instead of more traditional manners due to my own approach to magick. This is not a summary of the extent of magick nor the practices involved. These are broad categories.

Many witches become witches when they lack other areas of power and wish to make change in their life. This is a very practical approach. They will typically organize themselves by the purpose of a spell: wealth, career, health, love, luck, hexing, etc.

I understand this practical approach, and I definitely use witchcraft when I need it for such uses. But I did not become a witch because of the practicality so much as I did because of the love and passion for magick itself rather than simply what it can bring me.

This love and passion and fascination manifested through my craft by creating a focus on the development of magick. The development of supernatural/psychic powers is the goal of my craft, as well as learning various methods to use my magick best. This has influenced my choice to organize my craft, as well as (now) my tumblr, in this manner. These categories allow me to manipulate energy in various ways to better reinforce my practice. These categories are not based merely on the end goal of magick, but the methods used to get there.

While not every alteration spell will have the exact same method, there will be similarities so that they reinforce each other. Spells of the same school will typically use similar energy manipulation.

what the hell is going on in this country?!

Well damn

Shit has been bad for a while

Right so this lady was smart, if you’re ever in a sedan-style trunk there’s a little pull tab that you can use to get yourself out that is STANDARD in cars built after 2001. It’s the law just like headlights and seatbelts.

if you are in an SUV style vehicle or newer model car you may be able to find the automatic trunk release wire, pull on it, it will pop the trunk

if you can’t find any of that stuff, look for the brake light housing. You will need to pull back the trunk carpeting and feel about. It’s probably bolted in, but some careful wiggling will dislodge it. If people see a goddamn arm waving out of a hole in a car while they poke along I-95 they likely will do something about it

I was about to explain that handle myself. I did in the past and was told I have a sick since of humor for saying it helps to serve as an escape method in kidnappings.

Some of them even glow in the dark for easier finding.

Reblog to save a life

Damn right I’m reblogging, saving lives is kinda my thing.

Small Witchy Challenges to Reconnect to Your Practice

Sometimes it can be hard to really feel connected to the actual magickal side of being a witch. Personally I’m involved with my deities or other spiritual/personal things 110% of the time but I don’t always feel connected to my actual witchcraft. So here are a few small magickal challenges I thought up to help anyone in a similar situation.

✨ – Set aside a time once a week to burn a candle. Make it a color that connects to whatever aspect of your life you would like insight or growth in and spend 10 minutes watching the flame and opening yourself to whatever it is you’re seeking.

✨ – If you have any books with pre written simple spells in them (most intro to witchcraft books have a section) flip through it and find a spell that calls to you and do it! As written, just to practice getting out of your head and going through the motions of spell work.

✨ – Send out blessings. To your crush. A new friend. Your best friend. Your mom. Whoever.

✨ – Call up your energy into your palms and then place them on your own heart to send yourself love and healing and to connect yourself to your energy.

✨ – Spend some time picturing the kind of witch you wish you were, your ideal witchsona if you will. Then tell yourself that’s exactly who you already are. Keep reminding yourself whenever you feel disconnected from your craft that you are already an unbelievable witch.

✨ – Go back through your old book of shadows/grimoire and reflect on what’s worked for you in the past.

✨ – Wake up and tell yourself first thing “I am a witch. I am magick. My life is full of magick. I see and feel all the magick around me. I am a witch.”

✨ – Pick out outfits or accessories that make you feel witchy. (Bonus points for intentionally planning a super witchy outfit on the full moon)

✨ – Do a spell for anything that’s coming up in your life that you want to work out a certain way, no matter how trivial it seems. Test this week? Do a spell. About to start a work out routine? Do a spell. First date? Spell. Gotta stay on budget grocery shopping? Spell. Your worth it, it’s good practice, and if it all ends up working even better!

✨ – Write down spell ideas as they come to you. Save them as notes in your phone and then come back and flesh them out in your BOS later.

✨ – Come up with your own challenges! If you’d like to share, tag me on your post or send them to me, I’d love to hear your ideas!

Time For A Witchy Checkup

Hey you! Stop scrolling for a moment, it’s time for your checkup. Take a moment to check each of these things and fix any problems you might find.

Wards and Shields

  • Are your special spaces still warded properly? Are the barriers still strong? Are there any holes or damages?
  • Are your personal shields still there? Do they need refreshing? Are there any gaps in coverage? Can you still do your work through the barrier?

Altars and Tools

  • Are the altars clean and organized? There’s no dust?
  • Are there any offerings that have been sitting out that need to be refreshed or disposed of?
  • Is there any unusual energy in any of your consecrated items?
  • Does everything feel charged and ready?

Your Body

  • Have you taken all of your meds that you need today?
  • Have you been eating/hydrating properly?
  • Getting enough sleep?
  • Does your body need anything from you right now to feel a bit better?

Entities and Other Things

  • Are there any regular offerings you give that you could/should check off?
  • How are things with your familiar? Your companions? The local land wights? The spirit(s) of your house? Do they need anything from you to keep the relationship strong, if you have one?
  • Are there any unexpected entities hanging around/taking up anchors? (Give your knickknacks a good check for this, as well as any old toys and jewelry.)
  • Do you have any promises, dedications, or oaths you’ve taken up? Have you been maintaining your end of the deal/is there anything you can do to be progressive about it?
