I think we’re really not appreciating limpets enough. They’re just a snail with extra shell and they’re equally adorable

well folks, it happened. my dick fell clean off of my mons pubis and into da donation plate. when i tried to discreetly slip it back into my pocket, a small bird swooped by and swiftly collected it in its beak. while the camera was following close behind him, the seasons change but he remains in the center of the shot.

ok so tumblr also really needs this reminder based on some posts ive seen around lately, the "babygirlification" of JSTOR is bad. like Bad Bad. did you all just collectively forget history? did you alll just forget they have blood on their hands? just because they publish science stuff in an ever so slightly more ethical way than springer and are a little silly on social media sometimes? JSTOR killed aaron swartz (wikipedia). in his fight for freedom of information he downloaded papers off of jstor (with acedemic access from MIT) to share and make freely accessible (as all information should be), for this he was charged with wire fraud, computer fraud, unlawfully obtaining information from a protected computer, and recklessly damaging a protected computer. he was facing up to 50 years in prison and a 1 million USD fee for a simple act of downloading files he lawfully had access to. with this court case the US government drove one of the most important online activists and programmers (he is behind so much stuff you all take for granted) into suicide in the name of JSTOR.

JSTOR isn't the cool girl on the block. this isnt a call to boycott them (though please learn how to use things such as sci-hub and fight for open science and freedom of information in general please <3), but please dont glorify them as some sort of cutesy platform.

watching white people prostrate themselves like "oh my God how are we meant to continue on knowing there's a literal genocide?!?" is so frustrating. I know they mean well and it's honestly so heart-warming that people are waking up to the anti-colonial fight. but I need white people and non-Indigenous people to understand that your friends of colour, and especially your friends who are Indigenous, have carried the grief and anguish you're feeling for their whole lives. "intergenerational trauma" aren't buzzwords. It's this. It's that rage, hurt, and anguish that we carry from our parents, grandparents, great grandparents because they went through some kind of genocide just like these. so it's only by sheer luck we exist at all and we're born furious from it. because we live in the world so many white people are only just now seeing. we've lived in it our whole lives. "how are we meant to continue on as if everything's normal?" sorry but this is normal. This has been normal for a very long time. but I'll let you in on a secret, if you figure out how to harness that anger sustainably into action, this doesn't have to be normal.
