the way some of y'all talk about echo and his disability is, quite frankly, concerning and harmful
*let me start by saying the disabled community, like all marginalized groups, is not a monolith – this is just my personal take as a person with a disability.

first of all, let me clarify that i'm going to be speaking specifically about how the fandom/internet treats and discusses echo and his disability. the unwhitewashtbb carrd has a really great section on how the actual show the bad batch fucks over echo as a character. go read it.
anyway in case y'all missed it echo literally has a disability. he has a prosthetic arm and legs given that he canonically has no lower torso. and y'all wanna be weird about it.
i have seen countless posts since tbb first aired going on about how echo "deserves a real hand!!", how it's so sad that he doesn't have an arm, any legs, a "real dick", that the writers fucked him over by giving him a scomp link as a hand instead of a "proper" hand ala luke or anakin. here's the thing about that line of thinking: you are only adding to the exact narrative that is harmful to disabled people.
You are being ableist.
the babying. the pitying. wanting people to be more ~normal~ in order to make you more comfortable. it's fucking gross and i'm really, truly tired of it.
who are YOU, as an able-bodied person, to determine what a disabled person "needs" or "deserves"? saying shit like "echo deserves a proper hand" is playing into the idea that people with disabilities are less than normal, broken, need to be fixed, and that able-bodied people know how to fix them because they are inherently better. echo doesn't NEED a hand. he doesn't NEED to erase his disability in order to live a fully realized life and be a whole human being. assuming echo is less-than and pitying him for not having a "regular" hand further stigmatizes disabilities and how we are treated in the real world.
here are many disabled folks who don't want prosthetics or aids, who are actually happier without them. and those of us who do use aids often consider them an extension of ourselves and our bodies. and trying to make excuses like "the star wars universe has the technology to give him a hand like luke or anakin!!" doesn't help. yeah, there are in-universe "fixes", but why do you think echo needs to be "fixed" in the first place? examine your own internal biases.
there is absolutely something to be said about how the actual show treats echo, how he is used as an object and pushed aside when he's not "relevant" to the plot e.g. the batch needs a door unlocked or smthn (again, see the carrd). obviously, what echo deserves is agency in his own story and to not be a plot device.
and yet it truly boggles the mind how y'all come on this app every day and say shit that plays into the show's own harmful narrative. the way you write echo in fic, smut or not, is so fucked. WHY do you have him lament how he's "more machine than man", that he's "not man enough for you" ????? WHY do you treat him like an object in your own fucking fic, taking his scomp link – a literal tool – and have him use it like a sex toy or w/e. it's fucking weird and fetishizing and, you guessed it, USING HIM AS AN OBJECT AND NOT SEEING HIM AS A FULLY REALIZED HUMAN BEING. (also ?? he has a whole other hand that is more than capable of doing whatever shit you need.) you can make a fix-it fic or w/e without totally erasing his disability OR making his disability the total focal point and defining echo by his "disadvantages".
and do not get me started on the whole "echo deserves a real dick so he can feel pleasure too!!" shit. boring. tiresome. it's giving gender essentialism. so you think that 1) a man isn't a Man without a penis and 2) that men are only able to feel pleasure if they stick their dick in something. please grow up. if, in your fic, the only reason you're giving echo a "fully functioning dick" is so it's easier to write smut for him, you are once again missing the point and attempting to "fix" him and make him better and more palatable TO YOU. there are so many other ways to write your smut and respect the fact that echo has a disability. don't make it fucking weird.
in the end, ableism looks different to every disabled person, and these are my views. you're allowed to give echo a hand/legs/dick/whatever. all i'm asking is that you respect the fact that he does have a disability, and that you realize the way you discuss echo within the context of the show and within fandom spaces can be super harmful. would you EVER go up to an actual disabled person and say they "deserve a fully-functioning hand" if they have, say, a plastic prosthetic or no prosthetic? maybe some of you would, and in that case please very unkindly get fucked.
and if you get mad because of this post, chances are you are a part of the fucking problem.

I was about to say I feel attacked by this until I read until the end. I don't have the patience for meditation these days, especially with 10 cats in the house that would use me meditating as excuse to come sit on me and demand affection! 😅
I am open to evidence of runic divination amongst the Old Norse though, beyond what Tacitus wrote in "Germania".
I would imagine that modern rune divination would be vastly different to how the Old Norse would have done it though. Not that it makes the practice any less valid - unless someone is one of those ones that screams it must be totally 100% historically accurate and anything less is an affront to the All-Father, blah blah blah.
I am curious though if anyone uses Younger Futhark for divination or magic purposes, since every site I've read so far whilst doing research for my current WIP just seems to focus on Elder - which isn't very helpful for my project 😅 - which to be fair is a question I was planning on asking you Soon™️
I prefer using Younger Futhark because there's so much secondary stuff, like rune kennings, commentaries by early runologists, appearances of the things referred to by the rune names in sagas and folklore, etc. Like the Old English runes, but unlike the Elder Futhark, we also actually know what all of them were called, so I rather like that too. This wouldn't make a difference to someone who doesn't know Old English or Icelandic, but it's also meaningful to me that the Younger Futhark names are in a language that I speak and used to use just going about my day, every day. A couple years ago I invented (aka borrowed from a Gamecube game) a method for casting that used Younger Futhark -- it could be remade for a different set, but I haven't done that and afaik nobody else has either https://thorraborinn.tumblr.com/post/173831166988/lot-casting-rune-sentences

