I'm having a lot of fic ideas lately. This time Cad Bane and Tech.
Not me just wanting my favorites to interact (no smut >D).
Concept goes like this:
Bane loses Omega to Fennec and TBB, he winds up tracking them down again, maybe just to Ord Mantell. The Batch are all over the place, doing their thing, some at Cid's, some at the market, Idk, but anyway, Tech is off on his own and this is when Cad sees and recognizes him.
Tech is captured by Cad Bane. He drags him to his ship. He starts questioning him, being rough, throws him in a cell maybe, which Tech could most likely get out of by short-circuiting a few things here or there, but he decides to see where this is going and if he can garner any information.
He refuses to sell out his family. He is extremely loyal. This is very off-putting to Cad Bane for many reasons, especially considering he has no one he can trust and no one who is loyal to him.
Maybe this is the first time he has cornered a clone. He's fascinated by him. He's Jango but he's not. Maybe they start having philosophical discussions about right and wrong. At first Bane is infuriated, but Tech's non-judgmental, matter-of-fact tone has him second-guessing himself on occasion.
In the end, he is moved by his love for his brothers and his sister. His unshakable loyalty. Maybe he mentions Boba and "dat de kid might wanna know he has a sister." Maybe he gives him a compliment, or praises him for his dedication to his siblings, saying it must be nice. Or maybe he throws offhandedly out there that he's never been so lucky.
For whatever reason, he lets him go.
Maybe before Tech exits the ship he places a hand on his shoulder and says, "There is still time."
Maybe Bane feels extra depressed for awhile, maybe he cries about his life, wishing he could have had something like that.
If the rest of the Bad Batch asks about it, he shrugs it off and says, "I do not think he will bother us again." They don't push him for details.

So I saw the Barbie movie tonight and all I have to say is that Rhea Perlman was a terrible casting choice for me because of how TBB S2 ended. Everyone else in the theater was going "aww" and I was seething because all I could think about was what Cid had done to the Batch. That's when you know the writing and voice acting did a good job on a show though. They're so good at what they do that you villianize them 🤣 She did great in the movie, btw, but her voice was so distracting for me 💀

I know everyone loves the headcanon that Crosshair is the smoker, but I offer to you: everyone in the batch apart from Crosshair smoke
Tech is a busy smoker - always puffing away while he's working on gear, he probably makes his own blend to smoke
Hunter and Echo both smoke 🍃, Hunter to counter his overstimulation and Echo for his chronic pain - Hunter introduced Echo to it and now they chill together in their downtime
Wrecker smokes when he gets really pumped up, usually after a good fight or sparring session (his armour always has the lingering smell of smoke because of this)
And Crosshair can't smoke bc it makes him gag (the taste, the smell, the feeling, all awful for him) and he's so mad about it

Hello anonymous friend! I have been sitting on this because I must admit I wasn't sure how to answer XD
I personally have not thought about these two as a ship! It could possibly work, I think, as a long/slow burn enemies to lovers situation, but I think Crosshair would have to apologize profusely and in many ways regarding his comment about Echo. To both Rex *and* Echo, ha. I think Rex is a forgiving person, but Cross, being an excellent marksman as we know, zeroed-in on what would hurt Rex the most in that moment, took his shot, and blasted away any possibility that Rex would respect him or possibly even forgive him. But that is often a key element of Enemies to Lovers, innit? One or both parties have to apologize and/or forgive in order to move on with their lives (and their love).
That being said, though, I think it's wonderful that people can see them as a ship! That's what I love about fandom and what I love about Rare Pairs in general. The fun is figuring out how to mesh two (or multiple) characters with each other even if they've only been awful to each other or have hardly had any "screen time" together at all. Makes you think about who they are and what events go on in their lives that bring them together and that then creates more stories to play around in.

NO BUT I DONT THINK YOU UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS SCENE.
I have 3 nephews, (twins under 1 and a 6 year old) and this is EXACTLY how the oldest interacts with his baby brothers (gently, ofc) he just loves his brothers aggressively in the most adorable ways. Sometimes we have to tell him to cool it a but, so he doesn't get too rough, since he's only 6 and doesn't always know the line. But this whole scene just reminds me of them. And the fact that Crosshair just *deals* with it - this is a regular occurrence! Wrecker is aggressively affectionate and Crosshair is used to it, even if it is a little annoying to him.
