Is nobody realizing The Society is just a fucked up version of The Pied Piper of Hamelin?

It’s just me? Ok. Maybe I had weird bedtime stories.

In case y'all are unfamiliar, The Pied Piper of Hamelin is an old german story from the middle ages about a small town with a terrible rat problem. A mysterious stranger arrives in the town and offers to solve their rat problem for 1,000 gold coins. The Mayor agrees and the Piper uses his magical flute to entrance all the mice into following him down to a local river where they all willfully jump in and down. With the problem solved he goes back to collect but the Mayor and his council refuse to pay. In some versions it even goes as far as to say they blamed him for bringing the rats to try to weasel out of it.

So the Piper leaves, swearing revenge. A few days later a different tune could be heard, and all the children in the town were seen running and laughing, chasing this beautiful music out of town, away from their parents, like they were entranced.

In darker versions the Piper led them to the river and well, let’s just say the rats weren’t lonely…

But in my book…

He lead them to a stone door in a moutain to never be seen again.

Sounds familiar…

Like the rats could be a bad smell almost…

i don’t want this to turn into a discussion on how we should treat dan and phil as a couple now. this shouldn’t be one. yes, things have been said and we know more than a week ago but now i feel like the people who are yelling to stop fetishizing dan and phil are more than people who are actually doing that. i‘m not saying that dan and phil should be fetishized, but shipping them has been a thing for years and they said years ago that they don’t mind. they made it part of their fucking world tour. but what dan meant that there’s a line. dan and phil are not gonna let us know more and probably never will. because they cherish the fact that they’re private in what they have and THATS what should be respected. them possibly never adressing their relationship again should be respected. them asking for no more questions they’re not ready or willing to answer should be respected.

i feel like locals or ex phannies that left in 2013 like to drag the phandom as a whole through the dirt now but i won’t stand for that. we do have sane people in here who see dan and phil as what they are: human beings.