No yeah, but this would work, because I do truly, in the cavern where my heart was supposed to go, believe that you could get him to actually sleep in a reasonable place, simply with the promise that you will be right on him if he does.
As per usual, he'd be working on something, tinkering away with his tools, occasionally adjusting his glasses under the bright beam of his lamp. And you'd tell him that you're tired, that you want him to come with you.
"Just a few more alterations, and I'll be right there," he assures, barely turning back.
But the answer isn't what you're looking for, and with a simple hand on his arm, you say, "I can't sleep without you."
A pause. "...Well, if you insist."
He sets his work aside quite easily, sliding somewhat awkwardly onto your bunk, as his is still covered in unfinished projects, and he lets you follow in, resting your head on his chest and bunching a bit of his shirt into your hand to keep him from going anywhere.
Usually, it takes him a while to fall asleep, his mind seemingly always working away at something, even if he isn't at his workbench. But you're so warm, and the feeling of you practically clinging to him makes his eyes start to grow heavy in mere moments. What's more, being essentially on top of him gives such a good amount of pressure, a weight that he wasn't even aware he needed before now, and it guides him to sleep better than he's ever had.
What an interesting way to discover something you both have in common. He can't seem to rest well without you, either.

Ahhh none of these are dumb, they are just the way to get my brain going when I start to write~
Now, Thrawn isn't exactly the one that everyone thinks of when they hear the word "musician" or "singer," but his voice is definitely one that turns heads. It's low, easy on the ears, his songs softer and mostly tunes that he had heard back home. He's no professional, but he definitely could be if he had any desire to train.
Thrass, is the musician, and singing is a large part of that. His voice, smooth and beautiful when playing to the piano or harp, is made for melodic songs, light and the kind that tells a story in their lyrics. He writes many of these songs, especially many about you, and he manages to make you feel every single thing he does with a simple song that plays when you pass by the room.
Maul does have a good voice, though he rarely uses it. He listens to music more than he creates it, and would prefer to be sung to than anything. But there have been a few instances where he's sung a lullaby to you, and the sound was instantly comforting.
Savage enjoys singing, but... he's not exactly a siren, that much is obvious. Still, the fact that he enjoys it enough to continue doing it as well as sharing it with you is adorable, so not a single person has said a word about it. He will sing anything you request, and will probably spin you around in the process.
Eli can sing better than most people! He doesn't like showing it off and mostly sticks to his humming while he does his ~math~ or whenever he's alone. Sure he grew up with country, so maybe he's a bit biased, but he's also someone who appreciates a good bit of jazz while he's at it, too.
Of course Obi-Wan can sing, how is that even a question? (If you know you know), But only a few are privy to such a thing, namely Anakin and Quinlan, who managed to catch the man singing some showtunes in lieu of meditation in his room. Cody knows as well, but he would rather forget about it.
Tarkin can't really sing, but that doesn't stop him from reciting an entire ABBA album in the shower, nor should it.

A rotting Sweet Tooth
okay I just had to log onto fucking tumblr dot com to scream about the reviews Netflix’s latest original production Sweet Tooth is getting.
I’d say spoiler warning, but tbh it’s in the premise of the very first episode. There are animal/human hybrid babies being born, and they are being hunted.
Sweet tooth is a “a warmer take on a post-apocalyptic future”, titles verge. In the show, the so-called hybrids are heavily coded as neurodivergent, disabled kids. During the show, we are aware eugenics on these kids take place just off screen, at first.
It’s “whimsical and weightless” titles forbes. I think it’s episode 2 or 3, latest, when we learn that these hybrid children are experimented on in order to find a cure for an ongoing pandemic.
In this “gentle take on a dystopian tale”, as the rollingstone calls it, children are kept in cages in order to have their live brains dissected.
In this “pleasant family-friendly” show, as variety titles, children under the age of 10 are persecuted, murdered, and medically tortured.
But the deer boy is so cute, awww!
Okay, so.
We should take this story for what it is. A very dark fantasy world in which children and infants are kept inside of cages and referred to as “it”, have all their humanity stripped away from them and are expermiented on for “the greater good”. It is okay to tell dark stories, but we should be honest about the cruelty we watch as entertainment.
On a side note, what’s with this recent trend to have prebuscent child actors take leading roles in very dark entertainment for adults? It’s like Stranger Things started a whole trend and I am not sure I needed to see real life child actors climb in cages and act like they are scared to have their skulls cut open without anesthesia. Again, I do not condemn the telling of dark tales, but perhaps we should reflect on whether or not we as a society need to put real life child actors through such an acting experience when the same story already exists as a comic and 100% without child labor at that.
Sweet Tooth is a dark, dark universe without heros. Everybody loses, everybody gets pushed to do the most horrible acts imaginable. “family friendly” my ass. This show needs some damn trigger warnings.

The dialogue of "god shits in my dinner once again" was from season 1 actually before Trevor even met Alucard. It was from him fighting the cyclops and finding Sypha. The fact that Alucard picked it up means that between seasons 1 to 4, Trevor said that one liner enough times during their travels that Alucard can repeat up and know it's from Trevor.
And it's fandom destiny to fill in the blanks with:
