One of the ship used by the wellermen, the supply ships originally owned by the Weller Brothers was later crewed by one Herman Melville the writer of Moby-Dick.
You might remember Canadian actress and fitness model Vicki Pratt from her guest appearances on nearly every single syndicated show of the 1990s.
The reason for this was simple: in the 1990s, US productions did a lot of television production in Canada (specifically, British Columbia) because of tax incentives and loopholes, and as a local tanned, fit Canadian with ultra-ripped abs (the mid to late 90s was the first era women having visible abs was “the look”), she was the right person in the right place at the right time.
In fact, part of the reason there were so many smaller companies filming in Canada in the mid to late 90s was because tax loopholes allowed Producers-esque “creative accounting” that was borderline illegal, and certainly unethical. So yes, shady accounting practices were to blame for the existence of your favorite Canada-filmed 90s syndicated shows that in most markets were dumped on Saturdays or Sundays (Stargate SG-1 being the standout of this era everyone remembers). That’s also the reason a lot of them were just plain lousy: they didn’t exist to entertain you, but were mainly a financial scam.
Some people, rather chauvinistically, I might add, attribute Vicki Pratt’s career to her husband, big shot Canadian director T.J. Scott (yes, as in Star Trek Discovery) but actually, as near as I can determine, initially, it was in fact the other way around: as in Vicki Pratt’s connections got her husband directing jobs on series she worked on, which he used to create a resume early on.
The second picture from Xena and third picture from Cleopatra 2525 are not from Canadian filmed shows however. They are from shows filmed in New Zealand. Xena, Hercules, Cleopatra 2525, and Jack of All Trades are among the 90s and early 2000s shows filmed in New Zealand. A lot of the Power Rangers series also got filmed in new Zealand. That is whey a lot of Australian and New Zealand actors are seen in those shows
Love the crazy artworks of 1992 Dune video game
The artwork is based heavily off of the 1984 Dune movie. You might notice the top middle and bottom right charter is based on actor Kyle MacLachlan better known for his role as Dale Cooper in Twin Peaks. The movie also featured Patrick Stewart and Sting from the band The Police. Unfortunately they did not use Patrick Stewart’s likeness of his charter in the movie Gurney Halleck for the video game. The bottom middle is Lady Jessica based on actress Francesca Annis from the movie.
I remember playing this Dune game developed by Cryo interactive and published by Virgin Games on a friends computer. But it was eclipsed by the game Dune 2 that was released the very same year that is a lot like the 1995 Command & Conquer and early 1994 Warcraft games that where clearly influenced by it. Dune 2 was developed by Westwood Studios and released also by Virgin Games.
Blake's 7 star Paul Darrow has died aged 78
He was best known for playing Avon in the 70s and 80s BBC sci-fi series Blake's 7, but also appeared in Doctor Who.
Blake's 7 was one of the shows I eagerly awaited to air on TV each week here in New Zealand. His charter was a weird Anti Hero / Hero.
This creature forced me to suck its foul blood. And then it opened it’s wings, like this. And hovered above me, screeching. ‘Now you are vampire.’ And it was Petyr. And we’re still friends today.
What We Do in the Shadows | 2014 | dir. Taika Waititi & Jemaine Clement
Did you know that this movie was a remake of an earlier 27-minute short film “What We Do in the Shadows: Interviews with Some Vampires” they made in 2005. All 5 of the original short film cast came back for the longer version with a much bigger storyline and cast.

I remember when most video remotes even for the VHS recorders had two buttons you needed to hold down together to start recording so you didn't accidentally hit record by mistake like the two record buttons on the remote in the picture.
Although VHS won the war for the home video recorder, the Betamax format did not actually get killed off. It was the basis of the Betacam videotape format used in TV studios and for professional high-quality video cameras.
Sony only stopped production and sale of new Betamax tapes in March 2016

The far side should be four red 5 pointed stars with a white border. She should be repping her mum’s home country and the one she grew up in. ;-p
In the 40s, flying cars were just going to be 40s cars but they would fly.
The figure 8 demolition derby races of the future are so great.
The thing is a real working flying car was built in 1949 that looks similar to those in the picture.
The following pictures are of the still flying 1949 version that was listed for sale at almost $1 million in 2013.
What We Do in the Shadows (2014) Directed by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi
You need to see this movie.
Did you know this is a remake of What We Do in the Shadows: Interviews with Some Vampires (2005)
That was a video short though and all 5 actors Jonny Brugh, Taika Waititi, Jemaine Clement, Cori Gonzalez-Macuer and Stu Rutherford from the original short reprised their roles in this longer movie version with a bigger cast.
Maybe they need to start selling Adults real Butterbeer. So many think it is a fictional drink created by J.K. Rowling but it is a real English drink made with English Ale and a few other ingredients that dates back to at least 1588 when the first known recipe of it was published.

if magic isn’t real then how do you explain

This is still a thing?! Holy cow! I remember when this first came out in the 80s, and I would put it on ice cubes to watch it harden.
Smucker’s Magic Shell is a copy of Cottee’s Ice Magic that is apparently the original. We used to have the Ice Magic when I was a kid. It is still available along with other brands that have copied the idea.
Music Videos featuring Rosanna Pansino
A lot of people know Ro from her Nerdy Numies cooking videos on YouTube, but Ro has also been in a number of Nerdy Music Video on other YouTube channels
