I think sometimes we forget that Hannibal is a man. He is flesh and blood and feelings and fears and dreams and aspirations and love and hate and sweat and breath and a heartbeat.

Hannibal was ill-prepared to meet someone like Will. He never dreamed he would meet someone who understood him. And so his plans for Will were honesty fairly erratic, he bounced from wanting to kill Will to protect himself, to trying to convince himself that Will was just a pawn, to experiencing genuine fear over his love for the other man, to desperately throwing him into jail so he could avoid killing him while also protecting his identity. Hannibals' actions reflect that of a scared and desperate man because that's exactly what he was. Will did not fit into any of the neat little boxes Hannibal had for humanity, Will was unpredictable and dangerous and beautiful and intelligent, and most of all, Will was an equal. And Hannibal had no fucking clue how to react. He genuinely did what he thought was best when faced with an impossible situation. He felt like he had no control over anything, and he hadn't felt like that since he was a child, so he reacted badly and lashed out repeatedly in an effort to gain back that control and to feel in charge of the situation. He had an end goal of helping Will embrace his darkness, but he had no idea how to execute that goal properly. Hannibal was taught that love hurts you. Hannibal had almost loved his aunt, but when she saw his darkness, she tried to cage him and change him. She broke his heart. Hannibal had loved Mischa, and she had been stolen from him. Her flesh poured down his throat to warm his stomach and her body torn apart. Every single time Hannibal experienced love, he was left traumatized and heartbroken. So to meet this man and fall in love with him, only for that man to be the one seeking to steal Hannibals freedom and lock him in a cage, threw him into fight or flight mode. Hannibal expected to get his heart broken from the start, and so he tried everything he could to prevent that from happening, while also trying to coax Will out of his chrysalis, and in the end he made some horrible and counterproductive decisions. Hannibal was a scared, desperate man who loved and wanted to be loved in return.

I love how the whole first half of season 2 was like "I didn't commit those crimes, do y'all think i would do something so horrible like that??" And then the rest of the series is literally Will doing something horrible like that

The funniest part of NBC Hannibal will always be Hannibal getting Will incarcerated and then loudly complaining about it to literally everyone.

“I miss him” YOU WERE THE ONE WHO FRAMED HIM FOR MURDER

listen i know each actor brings their own spice to a role, but i just can’t take timothee chalamet’s wonka seriously

where is the madness behind his eyes??? the malice??? the complete disregard for the laws of mankind and decency???

this man makes me fear that i’ll be shoved into a taffy machine at the slightest provocation

as! he! should!

I’m not gonna let this gem of a tag on this post go unnoticed.

Will Graham had so much rizz that two serial killers killed for him during his trial just to set him free. One of them put him in there but missed him so much that he decided to kill the judge, and the other who barely knew him killed the bailiff to exonerate him. Even after finding out Will isn't the ripper he was still willing to kill for him.

AND this is how they both looked at him:
