22, deacon girly, wants to be friends

Summary:

When Deacon finds a woman frozen inside the vault he was strictly prohibited from entering, she becomes something of a pet project of his. As is his job, he gathers intel on this mysterious vault-dweller… and quickly finds that he is completely wrong about her. She is kind, generous, sharp, and haunted by ghosts she prays will never find the surface.
Maybe the two of them aren’t so different.
Their new partnership brings growing pains for both of them, but Charmer soon settles comfortably into her new position in the Railroad. Deacon, on the other hand, can’t seem to shake the feeling that she’s dangerous. To the Commonwealth? To the Railroad? To the comfortable loneliness Deacon has carefully curated for himself by building walls and keeping strict boundaries under the guise of snarky one-liners and constant lies, just so he can ensure the safety of the people he loves?
Who’s to say.

ahh my first ever fic!!! ive been working on this for a couple weeks now and i finally feel confident enough to share it. ive already got about 50k words written for it so...... dw, she’s gonna be a long one. three chapters went up today for the first official drop and then im hoping to upload a chapter per week! any support means the world to me and i hope u enjoy <3

me in planning stages of writing: this fucks. this is gonna be so fun.

me the minute i sit down to write: language is an unwieldy cudgel we use to beat the human experience to death in an attempt at ever communicating fully with another being. i wish intelligent life had never evolved. i want to go back to the cell stage like in spore

Fallout 3: Morse code

Were you previously aware that the Abandoned Apartments in The Pitt in Fallout 3 has a radio that transmits a Morse code message?

When translated, we get the German, “Der Abgrund blickt auch in dich hinein,” which translates to “The abyss also looks inside you.”

The text is a partial quote from German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche in his book, Beyond Good and Evil. You can read about Morse code in the series here:

Summary:

Deacon and Charmer, stuck waiting at the Cambridge Church for Old Man Stockton, have some chats about what finding shelter in a church used to mean.

uh oh.......... religious imagery chapter................. eheheheh. yall remember forever ago (im talkin early may) when i posted that "is Deacon Railroad religious?" poll?? surprise, it was for this. it's a heavier chapter for sure, but i hope u all enjoy it nonetheless. thank u for reading as always <3

there are some content warnings for this chapter that i mentioned in a note on ao3, but i thought i'd put them here too just in case:

extensive talk of religion; drug (chem) discussion; deacon’s thoughts about death (as more of a personification than a scary, abstract concept) + very light discussion of implied suicidal ideation. latter two warnings come into effect soon after deacon stands up to get some water if you’d like to read up to that point, but they do continue until the end of the chapter

He survived because the egg inside him was harder than the eggs around him ✊😔

@vaultgirl2077 is helping me get over the little voice that tells me to post only finished art on the internet. So you can enjoy how dumb my actual sketches are 🤲
