Look folks. The 80-year-old leather daddies that you see marching in our Pride parade in MPLS with a huge Leather Pride flag watched a ton of their friends die while our government and our society laughed at them. Their Leather families were sometimes their only families. 1/ People who are too young to remember AIDS need to take several steps back and learn some queer history. Those folks deserve our respect, and deserve our collective joy that they can be who they are now, and our collective grief that so many of them are gone.2/ Queers have been indicating to each other through various means since forever that they are queer whether it's where they're wearing their keys, or what color their bandana is, because they were afraid of getting killed by people If they were more overt, and rightfully so. 4/ Pride is the only time where we get to collectively publicly celebrate our queer elders who died so that we could stand here, and take advantage of the full freedom they fought for, such as it is. Erasing kink and especially Leather from Pride erases parts of our history. 5/ If you don't like it, don't go. If you don't want to have conversations with your kids about our dead elders and why those leather daddies are dressed like that, don't go. There are kid-friendly events all over the place. But corporate Pride is not our history. 6/ A lot of people want to enjoy the benefits that our elders fought and died for, without honoring the history, and frankly it's fucking gross. And it's gross that so many people are so loudly proclaiming their ignorance, and their lack of love for our elders. 7/ If you think Leather and kink don't have a place at Pride, you are not my ally. Just say you want to have a big party with all of the free stuff, and a giant parade, without having to learn anything about our history, and leave.

Rice Porridge from Princess Mononoke

About 2 years ago, back when I (K) ran this blog by myself, I decided to make the porridge from Princess Mononoke. I wrote my recipe, made some breakfast, and took my photo. I then promptly lost the recipe, ate the porridge, and let the photo sit in my archive.

How very responsible of me.

Anywhoo, I’m sitting awake last night at 2 in the morning, staring and my ceiling and thinking ‘holy cow I’m hungry’. And since I’m me I start to think about all the things I want to be eating. Images of pancakes, curries, and sushi flash through my mind, but I get stuck on the thought of Miso soup. But I don’t have any tofu so it would be miso broth. And then my brain adds rice, egg, basil, sesame oil and soy sauce to the broth and by then I’ve both planned out my breakfast and made myself hungry for the rest of the night.

So new recipe, new breakfast, new photo. (And for those of you who have stuck around long enough to see how I took pictures two years ago, I think the new photo part is key!) The recipe is under the cut.

One thing I have not seen mentioned in light of this statement, perhaps because it's just well known or perhaps because it's been forgotten, is that Radcliffe has dealt with this before. About 10 years ago his friendship with a trans musician named Our Lady J became known to the tabloids. They immediately published sensational articles calling her a transvestite and a drag queen (she was not), and speculating about the nature of their relationship. He responded to insinuating questions by simply being aggressively positive about what a great musician and good friend she was. They did at least one interview together for a queer magazine. This at a time when trans people were even more marginalized than now, and when he as an actor was finishing Harry Potter and under a lot of pressure to ~manage his image~ as he transitioned to an adult career.

TL;DR - Radcliffe has a record of not just saying nice things, but supporting trans people in his life.

The eviction moratorium have been ended by the Supreme Court, and our landlords are stalking the house where we have been squatting.

We had another donations post going but we're making another because the others died.

My roomate and I are queer, mentally ill and disabled. He is indigenous, and I am visibly trans. We have no money, and we're looking for options desperately. We have a rental assistance program we can apply for when we find a place but until then, we are fucked. We can't go to my family because of abuse, and his family told us they'd rather watch us die than help.

Until we can get something more permanent we're still trying to borrow an RV but we need money to rent a space to put the RV.

We also need food, medications, and water.

Please, if you can donate at all, anything is appreciated. If anyone donates more than $50 my roomate will draw one of your pets within 2 weeks. Obviously we can't promise drawings immediately since we're disabled and grasping at straws to try to survive, but he will do them as he can.

We are still squatting in the house despite legal no protections, and the landlords showed up today. We got them to leave by lying our asses off, but we need help asap.

We really need to get the storage facility bill paid off so that our shit isn't auctioned. Please reblog this. The storage facility has all I have left of my dead dad's stuff.

We were just served a warrant of removal. We have to be out by Monday. We need help urgently. Please share this. We need money for housing and I'll be trying to work something out in the coming days.

Its our last day in the house. I'm a mess right now so thank you all for patience. Things are going quite badly here, we're waiting to find out but we may have to spend some time in a hotel before borrowing the RV. I have applied for an apartment, but I don't have a guarantor so uh, we are fucked on that. There's a guarantor company, like a company that will back you, affiliated with the apartments as is common around here, but from the sound of the call I made yesterday, its gonna take about $400. Everything costs money and being homeless and disabled is the most expensive thing I've ever done in my life.

How its been going with my roomates family

These are people who spend more on a single grocery trip that what 2 months rent will cost us if we get a place. The man texting my roomate is his shitty excuse for an adoptive father. He drives a classic car that could pay off all our debt combined the house they live in and own is worth more then we'd both need for the rest of our lives. They want to move him back in with them to care for their decrepit asses even though its clearly not safe for him to travel. Of course, they deny that he's even disabled, so.
