Paloma. Engineer on paper. Mother of giants.

language is literally so beautiful like in english "i miss you" comes from being unable to locate someone in the field after battle, it's "i look for you but i can't find you" but the french "tu me manques" is also about absence but it's not something i do, it's something that happens to me, as in "you are something essential lacking inside me", in portuguese it's either "sinto a tua falta" as in "i feel your absence" or, from solitude you get "saudade de você" as in "i am lonely [of] you", and in spanish the word comes from stranger and it's something one does, "te extraño" as in "i am making a stranger out of you", and, and, and

we all must get weirder and more queer. i am completely serious and genuine and this is urgent. please get weirder and gayer now. if you see me acting weird and gay mind your business a little bit.

i need all gentiles to watch this video immediately.

I’ve seen yet another video of a queer Southerner, who is white, and who is fleeing the South, and justifying this saying that, ‘you know it's just this is just like before the Holocaust and anyone who doesn't leave, it's like the people who stay behind during the Holocaust’.

And look, I'm a queer Southern Jew, and I think that it's appropriate that we use the term genocidal to describe these laws. I think there are comparisons to be made between fascism here in the US and the rise of the fascism in the Weimar Republic before Hitler came to power and I've made those comparisons on videos on my channel. But we are not- We are not as a country anywhere near the level of violence that was going on in the Weimar Republic against Jews before the Nazis came to power.

And anytime I get this kind of despair and hysteria, I call my dad who's a Jewish European historian and he reminds me about what that situation in the Weimar Republic was really like and just how much more rule of law we have here in the US still.

So, in the year that Hitler came to power, 1933, Germany, there were 2 million brown shirts roaming the streets of Germany, beating up any Jews or Communists that they found. Okay, this was a organized uniformed paramilitary thugs, they, you know, outnumbered the police and the Army 10 times over. 2 million out of a population of 65 million people total in Germany. That's 3% of the population today.

To put that in perspective, if 3% of the US population today were uniformed paramilitary thugs, that would be 10 million people, okay. 10 million people dressed in Klan uniforms or Proud Boy uniforms roaming the streets beating people up with absolute impunity, and, you know, no consequences from the government. There's only 800,000 cops in the US total, okay. This would be 10 million people.

That's the proportion, that's how many organized hate groups were operating in Germany before Hitler ever came to power. We just do not have that in the US here we are not anywhere near that level of violence, okay. And I worry so much what that’s doing to people who cannot, cannot, cannot leave the South, when you tell them that this is just like the Weimar Republic, this is just like before the Holocaust broke out, and any minute we’re gonna have concentration camps spring up. I just don’t think that that’s the case. Disabled people, minors, anyone on like, parole, probation, awaiting trial, anyone on a custody order. There’s so many people who really cannot leave and there’s many more who like, okay, theoretically they could leave everything behind, but they’d be going to a place where they have no community and no resources and no guarantee that that state is necessarily gonna be safer for them, especially if we end up with a Republican president. And I do not think it’s helpful to tell those people that they’re ignorant for not getting out or that they’re about to be genocided just like in the Holocaust. I don’t think that’s true and I’m staying in a red state, cause I have to.]

Not to mention that this kind of attitude, saying, "oh this is just like the Holocaust and if you don't leave you're like the stupid people in Germany who didn't leave", just reeks of victim blaming and Holocaust misinformation. The Jews weren't stupid. Many did leave and tried to leave. Many were first or second generation refugees from Eastern Europe. And many Jews didn't leave because we've endured thousands of years of antisemitism and been pushed around the globe, and everyone was tired. But we did not go like lambs to the slaughter. We were not stupid.

also and I fucking mean this most of the country is against these laws. that was not the case in Germany (which is alluded to in the video). Georgia passed an anti-trans law that 66% OF GEORGIANS WERE AGAINST. 66%. do you know how hard it is to get us to agree about anything????

Fucking Disney is picking a fight with Ron DeSantos. Fucking Disney. That’s how many people are not amused with this nonsense that capitalism is against it.

What happened in Germany was fascism but it was supported by a large number of Germans. What is happening in the US is not supported by the people here.

That fundamentally changes things. I think that eventually these laws could lead to people changing their views but we’re a generation away from that at least and I find it very unlikely. Granted, that’s a different reason to be scared when the government is no longer held accountable to its people.

^^^ all of that. the holocaust was the culmination of centuries of antisemitism and antizyganism in europe. there were pogroms committed against our communities again and again. thousands of us were slaughtered at the hands of our neighbors. that’s not what’s happening here in the us. what’s happening here is that the gop needs a boogeyman and trans people are the new target. our existence thwarts the patriarchy and white supremacy, so obviously people who benefit from those systems don’t want us visible. but it’s simply not comparable to what was happening to jews and roma in europe before and during the holocaust.

Did I just employ the "Treat Them Like You are A Kindergarten Teacher Again" method with my insurance company today? I surely did. Did it work? Probably better than intended because I made an actual doctor feel contrite.

So, my insurance has been trying to not cover my SNRI because it is new on the market and no generic available yet, so pricey.

I apply for a refill and the request gets locked for review. Again. For the 3rd time.

This time I call and immediately ask to speak to the actual doctor making these clinical decisions. Very politely. Must be a slow day because they allow it.

ME: [Teacher voice] I'm calling in regards to the SNRI you have placed a lock on. Why was this decision made?

DOC: Well, there are dozens of other medications on the market in that tier, and far cheaper for you and [insurer]. We have sent a request to your doctor to consider alternatives.

ME: I am aware of that. So, can you do me a HUGE favor and look up my prescription history really quickly and tell me how many SSRIs and SNRIs were only filled once in 2022 for me, showing they were poorly tolerated?

DOC: It looks like eight.

ME: Great job! Now, can you please look at my genetic test for psychiatric drug tolerance and tell me how many medications are listed in the safe category?

DOC: Two.

ME: Awesome! Now, can you tell me what type that other drug is that I'm not taking?

DOC: Yeah, totally, it's an MAOI.

ME: That's correct, you're really knowledgeable! Should I be taking something as dangerous as an MAOI with my other medications, or even just in general?

DOC: It's contraindicated for sure.

ME: It is! So true! So, last question since you've been incredibly smart and helpful. Is it less expensive for [insurer] to pay out for the medication knowing they already get a huge manufacturer discount anyway, or is it more expensive for them to pay for me to need potentially long-term inpatient psychiatric care?

DOC: I'll clear the code, ma'am and flag it as medically necessary. I'm sorry about this.

ME: I appreciate you SO MUCH. You have a great day now.

this is what corporation do to feed the police state machine which ultimately work for them and in their favor. they lie and lie BIG.

Walgreens makes us do an hour long training every so often as part of the Corporate Integrity Agreement they’re in with the US Government. At no point in the training do they mention it’s because they paid $269,000,000 in fines and penalties for falsely billing insurance companies and screwing people with diabetes out of insulin.

Nevermind the $4,500,000 they paid out as a result of losing a case in which they stole wages from employees.

Shoplifting. What fuck faces.
