Headcanon: Jim has a very particular “blank” look that Bones knows means shit is going to go down. It’s hardly ever directed at Bones and yet somehow he always gets dragged along to fix whatever injustice Jim feels is going on. So Bones just heaves a sigh and gets ready to fight he good fight.

Jim and Bones have often scared some of the crew because of how aware they are of one another; they seem to always know where the other is, when jim is about to do something stupid when bones is about to do something stupid and if the one wants something. Scotty and Nyota have stared, open mouthed at them, Spock staring at them with an eyebrow raised, because they will move so easily, so aware of one another and their bodily placement.
