“don’t you think our generation’s idea of dating is fucked up. it amazes me how often we claim to be in love yet we kiss other sets of lips than that of our lovers. it amazes me how often my generation cheats on their partners, this is a relationship, not a diet. it just amazes me how we feel manogomity is boring. it amazes me how we prefer to sext than have romantic dinners. it amazes me how dick sizes are more important than his personality. it amazes me how love is so very often confused with lust. it really amazes me that we ourselves are responsible for not having relationships like those in a nicholas sparks book.”

Please, keep looking. Not for a person, but for your passion, your love, your courage, your goals, your dreams, your happiness, yourself. Keep looking. Explore yourself before you explore another. Know your worth, know yourself. Only then will you know what you need over what you want. You need yourself to become your own.

“Can you love me with at least some level of consistency? I’m tired of guessing and waiting and restarting my heart.”

“Why does it take a life ending to learn how to cherish each day? Why must we wait until we run out of time to start to accomplish all that we dreamed, when once we had all the time in the world? Why don’t we look at the person we love the most like it’s the last time we will ever see them? Because if we did, life would be so vibrant. Life would be so truly and completely lived.”

“I crave love but when it tries to greet me at the front door, I say I didn’t hear it knocking, pretend I’m not home. I guess I’m trying to say I obsess over the idea of love so bad until I’m finally faced with it. Until love wants me back. I like the feeling of flying but landing scares me. Maybe I’m not good at being vulnerable. Maybe I’m scared of being hurt. Maybe I was never taught how to land properly.”

“For once I just want someone to be straightforward. To just say what they what they mean and stop hiding behind excuses. For once in my life could someone just look me in the eyes tell me the truth?”

There’s always going to be someone else. Someone that’s better for you. I told that to my ex when he was crying for me to take him back, I tell that to my friends when they’re going through breakups, and I tell that to myself whenever I need to hear it-which is often and always the hardest. But we always, always move on and love again and those low points we thought we’d never get past, well they always become distant memories. Because the amazing thing about us as humans is we’re capable of loving more than one person in our lifetime and our feelings are capable of change. So even if you really did love someone with all your heart, it doesn’t mean you can’t use all your heart again to love someone else.

“There’s so much more to life than finding someone who will want you, or being sad over someone who doesn’t. There’s a lot of wonderful time to be spent discovering yourself without hoping someone will fall in love with you along the way, and it doesn’t need to be painful or empty. You need to fill yourself up with love. Not anyone else. Become a whole being on your own. Go on adventures, fall asleep in the woods with friends, wander around the city at night, sit in a coffee shop on your own, write on bathroom stalls, leave notes in library books, dress up for yourself, give to others, smile a lot. Do all things with love, but don’t romanticize life like you can’t survive without it. Live for yourself and be happy on your own. It isn’t any less beautiful, I promise.”
