I really don’t get how people say exo’s boring like, we’re only onto Suho’s v app broadcast and he and sehun have given us more than enough entertainment to last 5 years
How can one call EXO, the kings of memes, boring. It makes no sense.
It’s funny to me because everyone likes the over-the-top acting ass idols and talk about they want people that are genuinely funny but EXO is genuinely funny because shit just happens and they just go with it and I can live for that.. It’s so funny to see them try to be funny but they’re personality comes out in their freaking hilarious
Okay but literally, though? I always say this, but EXO are just so natural in everything they do? Like this is no shade to other groups, but all of them, at least from what I’ve seen, have the same sort of over-the-top, boisterous, in-your-face thing going on, and yeah, in it’s own way that is funny. But I don’t know, with EXO something about the way they act is so much more genuine? Not saying that other idol groups are fake, but with EXO they just feel like normal boys and not idols; which might be an odd thing to say since they’re the biggest idols of their generation. But they just feel really raw and human and seeing them joke around like literally any normal group of people do is genuinely fun to see. You can see them as people, and not just a group of idols that are trying to put on a show, and that’s what i love about EXO.
EXO are one of the most awkward idol groups out there when it comes to variety, but I don’t mean that in a bad way at all; in fact, it’s one of the best parts about them. They’re just being them - not every joke or thing they do is going to be perfect and funny or work out the way they want it to but it’s them. They try their best and all they want to do is make people happy in their own special unique way, ways that I don’t usually see as much in other groups? Watching them try to make a joke and it completely failing, only to see them get completely flustered - which happens more times than not - is something that I’ve found to be especially unique to EXO.
Like with Sehun, he tries to do these little things but he’s always so embarrassed and shy and the way he bursts out laughing because he can’t handle it is so precious. Suho is honestly just this huge dork, the most embarrassing dad, but he’s so proud of himself and confident in his jokes and he’s always doing his best, and it’s the cutest thing. Jongin always gets all cute and spacy and awkward, and the way he laughs all big every time he gets embarrassed or thinks he said something funny is hilarious. The way Yixing tends to blank out or how awkwardly yet sweetly he giggles, or the way Kyungsoo looks confused or just plain old done and playing by his own cute little rules is adorable, etc.
Every single one of them has their own unique, and I mean unique, charm that no other member has. With other idol groups you have members that fall into a specific trope - the 4D one, the joker, etc. etc. and yeah EXO in a way technically have that, too, but the difference is that the lines between those tropes are blurred and it doesn’t feel like they’re trying to fit into that specific role.
And it’s fine if you don’t find it amusing, everyone has their own taste, but it gets tiring to hear people say that EXO are “boring” or “have no personality.” They have so so so much personality, and I’m sorry if you don’t want to see that just because it’s not as in-your-face. The EXO members give you this opportunity to genuinely peel back the layers to their personality, to take your time to learn about everything that they are, rather than being shown a specific image that they’re trying to mould themselves into, and I love that the most about them.
Like I could go on and on, as if I already haven’t, but all in all, EXO are legitimately some of the most genuine, human, natural boys that I’ve gotten the pleasure to stan, and I wouldn’t trade their adorable awkwardness that people consider boring, for anything else. They’re like the adorable boys next door - not their image, but them.
