Well... It's not a good idea per se. Their venom is potent enough to hurt adults and kill children. But the same goes for horses, and those are common animals to keep around.
Black widows are very docile. People have been known to handle them without any issue (which I have to stress I don't recommend you do, because a bite can send you to the hospital, but it does illustrate how docile they are). They're also very slow, like other orb weavers, so they can't suddenly bolt.
As long as you keep it in an escape-proof enclosure, there isn't really anything wrong with it.
EDIT: Horses are not venomous! They're capable of hurting and killing people, but not because they have venom!!

When I met my friends @colorblindtyedye and @haganeart and their friend in person a billion years ago, their friend asked me, "Oh yeah, what should we call you?" meaning like, my internet name? Or real name?
And I barely knew how to respond. Because no one had ever asked me that in my life. People would asked "is it (shortened version of real name?)" bc my real full name is many letters, but never, ever, "What should I call you?"
And it seems silly, but it was the first time I realized that I have control over what people call me. For all my life I assumed I just had to deal with my Real Name that I do not fucking care for, because well, that's their name. Filled with "respect your parents on the basis of them being your parents" shit, because your name is a "gift" or other such nonsense.
So I realized I was more comfortable being called Nuke. It's a name I picked for myself, kind of, it just sorta developed as my name. But I like it more. I still feel weird asking people to call me that irl, because inconveniencing people gives me critical psychic damage, but. It's what I like and I have every right to ask to be called a name I like. Because I have control over my own identity and who I am.
Just a seemingly insignificant event that I think about all the time and go "oh yeah actually that was a tangible turning point for my life and self-esteem".
The name I like most IS my "real" name.

today for disability pride month, i’d like to discuss something not many able-bodied people know about: ambulatory wheelchair users!
first, “what is an ambulatory wheelchair user?”
it’s a term used to describe people who use wheelchairs that can stand and or walk in some capacity. the amount a person can walk can vary greatly between ambulatory wheelchair users, some may need their wheelchair 60% of the time, some may need theirs 90% of the time.
“why would someone use a wheelchair if they can walk?”
there are tons of reasons someone who can walk might use a wheelchair, such as fatigue, balance, heart problems, pain, fainting, and many, many more. it could be dangerous for them to walk.
“isn’t that being lazy?”
nope! take shoes, for example. you *could* walk without them, but it would be painful, and could give you cuts or blisters. would you consider wearing shoes to be lazy? also, many disabilities and conditions are progressive, using a wheelchair can help slow progression and damage to your body.
so next time you see a wheelchair user move their leg, remember that ambulatory wheelchair users exist!

Casual observation from someone old enough to remember: in the year 2000 financial advice was that rent should be no more than 1/4 of your income.
Until the mid 80s, the advice was that if you must rent instead of owning, then that 20% of your monthly income (oh yes, only 20%) should include all your utilities too.
After all, rent costs more than a mortgage, so it should offer more too.
The housing market is a fucking travesty.

Not sure what’s going on right now over in Conservative World, but it’s a hell of wild U-turn for them to suddenly switch from “Oh no! The left is sexualizing our children!” to “Oh no! The left is asexualizing our children!”
It’s a reminder, I guess, that they’re coming for all of us. The fash and the white supremacists will not make nice distinctions between the queers when they put us up against the wall. There is no gatekeeping, no label-policing, no purity-purging and no assimilation that any of us can do that will save us. They want us dead, and while they’ll start with whoever is most vulnerable at any given time, they’ll get around to all of us eventually.
Queer solidarity means all of us because the fash are coming for all of us.
