The thing that fucking kills me about “community labels” is how they were pitched as a way to avoid the exact kind of thing that staff are using them for.
Like, the pitch was “you can post your grown up stuff if you tag it properly and we won’t interfere.”
And then they immediately got wishy-washy on what would be allowed, and it turned out that the answer was, “basically nothing.”
And so you got people who came here from twitter or came back here thinking that it’d at least be a little bit more hands off, only to find out that it’s the opposite.
They trained the system so poorly and with so little human oversight that it almost immediately started flagging anything queer as explicit. And rather than say “we fucked up and we’ll fix it” they more or less just doubled down on the damn thing.
Meanwhile, there’s still, somehow, a massive porn bot problem on the site, so now we have the worst of both worlds. There’s a system in place to easily silo off NSFW stuff but it works so poorly that queer people get banned for talking about their day while bot run blogs full of sex gifs follow us in droves.
Cis people who tell me and other trans people not to get gender reaffirming care need to shut the fuck up because they have NO idea what it’s like to stare at my chest and body in the shower and feel nothing but utter disgust at the fact my body feels so wrong
Someone commented on my post about scheduling an appointment for HRT saying that they will “mess me up” and “I will be on them forever” and I checked their account and 50% of their likes were porn of trans women
