Oh, Kels, Eh?

Hey if people can afford to buy Cyberpunk 2077 besides all the harm the devs/game have caused people, then y’all can afford to donate to my sister-in-law’s gofundme.

She needs brain surgery because her epilepsy is medication-resistant and she literally cannot drive or cook safely or live alone until her seizures get under control.

So, if you can drop $60 on a shit game that’s knowingly hurting people with epilepsy, y’all can surely afford giving a real human $5 so she can gain the freedom she wants.

My 5 month old kitty needs help

Our cat, Crocomire, has been hacking up bile for the last few days. We took him to the vet when he started and they gave him some anti nausea medication which helped for a day but he's started again and his temperature has gone up. They're going to take him in to exploratory surgery but that will cost 760$-1080$, depending on recovery speed and time for surgery.

I don't have the exact amount until tomorrow (12/12/20), but will update with bill and exact cost. I'm a trans lesbian and my wife is a nonbinary lesbian, and while I'm still working we're in a lot of trouble meeting this bill. I've been able to put it on credit but we'll need to start paying it and we need some help desperately.

Anything you send helps, no matter how little, and if you can't donate a reblog is always, always helpful.

Paypal: paypal(.)me/dandyquinn

Cashapp: $florlyn

I'll include an estimate and proof tomorrow when we get the bill. Thank you everyone.

Good morning to everyone who is going to troll an oil company today 😇

The goal of bullying Big Oil companies over their climate tweets isn’t just to educate people about corporate hypocrisy. It’s to unite activists around the goal of taking away their social license to operate.
Oil majors have admitted to investors that their business would be in deep trouble without broad public support. They’ve also admitted the biggest threat to maintaining social license is public anger over climate change.
Oil companies could remedy this threat by winding down their fossil fuel operations, and investing heavily in renewable energy. But for the most part, they’ve chosen to combat public anger over climate change by investing in strategic communication. This consistent choice of empty climate words over meaningful climate action is why several Shell executives quit the company this week—and it’s why Heglar says social media call-outs are increasingly powerful.

There was an arrest across the street from my place in Oakland one day – three cop cars with a bullhorn and guns out – and before I could even get out the gate there were a couple people posted up and one of them was filming and another one was narrating in a calm but very loud voice, just

“HE IS COOPERATING! HIS HANDS ARE EMPTY! HE IS DOING WHAT HE IS TOLD TO DO! HE IS HOLDING STILL! HIS HANDS ARE EMPTY! HE IS NOT BEING THREATENING! HE HAS PUT HIS HANDS BEHIND HIS HEAD AS ASKED! HE IS NOT RESISTING!”

and that was something I hadn’t thought to do before. It certainly let the cops know what the narrative of eye witnesses was going to be.

I especially liked “his hands are empty” because this statement would still be true and a witnessed reason the police should not become violent even if it turned out he had a weapon on his person somewhere.

I see people in NYC stop and record a lot. Even if they are just being nosey, that’s still witnesses if shit goes down.

We must be vigilant.  The New Solidarity.  You might just save a fellow human being.

If you don’t feel comfortable with doing the narrating thing (which really is quite clever), even just standing around and blatantly staring actually legit helps immensely.

There are studies that show that even an image of someone looking can be effective to change people’s behaviours.

Sidenote: If you see a cop stopping an Indigenous person, the same protocol applies.

Stop and watch

Okay so I just got off the phone with them. I talked to a trans girl named Aurora & she was super helpful! She gave me a few doctors to talk to & encouraged me to seek therapy instead of just rushing to get my pills. She literally found a trans friendly therapist in my town & I would definitely recommend giving them a call!

GUYS COME SEE THIS!!!!!! I didn’t know about this, come look!!!!!!

there’s such an unhealthy stigma, especially in academic communities, surrounding taking time off or dropping out. putting education above your health and well-being isn’t okay and should not be the standard. obviously there are positives to school/college/uni, but the environment created by the education system can be so horrifically damaging in so many ways, and demonising stepping away from or leaving it only makes it worse. as much as education is important, your health and well-being are infinitely more so.

it is okay to take breaks. it’s okay to take a year off. it’s okay to leave if that’s what you need to do. dropping out does not make you stupid, nor does it make you a failure. take care of yourself first and foremost. traditional education is not the only way to learn.
