15 things I learned within the 15 years I've lived in California:

1. Money can’t buy happiness, not really. 2. You wouldn’t tell someone who is happy that they shouldn’t be because someone else has it better, so why would you tell someone is sad not to be because someone has it worse. 3. What a woman does with her body should be up to her, no matter what your opinions are. 4. Animals were put on earth with us, not for us. 5. The ocean is mysterious and beautiful but it’s also absolutely terrifying. 6. The size of someone’s house usually doesn’t correlate to the size of their heart. 7. Take that selfie. Don’t let someone else ruin your fun. If you feel confident you shouldn’t have that torn away because that confidence is a power that can be used to navigate this chaotic world. 8. Confidence does not equal vanity. In this society, absolutely hating yourself is more accepted than loving yourself. If you are one of the lucky ones who has the blessing of loving themselves, take it and run. There is so much you can do with it. 9. Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional. 10. Holding on gets hard but having hope makes holding on slightly easier. 11. Smile at kids and babies. No matter how much they are annoying you. They take in so much more than you would think. 12. Change is a good thing. 13. Vegan chicken nuggets are actually amazing. 14. The “friend zone” was created by boys who want to blame the girl for not falling for his tricks. Boys “relationship zoned” them first. 15. I’m really lucky. I have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.
